        Pay Attention People. The first and second Amendments that have not passed are as a result of the many of Americans who are not weeping and feeling despair, but, are mad and making phone calls, tweeting, and emailing to Congress.

    this article is chilling, but informative– the devil you know
    http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/07/26/for-america-it-looks-like-chaos-for-trump-its-just-tuesday-215421

    ‘ “Chaos creates drama, and drama gets ink,” former Trump campaign aide Sam Nunberg told me Tuesday. “This is a new kind of presidency. He’s followed the tabloid model, and it got him to where he is, and it’s the model that will be followed until it doesn’t work. And it has worked. He’s sitting in the Oval Office.” ‘

        That is my fervent hope– can’t come soon enough. Keeping our eyes on the slow turn of Muller’s work, is essential. And yet, Donald Jr. and Manafort’s testimony doesn’t even rank in the top section of news sites. This is the power of DT’s chaos program.

        Today he’s turning our attention from the Russia investigation by trying to destroy healthcare in America. And he’s added the shiny object of transgender soldiers to reduce our intense work on healthcare. Meanwhile, Betsy Vos is running rampant, while we struggle with the issue of Sessions’ denunciations via twitter. And so on.

        I for one have felt that craziness seep into my mind– I cannot focus, cannot figure out where is the path, blinded and disoriented by these smoke bombs. Perhaps that’s just me, but I no longer laugh at DT’s antics. I gasp in horror at how well they are working.

          July 26, 2017 at 5:06 pm

          Susanne, I completely agree with your assessment of the smoke bombs. I, too, am having difficulty focusing at times, and am feeling so much more confused and helpless than I did just a month ago. The crazy tweets and bombast have squeezed the most important issues right off of the front page. Although all of this mess is the “most” important, I suppose.

          Can I add, seeing this menace get 30K boy scouts to actually boo President Obama made me physically ill. It brought tears. It’s so far out of what even I thought was possible. There just aren’t any more words.

      This should sound oddly familiar to every person in a close relationship with an addict or even just a malignant narcissist. Drama and chaos are the daily bread. Many people fight to get off that crazy train to get their lives back. They practice extreme detachment and get away from it. Our country is in a dysfunctional relationship with a loony toon.

    Mr. Apol’s former colleagues praised his intelligence and his experience as a federal government ethics lawyer at a half-dozen different agencies, including the White House, over three decades.

    But the tension has been building for at least a decade, during two stints Mr. Apol served at the Office of Government Ethics, his former colleagues said. Mr. Apol has argued that the agency is often too rigid in interpreting conflict-of-interest laws, they said.

    Walter M. Shaub Jr., the departing director, said Mr. Apol’s general approach to government ethics was “loosey-goosey.”

    One early test for Mr. Apol could be a decision he must make on Anthony Scaramucci, recently named as Mr. Trump’s communications director. Mr. Scaramucci seeks a tax break that will help him save tens of millions of dollars when he sells his stake in the investment firm SkyBridge Capital.

    So-called certificates of divestiture are offered to incoming federal employees as a way to make it easier for the wealthy to take government jobs without major tax consequences. But Mr. Shaub has questioned if Mr. Scaramucci is entitled to such a benefit because he had entered into a deal to sell his stake in SkyBridge before he was hired for the White House communications job.

    Mr. Apol said he had not yet decided if Mr. Scaramucci should get the tax benefit.

    Here is my suspicion: one story that broke a few days ago was that scoundrel#45 & Team Treason were planning to let private mercenaries take over the war in Afghanistan & push out US military. Then I heard the dirtiest American mercenary Erik Prince, brother of imbecile Betty Devos, say on NPR that he wrote the key article which contains that recommendation. Remember that early reports say that Prince was one of the key players in the collusion russian scandal. By all accounts he is a conspirator in pushing false “Sec HRC will be arrested any time”, “Pizzagate” during the campaign, and was repeatedly snuck into trump tower through secret entrances. Prince is also linked to secret meeting that happened in Seychelles island during which Russian collusion was the focus. He is former head of notorious Black Water (now operating under a new name) & is one scumbag US intelligence keeps an eye on. So, when I read that the head of diplomatic security for the US State Department has resigned, my immediate suspicion is that those services will be taken over by scumbags like Erik Prince

      July 27, 2017 at 8:08 am

      Interesting theory. I have to admit that I would be shocked speechless if a mercenary army was allowed to take over the US military’s role in Afghanistan. That really wouldn’t make any sense and I don’t think our Military leaders would support such a move. Trump would be messing with the wrong people.

      My fear is that even if McConnell fails to destroy the ACA now with these votes, Trump and Republicans will simply find other ways to undermine it. As the saying goes, you can kill something with a death by a million cuts. Democrats in Congress need to be shouting from the rooftops that the ACA needs to be fixed not destroyed.

      • July 27, 2017 at 9:11 am

        The thing about it, there are many Republicans that also recognize that the ACA needs to be fixed. Unfortunately, it’s a game to the Republican leadership and they are looking to put a win in their column. Their desperation is making them nastier. There is no logic or common sense in their thinking.

        And this fear about being voted out. I feel that if you are truly working for your constituents, they will recognize it. But I also feel that if that is your primary fear, you are in the office for the wrong reason and deserve to be voted out.

    White House senior advisor and Donald Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner is trouble once again, this time for his use of a cell phone app designed to erase all traces of communication.

    “Splinter has confirmed that Kushner downloaded an encrypted messaging application that permits users to send disappearing messages,” Kashmir Hill reports. “The use of the app by White House officials has the potential to undermine the Presidential Records Act.”

    Kushner’s official role gives him increased scrutiny, but he is not the only member of Trump’s inner circle to have been found, so far, to be using the app. Splinter also revealed Trump confidant and attorney Michael Cohen is using the App.

    TRANSGENDER MEDICAL CARE IS LESS THAN 1% OF MILITARY BUDGET — AND A LOT CHEAPER THAN TRUMP’S TRAVELS.

    …The man who once promised he would station himself in the White House and “work my ass off” has run up a tab of nearly $30 million this year by traveling out of town.

    Trump has made more than 40 trips to one of his properties since taking office, with some costing up to $3 million for commuting and protection, according to an analysis from the Center for American Progress Action Fund.

    In other words, the “tremendous” transgender cost Trump is supposedly worried about might not be enough to fund just three of his weekend getaways. … http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/trump-wrong-tremendous-cost-transgender-care-article-1.3358528?utm_content=buffer839b6&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=NYDailyNewsTw

    typical of republican mode of operation:

    gop comes into a state or federal position promising success of already-proven trickle-down failure and pretending to hate government;

    gop enacts all kinds of crazy and greedy bills and empties the current and future treasury through tax cuts going to their friends and enacts social policies that destroy the fabric of the community and increase discrimination of “the other”;

    gop runs away with a golden parachute;

    democrats come and clean up after the corrupt and bigoted gop;

    Kansas is well past this schedule and is headed down hill;

    but I hope people do not loose sight of the possibility that brownback is being removed in order to give republicans a chance in the next governor’s election;

        THANK YOU, SWBG.

        I heard Andrew Cohen (@justADCohen) say something to this effect yesterday, but unfortunately he doesn’t tweet what he says on the radio — and I only heard him once yesterday — my suspicion is that the higher-ups at @CBSradionews essentially censor reports that they deem to be unfavorable to FUBAR by airing it only once (I try to tune in for the network news at the top of the hour when I can).

        I *thought* Andrew Cohen said that if Sessions resigns FUBAR could appoint someone without needing Senate confirmation, but that didn’t make sense to me. Would really like to get more info on this…

        • July 27, 2017 at 7:44 am

          Good Morning, arapaho415

          As to 45 being able to appoint someone without needing Senate confirmation if Sessions resigns, it’s because if Sessions *resigns* it creates an undue hardship on 45 “not of his making”. However, if he *fires* Sessions, the same does not apply and he would have to get Senate confirmation (or do a recess appointment).

          That’s basically how it was explained to me.

        • July 27, 2017 at 7:52 am

          BTW…the appointment would have to be someone who has been previously been confirmed by the Senate, be it for another cabinet position, an ambassadorship, etc.

            ((( SWBG )))

            Really appreciate your clarifying this mystery for me.

            The only silver lining in this FUBAR mess is that he is succeeding in stoking the fires of GOP civil war — meanwhile, our daily nightmare continues… hoping the nightmare slows down next month, when FUBAR is soaking in the adulation he must have while vacationing at his NJ-branded property.

      • July 27, 2017 at 9:20 am

        I agree. Especially given all the issues that did not get addressed because they were so focused on repealing (not replacing) the ACA. They never expected to have to replace it, and their repeal votes were just symbolic since they never expected it to get past PBO’s desk.

    I talked about this yesterday morning…

    =====

    But the company has faced suspicion for years about its ties to Russia’s Federal Security Service or FSB.

    Concerns about the company have metastasized in the United States in recent years due to the deterioration in U.S.-Russia relations following Russia’s invasion of Crimea in 2014 and later when U.S. intelligence agencies concluded that Russia had hacked the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

    Moscow denies the hacking allegations, and Kaspersky has repeatedly denied it has any untoward relationship with any government, saying the accusations against it lack evidence.

    Is the Trump admin threatening Alaska over health care politics?
    07/27/17 08:00 AM
    By Steve Benen

    Alaska Sen. Dan Sullivan said the call from Zinke heralded a “troubling message.”

    “I’m not going to go into the details, but I fear that the strong economic growth, pro-energy, pro-mining, pro-jobs and personnel from Alaska who are part of those policies are going to stop,” Sullivan said.

    “I tried to push back on behalf of all Alaskans…. We’re facing some difficult times and there’s a lot of enthusiasm for the policies that Secretary Zinke and the president have been talking about with regard to our economy. But the message was pretty clear,” Sullivan said. The Interior secretary also contacted Murkowski, he said.

    Note, we’re not talking about an anonymous source raising serious allegations. This is a sitting Republican senator, describing a conversation he had yesterday with a Republican cabinet secretary in a Republican administration. And according to Dan Sullivan’s account, Trump’s Interior secretary was “pretty clear” that the White House is prepared to play a dangerous game of hardball with Alaska’s future.

    Pentagon Thought Trump Was Announcing a War on Twitter
    by BooMan
    Wed Jul 26th, 2017 at 05:22:21 PM EST

    This is a just a casual observation, but I think we really should solemnly consider the implications of the following:

    At the Pentagon, the first of the three tweets raised fears that the president was getting ready to announce strikes on North Korea or some other military action. Many said they were left in suspense for nine minutes, the time between the first and second tweet. Only after the second tweet did military officials receive the news the president was announcing a personnel change on Twitter.

      Obviously, none of us ever before would be in favor of a military coup in our own country.

      But in this case?

    Kansas’ Brownback abandons his mess, prepares to join Trump admin
    07/27/17 08:40 AM
    By Steve Benen

    Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback (R), having made a dreadful mess of his home state, isn’t sticking around to clean it up. The Kansas City Star reported:

    Gov. Sam Brownback will give up the governor’s mansion in Topeka to take a relatively obscure ambassadorship after seeing his power and popularity severely diminished in the last year.

    The Kansas Legislature overrode Brownback’s veto to repeal his signature tax cuts a little more than a month before President Donald Trump selected him to serve as the next ambassador at-large for international religious freedom, a position based in Washington, D.C., where Brownback spent 16 years as a member of the U.S. House and Senate.

    FACT: KOCH-McConnell have been trying to repeal the ACA since 2010 with over 70 costly attempts by now.
    Which century is the Cut Off – or is it just when they’ve all croaked?
    Will our grandchildren be seeing this performance or maybe GOP will just be a distant memory by then.

    Today is an important day for saving healthcare. We are down to the wire here, so I hope it’s OK if I again share a link from Indivisible for those of us lucky enough to live in blue states. If you’re in a red state, you already know what to do today!

    This simple tool gets you set up to call allies in Red states and encourage/love/support/remind them that they need to keep calling their senators:

    For those of us who have already been calling, I know this has been a long slog. I’m feeling a little crispy around the edges myself, but this isn’t the time to stop. The pressure needs to increase so that McConnell and company aren’t able to pass their invisible zombie bill.
