Congrats to Stacey Abrams WINNER. Of GA Democratic primary – 75% to 25%. Republican primary will most likely go to run-off between SoS Brian Kemp and Lt Gov Casey Cagle – neither who came close to 50% of vote. Stacey Abrams could be America’s FIRST Black female governors!

She believes in getting the base out instead of reaching out to Trump voters. I am so tired of Democrats trying to reach out to people they
      will never get anyway!

    • May 23, 2018 at 8:16 am

I felt as u did. I could feel it. They are up against all the uglinest of trumpism. I like that she says that her campaign will register new voters. This is key to all Dem candidates.register new voters and ground vote.

Yes! And after I heard “Governor” Abrams’ remarks a couple more times, I think her delivery is also reminiscent of many inspirational remarks First Lady Michele Obama has made (although Mrs. Obama’s not technically a politician, and according to her husband, never will be!).

    Good Morning TODVille.

Another one sent back to his mama.————————-

Prominent Southern Baptist leader removed as seminary president following controversial remarks about abused women

In a brief statement, the seminary’s board of trustees made Paige Patterson president emeritus but did not state a reason for his removal.

A legend for guarding biblical orthodoxy as American culture liberalized, Patterson and his views on gender roles looked to a new generation like misogyny. Conservative evangelical women made a rare public push against Patterson, who they said was distorting scripture. In recent weeks, Patterson has come under fire for comments he made between 2000 and 2014 about female bodies, including a teenager’s body. He also said female seminarians need to work harder to look attractive and that women who are abused almost always should stay with their husbands.

Families that have unrestricted access to guns in the home must be held accountable. If you have a gun in your home… LOCK IT UP! If your child goes to a sleepover, parents need to know if there are unrestricted guns in that household, or it could be your child that is dead

Afternoon TOD. The 4 year old will have to live with that in the form of guilt for the rest of his precious life. Shame !

    • 25 Sandy1110

The neighbor is suffering from cognitive dissonance:

“There’s no way they would have a loaded gun out. They’re good people. They’re Christians.”

OK, then explain how the 2-year-old died.

Of course, there will probably be no consequences for these “Christians”, everyone will chalk it up to a tragedy, no charges will be filed, they’ll have to live with this so it’s punishment enough, etc. etc.

Unless they’re black…then maybe someone will be held accountable.

Has anyone heard anything about the father of the Waffle House shooter who gave the weapon back to his son to commit those murders?

At a minimum, Nunes and Gowdy’s Democratic counterparts are entitled to a seat at the table.

Stacey Abrams makes history winning Georgia Democratic primary in bid to become first black female governor
    Nicole Gaudiano, USA TODAY
    Published 8:57 p.m. ET May 22, 201

WASHINGTON — Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams won the Democratic primary Tuesday, bringing her a step closer to becoming the nation’s first African-American woman governor.

In one of the night’s closely watched primaries, the former state House minority leader beat former state Rep. Stacey Evans, the Associated Press announced.

“We are writing the next chapter of Georgia’s future where no one is unseen, no one is unheard and no one is uninspired,” Abrams said during a rousing speech at her post-election party. “We are writing a history of a Georgia where we prosper together.”

This man is grasping at straws. Manafort has a “low level” employee get a storage unit in the employee’s name but instructs the employee he is only to go into the unit to put stuff in (Manafort’s stuff) but not to remove or allow anyone else inside. The FBI gets the employee to open the storage unit, they see stuff relating to Manafort then go get a search warrant, how the hell is this illegal? The judge see right through this con.

I’m thrilled to announce that my new book, “SHADE: A Tale of Two Presidents” will be published in October by Little, Brown. Like many of you, I have been distressed by the barrage of lies and hateful comments emanating from the current administration on a daily basis. We have a president who clearly does not understand democracy and the rule of law. To him, a critical news story is fake news, and our intelligence agencies are all corrupt. His presidency has become a reality game show, with his primal need to achieve ratings and wins–for himself. He does not respect women, minorities and immigrants. I have worked for two presidents in my life–one Republican (Reagan) and one Democrat (Obama). I spent almost every day with President Obama during his two terms, watching how hard he worked on behalf of all Americans. He was–and still is–someone who respected people from all walks of life. He made decisions based on facts. He respected democracy and the rule of law. Unlike his successor, he respected the office of the presidency. Since President Obama left office, I have been posting photographs and captions here that juxtapose his presidency with the current one. I do this not as a partisan hack, but as an American citizen concerned about the future of our democracy because of our current president. My commentary on Instagram has been subtle, sometimes humorous, and certainly more respectful than his commentary on Twitter. Through my photographs and commentary, SHADE will vividly show where we are as a country contrasted with where we were. To read more about the book, click on: bit.ly/souzashade (link also in my profile). We are still working on the cover and I will post that once it is finalized. Stay tuned!

THANKS, Meta; I do so love you senior reporters here in the TODvillage! 😉 I wouldn’t have seen this so opportunely since I rarely go on Instagram. Now I have two major treats [‘Becoming’ AND ‘Shade’] to look forward to in the fall. Yea, baby, my Obama library is a-growing! I’m so happy. 🙂 🙂 🙂

In response to Miss Pat: Like you, I put off opening my Obama library books for months, building anticipation. I’m that way with gifts, always wanting to hang on to the suspense because once the gift is open it’s ‘all over’. However, after my March birthday (and remembering 😉 that I may not be around forever) I discovered a real sweet way to both appreciate my ‘Intimate Portrait’ AND minimize the stress from the WH Idiot’s actions daily. I’ve taken the covering off one of my ‘Intimate Portraits’ and EACH DAY I turn a page for a new image. As you all know, we here cannot see a pic of PBO without being uplifted 🙂 – this has been a beautiful daily aid for me as I try to hang on to my fluctuating hope that the Idiot will be brought low sometime soon. Please, Lord.

Cohen business partner’s plea deal seen as likely falling domino

Rachel Maddow reports on the plea deal by Michael Cohen’s business partner, Evgeny Freidman, in a case involving his taxi business that makes it likely he’ll help prosecutors in Cohen’s case, making him, in turn, more likely to make a deal to aid the investigation of Donald Trump.

Obama center plan approved by Chicago City Council
    POSTED 6:45 AM, MAY 23, 2018,

CHICAGO — The Chicago City Council has approved the Obama Presidential Center in a park on the city’s South Side.

The council voted overwhelmingly to approve the $500 million project.

The project remains under federal review because the site, Jackson Park, is on the National Register of Historic Places. However, City Council is a major step forward.

Last week, the Chicago Plan Commission approved the proposal to build on the site selected by former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama. The council’s zoning committee did the same on Tuesday.

People who WANT to have an open mind would understand what the Bucks are saying here: That while many police perform their jobs to truly serve and protect, those police who abuse their power NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.

“Police Lives Matter” believe that anything bad that happens to people of color at the hands of police is what they deserve – the police are never wrong when it comes to taking action – excessive and/or fatal – against POC.

How many other times have they gotten away with this because the POC they victimized didn’t happen to be high-profile figures with large organizations behind them?
