    Great Spread Nerdy….

      Congratulations, Sheila!

thanks Sheila, will listen to this.
Been thinking about the former Soviet press…”there’s no truth in Pravda (правда) and no news in Izvestia”.
Too bad for the Trump administration: Oh yes there is an objective reality and we are looking at him. The truth is they’re busy erasing the terms ‘evidence-based’ and ‘fact-based’. And deleting critical scientific data on the EPA and the Arctic. Hey it wasn’t for no reason that Exxon-Tillerson denied global warming for the last 40 years, still covering up and distracting from the catastrophic present and future fallout on our planet. Fact: There’s a **Thirty Trillion dollar bounty** to be had in minerals and oil in the Arctic that Putin and friends have their beady eyes on. (If only we’d lift sanctions.) KOCH misinforming, preventing and taxing solar and renewables; Big Oil preventing electric cars that could become affordable. The gross pretense about global warming. Trump denying the IC if it doesn’t suit his agenda and his secret deals with Putin. Again, again when it comes to truth or no truth: It’s all about the Oil.

Good morning TOD. This classroom door — a thousand claps! Truly amazing. I saw a link yesterday for 24 Children’s Books to Read to Your Child During Black History Month. My daughter and I have scrolled through it. She is going to see if she can find some of them at her local library. I am going to choose 2 or 3 to purchase. One for sure–Princess Hair. Encouraging little black girls to love their hair in whatever form. Aliya wants straight hair sooooo much. We had it straightened before Christmas. It didn’t even last one full day. She got hot and sweaty running and playing. She did decide after that maybe she’s not ready for that yet though she still wants straight hair “like Mommie’s.” She had a text last Friday about a number of our AA leaders–Rosa Parks, Thurgood Marshall, Jackie Robinson, MLK, etc. Our daughter was able to share a lot of additional info about some of them as they studied. Yesterday when CBS did a spot on Atlanta being a civil rights city, she was in another room, but picked up on something that was said and immediately came in and watched the rest of that segment. She commented that MLK’s daughter “is beautiful.” She is obviously ready for us to begin fostering her awareness and realization of her AA heritage.

NW, thank you for keeping our door open. Chips, if you are ever around, we miss you something awful! Hope things are good with you and Danny.

In first heard of this through a thread by PropaneJane on Twitter. This deeply sourced article should also clear up the questions about why is it that so many white women vote republican and support #45. Look at the video that recently surfaced of women gathering for a Virginia women for Trumo 2020 that further illustrates some of the points in the article. It will make your stomach turn.

As part of Black History Month, because the answer truly is, it would be wise (and I plan to remind them) for cable news heads to stop asking when President Obama will “weigh in” on the Northam brouhaha. For more than eight years, President Obama has shown what seeing life with the help of a moral compass looks like. It’s not up to HIM to weigh in. It’s up to US. Every time he lets “the kids” in our national spotlight work through the battles of today’s playground, he reminds us what he presented to us while he was visible every day on the national stage. And it was a totally simple lesson, if we lesser beings didn’t make it seem so damn hard:

“We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” — from the Hopi

Have a fine Obama day, TODville! Beautiful post, Nerdy!

Every damn week, if not day. Cannot wait until this is a part of our history – after trump goes down – and not a part of our daily lives, because trump and his gang are still free to act against our country as I write this. None of this has ended just because some of it has been “found out.”

    Good Read

I am not arguing that the Democratic Party or its members are particularly virtuous. A little more than a century ago, it was the Republican Party that was reliant on a diverse coalition of voters, and the Democratic Party that rode white rage to power. Rather, I am saying that when a party’s viability is dependent on a diverse coalition of voters, that party will necessarily stand for pluralism and equal rights, because its survival depends on it. And when a party is not diverse, it will rely on demonizing those who are different, because no constituency exists within that party to prevent it from doing so, or to show its members that they have nothing to fear.

    PLEASEOHPLEASEOHPLEASE!!!

    https://www.politicususa.com/2019/02/05/mike-pence-likely-implicated-in-trumps-sdny-criminal-charges.html

Earlier today we reported that when Trump fired Chris Christie as head of the transition team — and replaced him with Pence — it was because Christie would not go along with Trump’s scheme to steal $107 million in inauguration funds.

But what has not been reported is how this implicates the vice president in Trump’s obvious crimes. The only reason for Trump to put Pence in charge of the transition would be that Pence would raise no objections to letting him steal the $107 million. Trump knew Pence would do whatever he was told to do.

There is no doubt that the federal prosecutors in the SDNY have strong evidence against Trump for his inauguration crimes. This evidence includes not just a paper trail proving the crimes, but also witnesses who can testify about Trump’s criminal intent. It looks like a slam-dunk case against the president.

Unless Pence is/was smart enough to insulate himself by letting others do the dirty work and he was “in name” only as head of these Schemes. I can see Pence claiming as the great Shultz would say, “I know nothing”,

    Another good read

If Northam sincerely believes in the anti-racist principles he now espouses, then he should understand how important it is that the weakened social stigma against overt racism not be further undermined. That means that anti-racists must hold themselves to a higher standard than those who engage in discrimination, whether personally or through policy. Northam should go, not simply because of what he did, but because it is the only way to show his constituents that he truly turned his back on white supremacy.
