Such a joyous day! I remember that day so clearly in my mind….working like a tired, but exhilarated dog, at BO headquarters all day making calls and whatever else needed to be done….that night, when we knew he had won, we all broke out the champagne and cried and laughed and hugged each other…just could not wipe the happiness off. Will be etched forever in my memory. Life felt hopeful.

It’s a day we will never forget! Thanks for sharing DF. My actions were the opposite of yours, after I finished the last of my voting precinct checks and made sure all the volunteers were taken care of, I snuck out to be home alone. Just did not trust myself to be near anyone else if the worst came to pass. Even refused to go to my sis’ house, much less a party! When the news broke I started sobbing and did not stop crying for three days. For months I had held it together despite out offices being trashed on a weekly basis, signs stolen and the horrible things our volunteers here in TX endured. We saw the ugliest racism in all its despicable forms. But I coordinated the volunteers and had to stay upbeat for them. So it was sheer relief and exhaustion in addition to happiness when the results came in. Although TX did little to actually help the win, we did contribute to the popular vote totals. And it remains one of the proudest periods of my life.

I was thinking this morning if there is any doubt just how much racism defiles this country, simply look at the contrast between that glorious day in 2008 versus what we are enduring now.

{{{FoxfireTX}}} We are still working to perfect that Union….however tumultuous getting there seems to be. Thank you for your service and all you did to make that election happen for all of us. We will never see another quite like that one, sadly. No matter what happens to me now, I can leave this Earth knowing that I helped elect this amazing human being to become the 44th President of the United States. Nothing and no one, can take that away from us.

I have no problem with him but we do need some young fresh blood like what we had in President Obama in 2008. Democrats have a lot of younger folks who would make excellent Presidential candidates in 2020 and I hope we have some fresh faces to consider by then. But I love Biden and would support him if he’s the Democratic Presidential candidate after the primaries are done.

We don’t need another round of ugly primary fights like those we just went through in 2016.

Donna Brazile has completely lost it and is imploding in public. Sure wish someone would sit her down and shut her up. What is WRONG with these Dems?

    • November 4, 2017 at 6:01 pm

Cannot believe she was given a leadership position. She sounds a bit cuckoo.

She’s been a strong Dem voice for decades, meta. I believe she chaired the Gore campaign. I thought it was a good move when she was named temporary chair, she always seemed so sane and business like. Cannot believe it is the same person.

I had no idea that this is who she is. She really doesn’t care that her words could have a negative impact on the governor races in New Jersey and Virginia. As far as I am concerned, she is a Republican/Russian operative now.

And why in the world can’t he hire American workers? Is anyone in the MSM even asking him that? Are Dems asking him that? This makes zero sense for a President to be hiring foreigners for jobs which could be done by Americans.

After the karate competition, since we were up in the North Georgia Mtns some of us broke out on our own and stopped to visit a lovely vineyard outside Ellijay. Itโ€™s owned by this retired Army Colonel and his wife. We had a tasting and he took us along with about 20 people on a walking tour of the grounds and the production facility. What a nice man and a beautiful vineyard. The brisk walk through rollings hills on a fall afternoon was soul-stirring. Then we made the drive back to Atlanta passing some of the most beautiful scenery, youโ€™d ever want to see. Itโ€™s been a perfect day! [sigh!]

well I have to share some personal news: My eldest son just told me that he is going to be “barred” into the Supreme Court. I’ve mentioned before that he’s an attorney, this means that he will then be able to litigate before the Supreme Court. Anyway this is very exciting.& I am obviously so proud.
Also- the day – Dec 5th- that he gets ‘barred in’ is apparently the same day of the “cake” case to be heard in the SC, so he will get to watch. That’s the case out of Colorado about the people who refused to make a cake for the gay couple, as I recall. Thanks for letting me share ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

You know Idon, you and President Obama must be great judges of character. I feel bad because I never paid that much attention to Donna Brazile. I wish I had! She is turning out to be a disaster for the Democratic Party. I hope Democrats in Virginia and New Jersey stay focused on their up-coming elections.
