And victimized white womanhood is the ONE thing that can rally their base. She’s trying to be the new Sarah Palin. This is why the Messina and Axelrod were wrong to come to her defense and condemn Rosen. They made it look like the Obama campaign was attacking Ann Romney. They should have left it alone until asked. And then they should have mocked Romney campaign, praised Ann as a mom, and then used this to rattle off all the good POTUS has done for women and families. Instead, they helped make her a victim, which was Ann’s entire goal.
As my VP Biden would say, “We’ve seen this movie before.” Ann Romney is no victim. No one will ever believe that -not even the GOP base. And contrary to the garbage that the media has tried to tell you, Sarah Palin actually caused a lot of GOPers to flee McCain and sit home or vote for PBO. Palin did NOT rally the GOP base. The only base that was rallied consisted of those who would NEVER have voted for PBO anyway.
Messina and Axelrod were right to condemn those remarks and for doing it immediately. Doesn’t matter what Rosen actually said or that she isn’t part of Pres.Obama’s campaign. The story is going out as Obama adivsor says stay at homes don’t know hardship. Romney is trying to milk it and any hesitation or waiting in pushing back is more ammunition for Romney.
They did not come to HER defense, whether they distanced themselves from Ms. Rosen’s present and any future comments in regards to Mrs Romney as family is off limits. OK…I like your way too. Not because it would have stopped the RWNJs or the media from blowing this up and sliming democrats or the president but because it would have calmed the left wing poutrage.
Either way the Obama campaign will stand up for all women in general in regards to their health, wealth and freedoms. They will continue to leave family out of it. I remember during one of the debates after President Clinton had acted ugly and President Obama was calling Hilary Clinton on it she said something to the affect (sp) that we both have passionate and supportive spouses. Hey I expect Ann Romney will annoy the heck out of me many times defending her hubby. I believe she will do the same for many, many others.
Rock star? Neh, not so much. It sure did not work ALL those other times. :
And “The Hill’s” headline says “Hillary Rosen gives the Romney camp a chance to close the gender gap”. Tthis is a huge stretch. I would like to see a poll taken after this. I really don’t believe that a lot of women sympathizes with Ann Romney; especially on this issue.
Everyone knew what Rosen was talking about. Ann Romney has never worked a job outside of her home. That’s true. What’s the issue? The Hill is full of it. Women is the U.S. are outraged because a CNN contributor told the truth?
VP Biden is telling it like it is. He will crush in the debates whomever Willard selects as his running mate - be it Christie or Ryan. Thank you VP Biden :)
You probably right. He needs someone from the South, so my best bet would be either a southern senator with foreign policy credentials, or a southern governor like Virginia Bob McDonnell.
I would love to see him pick McDonnell. He is really, really dumb. He went to Pat Robertson’s law school in Virginia Beach. Rachel calls him Bob “Vaginal Probe” McDonnell because he originally supported a bill to require such tests before abortions. He backed down, but it has stuck with him. He also signed a bill to overturn a law limiting gun purchases to one a month. Gun purchases in Virginia are now unlimited and the state is considered a major source for illegal guns in DC and New York.
I agree with you 1000%. This fundie dummy is my governor, and he’s quite a joke. Maryland Governor O’Malley recently humiliated him in a “debate.” It was quite delicious. Biden would eat his lunch.
And for a state that has had two recent gun-related tragedies at Virginia Tech still fresh on the mind, this loosening of gun laws is simply immoral. But this is what you get when you elect a crazy tea potty legislature and governor.
Ann Romney: ‘We Need To Respect Choices That Women Make’
By Annie-Rose Strasser
———————————
But Romney’s positions have “evolved” to favor a conservative social agenda meant to endear him to the right wing. He now supports policies that limit women’s choices. Romney’s recent assaults on women’s health include “getting rid of” Planned Parenthood, supporting a personhood amendment, limiting contraception and restricting access to abortions.
Ann Romney’s message to women is clear: respect my choices, even if my husband may not respect yours.
That was terrific. They are being relentless with the messaging. This reminds me of the flawless rollout of The American Jobs Act. The GOP couldn’t catch their breath because everyday was AJA day.
“Dogs Against Romney” is reporting that Fred Malek, a Willard supporter, was involved in killing and barbecuing a dog in 1959. Got to love “Dogs Against Romney”.
WH hosting another Google Hangout folks!! - TODAY :)
// Today at 4:00 p.m. EST, the WHite House is hosting a Hangout on Google+ to discuss the Buffett Rule and tax fairness with Americans across the country. Jason Furman, Principal Deputy Director of the National Economic Council, will join the multi-person video chat live from the White House.//
I doubt many people in America know who Ann Romney is. All of these nonsense will be forgotten in a few days. Let’s not lose focus. The Obama campaign wants the focus to be on Mitt Romney and his disastrous policies for America. Ann Romney is just a distraction like Sarah Pain was 4 years ago. This election is not going to be decided on what was said, or not said about Ann Romney. I say give her some time, and she will eventually show her true color to the American people. She’s just as fake as her inept husband who has no clue as to why he’s running to be the President of the United States.
I turned to every cable channel and lo and behold, they are all discussing Ms. Rosen’s comment. I read the comments on the article written on Think Progress about this issue and not one comment agreed with Ann Romney. Like I said, when all is said and done, I don’t believe that this will change anyone’s opinion of the Romneys.
Oh, wow. I looked at that tweet, thought the photo was familiar, but didn’t get the connection. I was thinking of Reggie from Germany the other day, and trying to remember his daughter’s first name. He kept us all inspired on OFA, didn’t he? :)
Press Secretary Jay Carney wil be briefing the jackals momentarily. I expect each jackal to ask some variation of the Hilary Rosen/Ann Romney comments no matter how Jay responds. They will keep asking the question over and over again to ensure the GOP spin gets out on the airways.
The very first question is about Ann Romney. Mitt Romney is claiming Hilary is close to the White House. They claim Hilary Rosen visited the White House 35 times. Jackals focusing on Rosen and not White House policy on women.
Jay responds……(paraphrasing)
Raising children is an extremely difficult job for mothers and fathers. The very first piece of legislation PBO signed was Lily Ledbetter Act. Why did it take PBO to do this? GOP opposed it and presumably still do. When he took office men and women were losing jobs. There was a forum at the White House last week on women and the economy. One of the principle elements of the American Jobs Act was to hire teachers. We have had private sector job growth for over 20 months. Local governments have shed jobs. Republicans opposed that provision. Cuts to pell grants, headstart program, Women Infants and Children Program would impact women. Changing Medicate as we know it benefits would impact women. On and on …….
Let’s not let them play us guys. Hilary’s were inartf, but her overall point will be understood by every woman who has NO choice bit to work from home!
This subject needs to close ASAP. Sometimes being right isn’t enough. The subject is divisive among women (which is the repugs. goal), to divide us. Politics 101: leave the candidate’s wife alone. Follow FLOTUS’s example.
And Thank YOU, pamelabrown53! You hit the nail on the head: they are trying to divide women. PBO’s big lead among women scares the bejeezus out of the Romney camp, and they and MSM are trying mightily to drive a wedge into that consensus group.
It’s not about Ann Romney at all, not really. It doesn’t matter that she’s not your typical stay-at-home mom and has no idea of what it really means to struggle. It’s about pitting “career women” vs “stay-at-home moms.” Let’s not help them!
Interesting an ex-Senator Hillary Clinton for President support made comments about Mrs. Romney and a poll just came out giving First Lady Michelle high marks!!! Not saying there is a connect but, interesting….
Funny you should bring that up because I was thinking of Hilary Rosen when I was out running and I remembered her from the primaries..not exactly what it was but that I did not like was she was saying about then Senator Obama.
F**king willard does not get to use Hilary Rosen as a way for him to get away from his WAR ON WOMEN.

I think it elevates her in a negative way. It makes her look like a whiner playing victim. It also makes her look weak, and she is actually calling attention to her husband’s lousy policies regarding women.

To mark the occasion, American Bridge 21st Century released this video, showing Romney’s remarks at the time, many of which sound, with the benefit of hindsight, like a defense of President Obama’s Affordable Care Act.
.
.
The single best and most impressive thing Romney has done in his entire adult life is, paradoxically, the one thing he’s least eager to talk about. To shine a light on his achievement is to remind voters of his support for government mandates, while inadvertently making the case for the same Obama law Romney has promised to destroy, regardless of the consequences.
This wasn’t an issue during Romney’s 2008 campaign, because the GOP had not yet rejected the health care ideas they had traditionally supported. Now, he’s stuck between a rock and hard place.
Jeebus, thank you hopefruit. All we’ve done is feed fire to the flames and assist the Romney campaign in their divisive efforts.
INSTEAD of building on yesterday’s “we’ll get back to you” answer on Lily Ledbetter. We’ve fallen for their faux outrage with its goal to deflect and divide.
Back on message: whatever a woman’s path via choice or necessity she must be respected…and here is how Romney’s policies disrepect women: 1), 2), 3), 4). Badabing badaboom. No division here.
This is the official beginning of the campaign season, the first inkling of what we have to look forward to over the next several months. It’s all coming back now, right?
Yes Meta, we might as well get ready for the media to try and force the Romneys down our throats, and help them win the White House. However, we are not going to let that happen. I am happy that more folks are suspicious of the media and only watch the media for entertainment. They have lost most of their credibility.
good. she should have handled herself better but we all make mistakes. Let’s hope she does better in the future. Politics is all about knowing what to say and when to say it.
Oh give Mitt a home, where the buffalo roam
But it can’t be in Washington DC
Let’s give Mitt a home, where the buffalo roam
In the back woods where no one can’t see
There once was a chap called Mitt,
who really was a terrible twit,
he made millions from firing,
hardly ever hiring,
and for the White House he was entirely unfit.

Obama knocks Romney ‘social agenda from the 1950s’
By ALEXANDER BURNS | 4/12/12 2:26 PM EDT
In a fundraising message, President Barack Obama paints a grim picture of what he says Mitt Romney has “pledged to do” as president, and picks up his advisers’ description of Romney as a blast from the past:
He would shower billionaires with more huge tax breaks, oppose setting a timeline to bring our troops home from Afghanistan, starve investments in clean energy research, and make it harder for students to afford to go to college. He’d outlaw a woman’s right to choose and completely cut funding for Planned Parenthood.
We can’t afford an endless war in Afghanistan, a return to policies that hurt the middle class, and a social agenda from the 1950s.
In addition to the “1950s” jab — which is an undercurrent in the whole Hilary Rosen contretemps — it’s notable that a president who escalated the war in Afghanistan is now so openly preparing to campaign on ending that conflict.
I love Biden can’t wait.
1st Chipsticks you know what to do!
Oh, my memory’s fading  Is this the one, Proud?
Oh yes indeed this is one of my favorites, even when he is soaking wet he is still so smooth! Thanks.

Ah, okay, thanks Hopefruit, I missed that. Will check his comments, just hope he’s okay.
Just checked Hopefruit, you’re right, Yardarm said he was heading out of town for a few days, hopefully he’ll be back soon!

Helloooooooo sherijr!
Ah, I hear Bruce blasting - love it!
Mrs. Willard is becoming as irritating as Willard.
Yes, she’s auditioning to take Sarah Palin’s place as one of the most despised females in political consciousness…
Right. Like Michelle Malkin and her sheeple wouldn’t have coalesced behind Romney anway. Pffft.
Exactly.
BINGO!!
Why do theg do that!?!?!?
They did not come to HER defense, whether they distanced themselves from Ms. Rosen’s present and any future comments in regards to Mrs Romney as family is off limits. OK…I like your way too. Not because it would have stopped the RWNJs or the media from blowing this up and sliming democrats or the president but because it would have calmed the left wing poutrage.

seriously……. given their breadth of experience, I think I’ll go with Axe and Messina on this one.
the whole romney clan is irritating.

The Hill is advertising the fact that the media and GOP are in full desperation mode and will use anything as a political pawn.
Right here!! Stop carrying this empty suit’s water.
that headline is both laughable and a bridge to NOWHERE. If I weren’t holding my wizz I’d laugh my ass off.
hahahaha. Love it.
Of course. I knew this was coming. It was only a matter of time. Be prepared for more.
You know, I could eat VP Biden sometimes. Not literally, honest, just in a love-ya-deeply kind of way:
VP Biden is telling it like it is. He will crush in the debates whomever Willard selects as his running mate - be it Christie or Ryan. Thank you VP Biden :)
Also, he will not hold back in the next VP debate as he did with the moronic half term governor.
Who do you think he’s likely to pick as his running mate?
Whoever Karl Rove instructs him to. He’s a puppet and has no independent ideas. That’s why he’s a danger to society and wrong for the Presidency.

The ‘Romneycare’ anniversary
By Steve Benen
———————————————-
To mark the occasion, American Bridge 21st Century released this video, showing Romney’s remarks at the time, many of which sound, with the benefit of hindsight, like a defense of President Obama’s Affordable Care Act.
.

This woman makes that privileged ice queen Cindy McCain appear humble and empathetic!
Okay it’s time to move on from this nontroversy. We have more important things to focus on.
Yes, thank goodness there are many, many more aware of the manipulation and the priorities of the media.
good. she should have handled herself better but we all make mistakes. Let’s hope she does better in the future. Politics is all about knowing what to say and when to say it.
Oh give Mitt a home, where the buffalo roam
But it can’t be in Washington DC
Let’s give Mitt a home, where the buffalo roam
In the back woods where no one can’t see
There once was a chap called Mitt,
who really was a terrible twit,
he made millions from firing,
hardly ever hiring,
and for the White House he was entirely unfit.
Thank you, thank you.
WIN! Is this less than 140 characters?
Lol, Chips. Wild and fervent appalause ensues!
Applause, applause……
Now, for my next poem:
“I wandered lonely as a cloud…….”
What do you mean it’s plagiarized?! How dare you!
*and the crowd goes wild*
Intrade:
President Obama 60.7%
Mitt Cayman Island Romney 38.1%
A tweet from the Catholic League:
“Lesbian Dem Hilary Rosen tells Ann Romney she never worked a day in her life. Unlike Rosen, who had to adopt kids, Ann raised 5 of her own.”
Completely disgusting. Full on Disgusting.
Classy…..
isn’t the Catholic League one overweight white guy living in his mother’s basement with his blow-up doll wife named ‘Mary’ aka Marishka shipped straight out of a Russian sweatshop?
LOL…I have no idea. Saw it on TPM
