I’ll never forget that day, I was at work and my boss was listening to CNN. He called me on the radio with glee to tell me that the Supreme Court ruled against Obamacare, he was watching CNN, oh well.

Meta you are so right, really what they meant was that why President Obama didn’t come with his head bent and his hat in his hand begging. The truth is that they tried for eight years to break President Obama, and they couldn’t, he would not give them the satisfaction.

      • July 29, 2017 at 11:27 am

What shocked the GOP is that President Obama knows who he is, trusts his own judgement, is comfortable in his own skin. He didn’t have to play games, didn’t have to change his essential character, didn’t grovel to them. And he certainly didn’t grovel to the press.

      • July 29, 2017 at 11:31 am

PBO so in a different league – these guys are still slithering about in the basement.

    • July 29, 2017 at 2:02 pm

Exactly, Meta. Media wanted PBO in a subservient role. No matter how genuinely he tried to reach out to a GOP that slapped his hand every time. Even so called liberal media routinely moved the goal posts for PBO at every turn. But what they did not count on was a man secured in his own right, confident in who he is. I am constantly amazed, when I look back at how this man weathered all the crap thrown in his way. He is just an extraordinary human being. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I don’t believe we will see another like him in a long, long time.

As if some police officers needed any encouragement at all to brutalize.

    • 28 Don
      July 29, 2017 at 11:31 am

And what was most bothersome was that the majority of police officers standing behind Trump when he made that statement was the cheering coming from those officers. The fact that they cheered in broad daylight was not lost on the citizens of black and brown communities all across America. They might as well should have held up a big sign that read “if you are black or brown we will fuck you up.”

        July 29, 2017 at 11:40 am

I think Trump just set up court cases all across the land by encouraging and getting such clear agreement from the police to use brutality. There is now a pattern for all to see in terms of police culture.

About the Dicktraitor’s call for excessive police force yesterday:
The Police Department that CHEERED him is already under Federal oversight for racial profiling and its former Chief was sentenced to prison for beating a man. “The (SCPD) has been under federal oversight by the US Department of Justice since 2013, following a two-year investigation into allegations of discrimination against Latinos and immigrants. Nearly 20 percent of the county’s 1.5 million residents are Latino.”

Moochi still has his job after saying the unthinkable from the Trump gallery…wow.

    • July 29, 2017 at 11:53 am

You know, I find this interesting:

My local news stations are really squirming with this Mooch thing. I even saw one special commentary on it. And I’m wondering, after all that’s been said and done by Trump – heinous, creepy, unlawful, disgusting stuff every day – this is the thing that really seems to be a tipping point. I’m not sure what’s going on.

      • 38 Don
        July 29, 2017 at 12:31 pm

The Mooch is just the latest offspring of the “Obama Effect,” this entire political environment can be traced back to how Barack Obama was treated in the run-up to becoming President. One can almost draw a straight line from President Obama to mooch. Barack Obama was called “exotic, the other,” you name it and he was called it, but what he was not called was “American.” The Republican Party can’t govern now because they have made the environment so toxic that they can’t even agree on what day of the week it is. And they aren’t wise enough or strong enough to correct their behavior, they can’t even pretend to be accommodating on any level lest they be thought of as weak. They are locked in a vicious cycle of their own making. Their compass is a man that delights in grabbing women’s private parts and who mocks the disabled. There is nothing deep or admirable about “mooch,” until Trump is no longer President there will be more mooches waiting their turn.

        • July 29, 2017 at 12:43 pm

I always love your posts and the way your express your ideas. You’re a deep thinker who can explain himself readily! But I still just don’t get why the Mooch is pushing buttons beyond what we’ve already seen from Trump. Are you saying it’s because people don’t view him as white, as American? Or is it that he’s attacking men, which makes a big difference? I mean, he’s rich, loud, arrogant and NY-style assertive, but so is Trump. And yet I couldn’t believe the faces and discomfort being expressed by my local TV people. All of them were squirming.

It’s the comment about Bannon, these kind of sexual comments leveled against other, supposedly heterosexual men make them uncomfortable. When all is said and done, this whole shit show is, figuratively, all about the dick: who has the biggest and who is wielding it; ie who has the most power. It kills them that a Black man (the physical envy of all other men) accrued power and wielded it successfully for 8 years, defeating them in their quest to take him and everything that he represented down. To add insult to injury in their minds, he did it all without yelling/screaming, whining, sweating, or being bamboozled by them in any way shape or form. By 2011, PBO stopped trying to give them the benefit of a doubt, and went on winning without them.

            • July 29, 2017 at 1:18 pm

I think you nailed it. Every word.

Not to be crude or vile, it is the “Dick” and it will always be about the “Dick.” I can almost assure you that some male members of congress if they were honest thinks that President Obama walked around with nine inches, after all, we are talking about politics and race, there aren’t two more volatile topics to talk about. Now you couple that with President Obama’s verified and certified intelligence i.e. Harvard Law Review, and graduated with honors, and Michelle graduating from both Princeton and Harvard. And you have a recipe for envy and jealousy and every other dysfunction. President Obama’s mere existence laid bare their insecurities, and they thought that Trump was going to somehow assuage their insecurities. And only thing Trump did was magnify President Obama’s accomplishments and strengths.

              • July 29, 2017 at 1:31 pm

                THIS x1000

And PBO openly displayed his sexual attraction to his black wife, and she for him. They are in love and they know how to express it and it just lit them up like a Christmas tree!

“And the only thing Trump did was magnify President Obama’s accomplishments and strengths.” This beautifully summarizes everything and is the base of everything in the cosmic order, and even an explanation for why we are going through all of this mess. We were given what on paper, what most people would want in a leader, and God who I am sure has a sense of humor and irony, clothed him in the guise of that which is most hated on the planet: a Black male. Celebrated by many, but reviled by even more, his positive traits spit on, his work for the benefit of all mocked, his character derided. Now they have what they thought they wanted and he, who has loyalty only to himself, the most ignorant and vile person to ever have the position, is wrecking havoc. Be careful what you wish for.

            July 29, 2017 at 1:07 pm

D.L. Hughley explains it perfectly; Trump gives America back to a certain segment of society that thought that they lost America when Barack Obama became President. They are emotionally invested in Donald Trump; they will eat up everything he says, the more outrageous the statement, the more they are willing to follow him. Mooch is simply a sexier version of Donald Trump, he’s more refined, whereas Trump is vile and detestable, mooch is more palatable. Now you and I can see Trump and mooch for that they are, and that is because we don’t think America owes us anything more than a fair shot. The people that voted for Trump believe wholeheartedly that something was stolen from them on that cold November night in 2008. LBJ said as much when he said and I quote, “The lowest white man thinks that he is better than the highest black man.” Or you can take what Lee Atwater said and I quote, “you can pick a white man’s pockets clean and he won’t notice it while you are pointing at a black man and proclaiming him to be the source of all of your problems.”

YESSSS, it’s almost as if all of their training and honor and leadership and duty gets thrown out the window when Trump calls. Like a “Manchurian Candidate,” if you will. Before Trump calls they are about honor and duty, but as soon as they hear Trump’s voice on the phone it releases something in their subconscious that orders them to follow Trump to the gates of hell if need be.

We need to DEMAND better full proof voting!!

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/hackers-crack-voting-machines-within-minutes-at-def-con-in-vegas_us_597ca139e4b02a4ebb75c134

We already knew U.S. voting systems had security flaws ― the federal government put that nail in the coffin when it repeatedly confirmed that Russian hackers breached systems in at least 21 states during the election last year.

But on Friday, hackers stateside showed us just how easily some of the electronic voting machines can be cracked.

Those who attended DEF CON, a 25-year-old hacking convention held in Las Vegas, were given physical and remote access to voting machines procured from eBay and government auctions.

Within about 90 minutes, they’d exploited weak and outdated security measures to gain full access, The Register first reported. Some physically broke down the machines to reveal their vulnerabilities, while others gained remote access or showed that external ports found on some could be used to upload malicious software.

I wonder if Lisa Murkowski lives in Sitka, which is pretty much of an island in the southeast passage — was there when I took the state transportation system, the Alaska Marine Ferry Service (which is wonderful, staffed with personnel who are conscious that they represent the state of Alaska).

Wikipedia tells me that less than 10,000 people live in Sitka — except for Juneau, all the cities in that area of Alaska are less than 20,000 people, and are quite quaint when the commercial cruise ships depart — these ships are ENORMOUS and dominant the harbors of these small towns that pretty much consist of just a few streets.

When I was growing up in the San Diego area, admission to the San Diego Zoo was free for children under 16 years of age — so my family (and friends) visited on a regular basis — it was a lot different then, less “Jurassic Park” drama, more rural-like — Bantam (small) chickens and peacocks had free roam of the grounds, so it was common to see a showy male or two strut his stuff.

Wow – A full year has passed, since I wrote this – but it seems more like a decade ago!

    ***

[Politics aside, I wrote this to honor an American Muslim hero, a soldier who saved his unit and was lost in combat in Iraq in 2004 under honorable conditions. I wrote it for anyone who has a son or loves a son. I wrote it to honor all men and women who have served and are serving in our nation’s military, not that I could have ever been so brave!]

    Our Muslim Soldier

When he was young in his country of birth
His loving mother would tell her friends
This day my son took his first steps
And the next day he would
Try again and take two more
And within a short amount of time
In a year that seems like forever ago
    He was walking toward me
    One step, five, ten steps.
    Ten steps.

    The father wanted to pursue
    Some of his own dreams
    For higher education and
    To provide a happy life
    For his family
And brought them to our country.

    They learned our culture
They made the most of it
    They pocketed our Constitution
    They became like us
    Our neighbors, co-workers, friends
Exactly as some of our ancestors
    Who were immigrants
To the land of the free
    The home of the brave
    The place most of us
    Take for granted.

In time, this son took more steps
    As an American
    Learned from his parents
How to care for others around him
In high school helped disabled children
    Learn to swim
    Learned from the Army recruiter
How he could further give back
    Could become a soldier, himself
Law school could wait as he would
Offer a few years to the country
Where he had walked and grown.

The young soldier served his tour
And was set to serve another
And traveled to what is referred to as
    “The cradle of civilization”
    To fulfill his wartime duties
    And his parents asked him
To stay home where he had once been
    And always would be
    Cradled in their loving embrace.

He said he had to go.
Our young Muslim soldier had to go.
He had to support his troops
    He had to go.
    One day a challenge occurred
And he looked it in the eye
To save the Muslims on one side of the wall
And to save his troops on the other
He held up his hand and
    Marched into battle alone
    He marched into battle
They say he took ten steps
    Ten steps
    And saved everyone
    Hearing the story we
    Can only ask ourselves
    How many of us
    Would have had
    Such courage.

As we sit and learn of his life
Of his parents’ grief and our country’s loss
One thing we know for sure
He believed in a God who would welcome him
If he lived a good life
    A good and civil life
And if his constitution stayed strong
One thing we can imagine at the end
    As his parents grieved and
    Temporarily gave him up
    Our Muslim Soldier heard the
    Invitation into heaven
And it was a voice calling out to him
Or it was a feeling he got
That it was time to take
    Those last ten steps
    And he would indeed
    Be home again.
    Mission done.
    Boots on.

    U.S. Army Captain Humayun Khan
    1976-2004
    American Hero
    Our Muslim Soldier

      – Kelly is was on the side of the homegrown demagogue about the lies that PBO was spying on the homegrown demagogue;

      – Kelly is an enforcer and probably a full-blow supporter of bigotry, against leakers, and all globe-destroying policies ;

      so the bottom line is that by Kelly being promoted, we are more likely to see a greater push to implement nation-and-world-destroying policies;
