Same to you VC. My afternoon is spent cleaning house and watching bad thriller movies. It’s hard to keep the spirits up right now. Thank goodness for this place!

Yes, our TODvillage definitely helps the spirit to bounce back when it gets too low. [Thank you for your perseverance, NerdyW.]

What a demoralizing day. Tried to counteract it by attending two fundraisers for Democratic women candidates for Congress endorsed by President Obama. We have to #TakeItBack

She is so in denial. So she finally made a definitive statement which she will regret. Apparently she is not running for office again. She is reciting the republican talking point.

In every political calculation that Joe Manchin has ever made, a variable of him being a Democrat in any shape or form has never been considered.

    • 22 nathkatun7
      October 7, 2018 at 12:57 am

I think the Democratic Party should ignore Manchin and focus all their efforts and funding on supporting Democratic Senate candidates in Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin. If Democrats can win all these Senate races, they can win majority control of the Senate without having to depend on traitor Manchin.

In less than two years, America has lost the executive, legislative, judicial branches to corruption, while other checks – the media, the criminal justice system – remain badly damaged.

That leaves one check: the people. That is why we fight. That is why we protest. That is why we vote. Because we, the people, are all we have left.

It was such a little hiccup that you had to have the President and Republican Senators interfere in what was a sham of an FBI investigation. I hope the people of Nevada shows Heller what they think of what they did.

“Tonight, for the first time I can remember, I feel out of place in the country I was born into and the citizenship I’ve loved my whole life. For weeks I’ve watched with sadness as our civil servants have failed us, turning toward bigotry, mean-spiritedness, and mockery as the now-normal tools of the trade. “How can we expect the next generation to step up and serve, to be interested in public life, and to aspire to get involved when all we show them is how to spar, attack, and destroy each other? “It’s hard to blame young people for calling us out, and pointing to our conflicts between the values we declare, and those we stand behind only when it’s convenient to partisanship. Many people are rightly calling it a damn mess. “But I want to encourage you to dig deep for hope and civility right now—to try to make connections with people you disagree with, to be better than our politicians. “We don’t have to share the same motivations to want the same outcomes. Let’s focus on each other, and strengthening our communities, and reflecting on what’s happening. Let’s live in justice and respect and let others fight it out now to the bitter ends. “This is our country too. Every woman, man, and child in it, our American future. “We’ve got work to do.”–Robert Redford

    https://www.vox.com/2018/7/2/17513520/court-packing-explained-fdr-roosevelt-new-deal-democrats-supreme-court

In the aftermath of Kennedy’s retirement, a number of leftist/liberal writers echoed Faris’s arguments. @kept_simple, a well-respected Twitter dog lawyer, argued in the Outline, “increasing the size of the Court is an entirely proportional response the GOP’s abuse of process. Gorsuch’s appointment alone justifies it. In shifting the Court from a potential 5 to 4 liberal majority to a 5 to 4 conservative majority, the Republicans effectively stole two votes. Increasing the Court’s size to 11 justices would merely rebalance what was taken.”

Thank you all in our TOD village, you’ve helped me thru this time & weekend. I had to switch off everything to regain my moment of sanity. The one thing I know is that GOP has a propensity of overreach & it always backfires. KavNO is in precarious waters. Whether he survives the seat is up to us. He has so much garbage & add his perjury (testimony), he’s going to find out pretty soon that whatever reason they placed him there isn’t going to protect his corrupt arse. And Collins needs to stop talking, as Flake, as Munchkin. Vote. Come out in droves. MSM, is now going to come out w/ full blast articles about voting machine hacking. They can only “fix” a % not all. There’s going to be a concerted effort to stop people from voting. Don’t listen, do early voting, do whatever it takes. ❤

Another that has been puzzling me is this need for FEMA to come out w/ that unnecessary iQ45 alert. Told all to switch off their phones. FEMA touted that alert reached 225M people. Why do they need this extra system. Don’t want to sound paranoid, but coming out now, could it be a way to eff up people’s voting on 6th? I’m learning to not take their nefariousness for granted. There’s always one more sleight of hand. Also, w/ this FEMA dude, what are they doing w/ that database of cell numbers? Uggh, that’s what happens when there’s absolutely no trust. GOP has lost that sacred trust. Period.
