    I saw this issue referred to in some different online outlets (may be including here) and was wondering why it didn’t come up during the committee hearings:

    the fact that the nominee for FBI director, Wray, was one of the lawyers of chris christie. in bridgegate;

    during this time, wray was said to have “held onto” (my interpretation is hidden) christie’s cell phone which contained evidence of the text from chritie’s staffers about the orders for bridgegate. the cell phone was never accessed;

    Now Maddow is reporting this and also adds something else:

    wray and his firm were billing New Jersey tax payers, for representing Christie for many months (before this legal retention was publicly disclosed and after the case was concluded);

    so wray is also not as clean as it was presented, was recommended by christie, and is now in line to become FBI director;

    is there anyone associated with the homegrown demagogue who is not compromised;

    my thoughts on senator mccain:

    I am sorry people, but I am just weeping uncontrollably at the thought a senator, ……., who is facing his own mortality (due to brain cancer diagnosis and treatment) is deciding to come back to DC, ….. , with the possibility that his vote would devastate at least 22 million by taking away their healthcare;

    I hope he lives up to the high esteem people hold him in and that he votes against MTP;

    once, again, I am not going to be able to breathe or sleep from now on …..;

    how can so many elected people be so evil?????

    This just posted by my dear friend Alan Oken:

    “July 25: Astrological Commentaries (and more) from Bali. Hello everyone. Some living examples of the effects of the Leo/Aquarius eclipses: The people of Poland rise up in demonstration for democracy (Aquarius) against the movement of President Duda for more “imperial powers” (Leo). The very oppressed people of Turkey rise up (Aquarius) against the urge of President Erdogan for more “imperial powers” (Leo). The rising up (a work in progress!) of the American people (Aquarius) against the urge for “imperial powers” by you know who. (Please see my article about this in my latest newsletter/Celestial Happenings on my site.)

    Interesting astrological fact: D Trump, Jr. Eric T, and imperious son-in-law, J Kushner are all Capricorns! What an ambitious herd of goats is that! All three of these narcissistic mountaineers will fall off the cliff. Summits atop mountains constructed out of the sands of egocentric personalities cannot withstand the process of erosion caused by natural forces. In this respect, (political/social) climate change cannot be denied.

    Love and blessings to one and all (including all Mountain Goats), AO”

    No one knows what the Senate’s going to do. But it will do it today.

    It’s impossible to overstate how incredible this is:

    The Senate is planning to vote today to begin debate on a health care bill.
    No one knows which one โ€” which means no one knows what it would do. Would it fundamentally restructure Medicaid? Would it send individual insurance markets across the country into a tailspin?
    The Senate won’t know until it has already voted, later in the week, on one bill or another. And all of the available options still have major holes.

    Abandoning subtlety, Trump lashes out at AG Jeff Sessions
    07/25/17 08:40 AMโ€”UPDATED 07/25/17 08:45 AM
    By Steve Benen

    Last week, Donald Trump complained bitterly about Attorney General Jeff Sessions, condemning the Alabama Republicanโ€™s decision to recuse himself from overseeing the investigation into the Trump-Russia scandal. The presidentโ€™s argument wasnโ€™t subtle: Trump wanted Sessions to help shield the White House, and heโ€™s outraged that the A.G. isnโ€™t helping cover up the controversy.

    Almost immediately, there was a question about whether Sessions, lacking the confidence of the president who appointed him, would have to resign, but the attorney general vowed to remain at his post.

    That, in turn, has apparently led to a new strategy: Trump will attack Sessions publicly, in the hopes that the attorney general will get the hint and quit.

    Excerpts:
    Itโ€™s grilling timeโ€™: Five women line up to challenge Rep. Brat
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/local/virginia-politics/its-grilling-time-five-women-line-up-to-challenge-rep-brat/2017/07/24/c71071ae-6bfe-11e7-9c15-177740635e83_story.html
    ———————
    When Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.) complained months ago that female constituents pressuring him to hold a town hall were โ€œin my grill no matter where I go,โ€ he didnโ€™t know how prescient those words were.
    Five women โ€” and one man โ€” are running for the Democratic nomination to challenge the two-term congressman from suburban Richmond next year. The group includes a former CIA operative, a civil attorney and a Marine turned commercial airline pilot.
    Women, mostly Democrats, are entering House primary contests in record numbers in Virginia.
    Many say they are running to channel their frustration with President Trump. Democratic organizations โ€” long desperate for female candidates โ€” are recruiting them aggressively.
    For a Democratic Party riding high on activist fervor, even a long shot district like Bratโ€™s, which has been in Republican hands since the early 1970s, seems within reach…
    Abigail Spanberger, 37, has captured early attention with a compelling biography and a profile in Elle Magazine. A former CIA operations officer stationed around the world, she grew up in the district and returned three years ago to work in the private sector.
    She wasnโ€™t sure sheโ€™d run for office until the day of the health-care vote in the House when she heard from a friend whose daughter suffers from a genetic disorder.
    The mother said the repeal of the Affordable Care Act would leave her worried not just about her daughterโ€™s condition but also going bankrupt over medical bills.
    Spanberger texted her husband, โ€œIโ€™m definitely running. This is it for me. This is my turning point,โ€ she said.
    Eileen Bedell, 44, ran against Brat last year and is the only Democrat with experience seeking public office. An attorney specializing in civil litigation, she grew up in Arlington and Fairfax and has lived in the district for about 20 years. Bratโ€™s support for repeal of the Affordable Care Act and his embrace of Trump make him vulnerable, she said.

    โ€œI call him Trump-lite,โ€ she said. โ€œDave is Trump before Trump was Trump in Virginia.โ€

    Kim Gower, 54, left a consulting career to earn her doctorate from Virginia Commonwealth University and teaches at the University of Mary Washington. A Michigan native, she has lived in the district most of the past decade.

    Helen Alli, 52, considers herself a community activist and has served on the Richmond Economic Development Authority. Alli, who has lived in Henrico for 30 years, said she served in the Army for four years and owns a weight-loss and hormone-therapy business.

    Janelle Noble, 35, owns a small IT consulting firm. She has lived in Louisa for 1o years and said she would like to see more subsidies for farms. She favors a basic universal income modeled after an experiment in Finland.
    The only male candidate in the race, Dan Ward, served two stints in the Marines, including three years with the State Department under Hillary Clinton. He retired in 2014, bought a small farm in Orange and returned to an earlier career flying for a commercial airline.

    โ€œDave Brat represents the extreme right,โ€ he said. โ€œHeโ€™s on TV all the time saying some crazy stuff.โ€

    So I just came from my vet’s office (just a kitty checkup) and they had FOX news on… no I didn’t say anything, because it’s literally the first time I’ve seen them have that crap on… anyhoo, Pat Robertson was on lying about healthcare and also, I believe John Cornyn- need I say it- also lying. I barely listened as it was noisy in there, and thankfully I was called on quickly. But another customer did say this: well I DO like that I can keep my son on until he’s 26. I told her she may just lose that lovely benefit if Republican’s and Fox news get their way. By the way she said it, I could tell that she was most likely a Trump / repub voter. The convo ended there as the vet came out to talk to her.. and then it was my turn.
