    I am a Proud Liberal.

    Dear anyone on TOD who has an Instagram Account???

    Could you please get the clip posted by Mr. Michael B Jordan (aka Killmonger – in Black Panther) in which he challenges Mr. Will Smith to a cook off;

    Thank you Nena for posting JFK’s speech. He is so clear! I had forgotten how well he could articulate the strengths of liberalism. He speaks such truth. Conservatism does not move forward, nor light the lamps of democracy and liberty around the world: that is liberalism. So good to hear him again…..

    I have had my saying about Sen. John McCain, but that does not mean that I never respected his service for this country. I did. I respected him a whole lot more then I respect what is in the White House.. My prayers are with the McCain family.

      this was exactly what I thought when I first saw the clip of how he quickly threw “his friend the AG” …. another self-promoter;

      is (wasn’t) he a JAG in the reserves??

        August 24, 2018 at 6:21 pm

        Yes he was a JAG but he is so up iQ45 arse he will do anything for him. Ms. Lindsey used to be a decent guy you could depend on him to do what was right and follow the rule of law. Since this criminal took over the WH he has changed. Now that McCain is dying I guess he has no one to keep him honest.

          Sister Lindsey has been swinging his mouth for so long that his tongue is twisted. Is he worried about reelection & is vying for AG job? Damn these iQ45 people are something else!

    Happy Friday TOD Family!

    Please, please, please listen to Randi Rhodes POD cast today, full Friday shows on YouTube. Especially the last part where she talks about the DEMs have a plan if iQ45 fires Mueller because he is going to try to do it late on either a Friday or weekend when no one is paying attention. There is a plan to get us all in the streets to protest and DEMs have secured the promise of GOP house & senate folks who will retroactively protect Mueller so that all the files are protected and can’t be destroyed. I am hoping Mueller is also saving this information on a cloud or in already filed indictments ready to roll.

      A couple of years ago the Cannes Film Festival managers had a fit because an actress did not wear super high heels under her gown on the red carpet. People frequently have good reasons for wearing the clothes they wear. it’s time that men started to respect women for making sensible choices for themselves.

    I’ll read this tomorrow, but I like the quote from ol’ David.

    • August 25, 2018 at 12:02 am

      David Axelrod: “That said, it is impossible to ignore the stench that is emanating from the White House and from Washington, and this week was a really alarming week. And the President himself has been so revealing, because his reactions to all of these stories, calling Paul Manafort, who was convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion, a brave man, suggesting that everyone does what he does. All the lobbyists from Washington do what he did. Same thing with Michael Cohen and the notion that everybody does what we do. Well, everybody doesn’t pay hush money to women to stay silent before an election because they think it might impair their chances and then hide the source of the money and lie about it. That’s not what people generally do. But it speaks to the president’s philosophy which is, you do whatever you have to, take whatever you can, whenever you can, however you can. Rules, laws and norms don’t matter.”

    after all that has happened in the legal realm this week, this is my dream:

    maybe next week will be one in which Team Mueller says (Oprah style) to the congressional representatives who have been involved in Russian collusion or in the related obstruction of the Mueller investigation that “… You get an indictment/subpoena, You get an indictment/subpoena, ….., you get an indictment/subpoena …. ”

      I get the French tennis tradition thing (it is not racist and France is longtime pro-African American) and not wanting to start international debates on the bleachers at the tennis game. However, I think a special suit to help Serena with her medical problems is fair. And that an exception should be made for their astronomically biggest tennis star. Let’s not open the doors to right wing spinners and nation dividers.

    • August 25, 2018 at 1:13 pm

      “African Americans, who are largely descended from Africans of the American colonial era, have lived and worked in France since the 1800s. Unofficial figures indicate that up to 50,000 free blacks emigrated to Paris from Louisiana in the decades after Napoleon sold the territory to the United States in 1803.[1] Paris saw the beginnings of an African-American community in the aftermath of World War I when about 200,000 were brought over to fight. Ninety per cent of these soldiers were from the American South.[1] Many black GIs decided to stay in France after having been well received by the French, and others followed them. France was viewed by many African Americans as a welcome change from the widespread racism in the United States. It was during this time that jazz was introduced to the French and black culture was born in Paris. African American musicians, artists, and Harlem Renaissance writers found 1920s Paris ready to embrace them with open arms. Montmartre became the center of the small community, with jazz clubs such as Le Grand Duc, Chez Florence and Bricktop’s thriving in Paris.” (wiki)

      That was at Wimbledon, Not US Open.
      Since then, Wimbledon has adopted a stricter Clothing Code.
      US Open used to be in all white outfit. They changed that, perhaps in the late 1990s or early 2000s.
      My Nadal wore cari pants…hanging below his knees for over 5yrs and none objected. So Serena should come in win cari pants with colorful leggings and dare them to speak.
      I don’t like imposing things/dress codes on others.

    • August 25, 2018 at 1:42 pm

      t, The idea is we focus on the game. The dress code has been in play for a very long time. They LOVE Serena but she is a participant. If she thinks about it she’ll understand. I spent years in a school uniform and it is a powerful uniter. We must not let the spinners fabricate
      division via sports.

    “Everything’s fine, guys,” Williams said on Saturday morning at the US Open, explaining that she had already resolved the issue in a conversation with French Tennis Federation president Bernard Giudicelli. “He’s been so easy to talk to. My whole team is basically French, so, yeah, we have a wonderful relationship. I’m sure we would come to an understanding and everything will be okay. Yeah, so it wouldn’t be a big deal.”

    Case Closed as far as Ms Serena Williams id concerned.

    She wants to Play her #USOpen w/o Drama…….my take.
