Republicans limiting early voting in Marion County, letting it bloom in suburbs
    Fatima Hussein, fatima.hussein@indystar.com
    Published 6:00 a.m. ET Aug. 10, 2017

State and local Republicans have expanded early voting in GOP-dominated areas and restricted it in Democratic areas, an IndyStar investigation has found, prompting a significant change in Central Indiana voting patterns.

From 2008 to 2016, GOP officials expanded early voting stations in Republican dominated Hamilton County, IndyStar’s analysis found, and decreased them in the state’s biggest Democratic hotbed, Marion County.

That made voting more convenient in GOP areas for people with transportation issues or busy schedules. And the results were immediate.

      GM Sheila.

Good information (I was convinced that DJT had zero chance of winning in November, and basically tuned out most of the stuff I saw about FUBAR before then — too much fawning MSM coverage, hard to focus on what was really important about FUBAR and his mafia cronies).

Dumb & Dumber is One movie that I loathed without seeing it ever.

Dems & those who love them from the left……Need to learn a New craft…..Use Holds on appointments Via Nominees as leverage to get GOP to stop these Undemocratic suppressive tactics on Citizens’ rights to Vote. The same in the State level. They need to be willing & most of All, educate their base in these communities of what is up with Voter suppression. Litigate, Yes. But don’t depend on litigation alone. Organize a systematic assault……politically to make it costly to those who deny others their rights to cast a VOTE.

      • August 11, 2017 at 10:05 am

it is hard to combat non-democratic practices with the same non-democratic obstructionist techniques…because that then makes us like them…but i do agree that we need to use procedural strategies to gum up the works…but as we see…the GOP is willing to TRASH the constitution to maintain power…what i would like to do is to engage our citizenry to fight for those democratic values…principles…norms….procedures…for them to see that unless we are willing to fight for them…they will go by the wayside…

          Playing Nice don’t work.
Dems had overwhelming advantage in Congress on 20Jan09. GOP in Congress led by McConnell & in agreement with John Boehner agreed to Obstruct, using every Rule…..including putting hold on Qualified Nominees by many singular GOP senators to deny confirmation, they sued The Obama WH for appointing Not even a handful Dept Heads during a Recess in Congress…….& low and behold, the Roberts’ Ct ruled affirmatively for GOP in Congress. AG Lynch was held over for days on end., eg. By the time Pres Obama left office, nearly 90 nominees in Fed Court Opening were Never filled. GOP not only stole a SCOTUS seat, they denied 90+ Federal Court Judges to be filled. They systematically deny many their rights to vote. Dems must shift & add New tactics to counter this hindrance & restore Fairness in our Democratic Republic. Playing Nice just won’t do any longer.
USA was never built on a #1PartyRule=GOP Mentality.
It Will need constant Assertiveness, Demanding & troublemaking to reverse the Damage GOP has caused for Decades.

How the FBI raid on Paul Manafort’s home went down
Ret. ATF Special Agent Jim Cavanaugh, who worked with Robert Mueller when he was FBI Director, gives a riveting look at the raid on Paul Manafort’s home and the likely state of the special counsel’s legal case. John Heilemann & Mieke Eoyang join Lawrence O’Donnell.

But it might backfire on them…Trump would probably be more pissed off at the ‘senile’ insult.

If Trumpsters were capable of being shamed, they should be embarrassed at how easy it is to call out Trump’s obvious failings. They have to stay firmly ensconced in their delusion bubble to believe that the U.S.’ standing in the world has improved.

Good evening. This is quite a bit off topic, but my son got good news today. He has been accepted by the VA. He is excited, and so am I. He didn’t think he would be, but some friends told him to apply and he got in. The website said he had to have three years’ service, and have a disability. He had 2 years nine months…..George Senior decided there weren’t going to be any more wars, so gave early outs in August 1990 to those with a certain length of service. Of course, that was a dumb idea. Steve got home, and 30 days later the Gulf War started. He does not have a disability, fortunately. BUT, he got in, and it was only a one or two month process. He said he was worried about the cost of insurance after age 50. He had heard bad things about the cost. So this has relieved his mind a great deal, as he will be 50 in January 2018. (I can’t believe it!) This will make his family’s life easier financially, I know. That 50-65 danger spot was frightening him, and now he feels ease. I’m glad for them. I also know that the process was faster because of the improvements President Obama and admin made. There are two VA hospitals within his region. One in Dallas, which he has heard is very crowded, and one in Bonham which is only about 50 miles, which he has been told is worth the ride. Fifty miles in Texas is next door:-)
