President Obama arrives in Jordan

Back later with more photos and videos - and (once I scrape it off the ceiling, clean the dust/cobwebs off it and reassemble it) VCâs birthday cake

Howdy!
Congrats on 1st.
Thank you.
Congrats CarolMae!
Thank you Sabreen đ
Picture almost looks like a painting.
Same thought ran through my mind.
GB, you mean that first one, right? PBO & Rabbi? It caught my attention.
yes
So true!
The lighting in the photo is so dramatic. It is the kind of light that inspires me to paint.
More please. Iâm waiting.
Am I first? Iâve never been first before…..but I bet someone else tied or beat me…..
I knew it…..Iâm slow….but nice to be early on the thread for a change. Must say I thoroughly enjoyed all the pictures from the Denver Post. Thanks to whoever posted that link! Now that Iâve seen stills of the Jordanian welcome, I want to see the video. I never could get it “Live streaming”……will it be posted?
Youâre welcome, Carolyn! I thought I was getting carried away w/ all those photo links! LOL! Nice feast for the eyes!
Iâm happy to take the bronze medal. Congrats Carol and gobrooklyn on 1st place tie!
Sorry hopefruit…..my time is one minute earlier than yours, so Iâm tied for bronze. Never been that high before!!!
Iâm not conceding yet. Iâm waiting to hear from Karl Rove. Remember, Ohio could still turn this thing around, you know.
:-)
LOL - In Oz time Iâm always first - being 14 hours ahead - I should join up with Karl Rove
Thank you Hopefruit. Iâm really the first of the last!
Wow. Gorgeous. Wow.
Thanks. I love the colors.
beautiful!
THREE “Carols” in the top five today. As Jodi Kantor would say, Hmmm…..
Congrats Carol…oh so close GoBK.
[Continuing my RIP Chinua Achebe from comment at end of previous post]:
[…..] Achebe won the Commonwealth poetry prize for his collection Christmas in Biafra, was a finalist for the 1987 Booker prize for his novel Anthills of the Savannah, and in 2007 won the Man Booker international prize. Chair of the judges on that occasion, Elaine Showalter, said he had “inaugurated the modern African novel”, while her fellow judge, the South African Nobel laureate Nadine Gordimer, said his fiction was “an original synthesis of the psychological novel, the Joycean stream of consciousness, the postmodern breaking of sequence”, and that Achebe was “a joy and an illumination to read”.
Nelson Mandela, meanwhile, has said that Achebe “brought Africa to the rest of the world” and called him “the writer in whose company the prison walls came down”. […..]

R.I.P. Chinua Achebe.
The world is a better place because you were here.
The view from Isreal, upon President Obamaâs departure.
What is the Paper that Sheldon Adlerson(sp) owns in Israel? It could not be Haaretz or Jerusalem Post. So why the disconnection with pres Obama in Israel?
The nation of Israel is a sophisticated nation. It is modern. It has other ways that information is delivered to them. So why ‘am I hearing how they now love/like president Obama? They are not low information populace as close to half of our fellow citizens here in USA. So I donât really get the disconnect. This president has Never done anything wrong against Israel. This POTUS has increased their foreign aid and military aid. So what ‘am I missing?
Maybe like so many others, they were mad that he had not visited them and wanted “love & attention” from Daddy. Now they got some and all is well?
Thank you, HF.
Nailed it. Where, I wonder, are the adults?
I was watching Martin Bashir yesterday and he had on a professor who claims PBO gave up on the peace talks in the Mid East, I wondered if he thought the same thing when other POTUSâs semi-tried, or did he expect PBO to work “their miracles” for them. Why canât they get their own shit together instead of looking for other people to solve their problems?
As for the Syrians, why are they looking to the USA to arm them etc,? why not the rest of the world? I donât get it.
He owns the Israeli daily newspaper Israel HaYom. You are not missing much, but what happens is a narrative gets built, starting in the US and then like lemmings everyone else follows. In Israel, when you have had a RW GOV you do not go against the grain, for fear of losing access. Same story different continent.
Thanks, LovelyPlains.
Sheldon Adelson owns Yom Tov which I think means good day. It is like Rupert Murdochâs newspapers, propaganda for the 1%.
The Israeli people, especially the young ones, are very different from us because all of them have to serve in the military. They are forced to confront reality daily and the endless war is all around them. The endless war over which they have no control and which makes the Sheldon Adelsons and weapons manufaturers wealthy.
Nothing like our young people plugged into constant entertainment.
Winning them over with a message that they can hope for a more normal life is what POTUS did. Thatâs a bell that Yom Tov and right wing hawks canât unring.
HaYom, sorry
Very helpful analysis, Vicki. Thanks.
Just plain WOW!
Thank you Chips and the other blog tyrants for bringing the Presidentâs trip to us at TOD. I appreciate having a place for actual new about POTUS. Also, I hope there is video of the welcome ceremony in Jordan, because have never seen a welcome ceremony with camels, it would make my day!
Happy Birthday, VC. Will be in meetings next several hours so wanted to be sure to post a greeting before the day ends!!
#FORWARD
Niiiiice!  Greatly appreciated, Bobfr! See, another TOD sibling who knows me well enough to know that I like receiving greetings on THE day. I am blessed indeed. Thanks, friend!
Happy Birthday VC! Sorry Iâm late.
Happy Birthday VC True beauty in a woman is reflected in the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows. - Audrey Hepburn
Flowers? For me? Why, thank you, Carolmae, and for the music too! I feel pampered.
Good! That was the idea… Here is a place to sit.
She is certainly dressed to party! I like her colours.
I posted a peacock, it was meant to be something else. Post on new thread and Iâll have a better place to hide.
NP - I did like her dress as it fit her perfectly.
Happy Birthday VC!!!
Thank YOU, Betsy. Iâve been enjoying each moment.
Looks like the U.S. embassy in Jordan has this twitter thing figured out….Paging Cairo, step your game up.
This picture was taken in the US - last year during the campaign season. Why are they tweeting it as #ObamainJordan?!?
They have been posting random factoids about the President all week. Soft power….gets picked up in the Jordanian press.
The two adorable towheads in the photo would have a tough time passing as Jordanians. There are probably very few blonde children in Jordan. It is great photo, but a bit misleading.
You know that King Abdullahâs mother Queen Nor(Lisa Najeeb Halaby) is an American blonde woman right?
Step-mother.
Yes widowed wife of his father in â91 I believe. Here is King Abdullah II visiting the WH during the Ford admin.
And I believe she lives between London and Washington.
I think they are just throwing out snippets about the Pres and visuals help to show his ‘realâ side, Hf. Theyâd hardly be able to come up with lots of in-Jordan pics. Or maybe they use hashtags in a slightly different way - kind of like #Obama (the man who is) in Jordan (right now). Yeah, yeah, Hopefruit, two stupid explanations. I have no answer but I have to say that I got a chuckle while typing my stupidity.
Happy B-day VC! Nothing you ever type, or for that matter anyone types is stupid. TOD is a sounding board, nobody has all the answers. I for one, surely am more wrong than right.
Why thank you, Lovely P. Itâs a great feeling having a birthday in TODville Village!
Happy Birthday …VCCCCCCCC…how you did something…SUPERACALIFRAGISTIC……
I did, PF58; I did exactly what I wanted to do, including giving my contractor/workman the day off so I could have a quiet day at home. Itâs been fun. Thank you for your kind wishes.
Yes I knew POTUS work in a ice cream shop, FLOTUS told the story when she was talking about when they had their first kiss.
BWD is engaging in a respectuful back and forth with the Toddster, hereâs my 2 cents:

oopsie, I deleted the above tweet, see if you can spot why

“The 39th time was not the charm on Obamacare repeal”
By Steve Benen
http://maddowblog.msnbc.com/_news/2013/03/22/17416993-the-39th-time-was-not-the-charm-on-obamacare-repeal?lite
————-
The Senate on Friday rejected another GOP attempt to repeal President Obamaâs healthcare law.
An amendment to the Senate budget resolution from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) failed on a 45-54 vote on Friday. Cruzâs amendment would have repealed the Affordable Care Act and encouraged patient-centered reforms to reduce costs.
Senate Republicans knew Cruzâs amendment was pointless, and knew it wouldnât pass, but literally every GOP senator voted for it anyway — just because.
At this point, some of you may be wondering, “Exactly how many Obamacare repeal votes are we up to now?” By one estimate, the new total is 39 times.
…this new Congress has only been in session for two months. At least in theory, members of both parties should be hard at work at, you know, governing. There are all kinds of problems in need of policymakersâ attention, and pointless vanity exercises about repealing a law that isnât going anywhere may make Republicans feel warm inside, but theyâre clearly not serious.
There is a certain irony underscoring recent events. To listen to Republican rhetoric on Capitol Hill is to hear a series of complaints about President Obama: heâs not being “serious” enough about getting things done; heâs too focused on electoral considerations; heâs not “leading” in a way the far-right finds satisfactory; heâs reaching out to his rivals on the other side of the aisle but he doesnât really mean it.
But itâs against this backdrop that Republicans vote, over and over again, to repeal a health care law they know wonât be repealed…keep this in mind the next time we hear whining about the White House not being “serious” enough about constructive policymaking?
———-
If at once you donât succeed, try, try, try again. These fools are going to keep on trying maybe forever.

Has anyone else noticed that the SS people all seem to be new? I have looked for my Silver Fox and have not seen him? I hope he didnât get cut in the sequester!!!!!
Happy Birthday to VC, and may our President continue to make friends and headway in the Middle East. The photos and video are stunning - thanks to Chips and all for posting!
I thank you, JF, and I am confident our President has made a lasting impact on many young people both in Israel and Palestine. Now we wait, like Iâd been waiting patiently for him to put Bibi in his place when the time was right.
THIS IS WHAT LEADERSHIP LOOKS LIKE
The importance of Netanyahuâs surprising apology
By Steve Benen
——————————————
President Obamaâs trip to the Middle East appears to have already produced a significant diplomatic breakthrough that few saw coming.
.
.
But the fact that Obamaâs leadership helped broker this diplomacy is encouraging. As Noga Tarnopolsky noted, itâs “no small thing to convince Israel to apologize for military activity.”

This is HUGE HUGE HUGE.
PBO went nose-to-nose with the bully and look who blinked.
Mrs. Greenspan is going to be laying in a darkened room with a soothing cloth laid across her temples. or something like that.
Chips, again that you for all the coverage. It is and has always been monumental. Every new thread, I tweet the link to the media. I am getting ready for work and will check back in when I get home before eleven. Love all your efforts. Happy Birthday VC and health to LL wife.
Shalom, Shushana
Thanks PMGZ and have a good afternoon at work!
At least she finally owned it up. She started the Saturday Show last week, sitting in for MHP and her questions were troubling, accusatory and unlike JoyAnn Reid.
Now she has owned up her idiocy. That I say, Good for Her.
I do not understand why anyone would ever underestimate PBO.
Being underestimated is one of the best weapons a person can have against their detractors.
I donât think you get to even sub at msnbc without checking your progressive, pragmatic integrity at the door. Itâs so sad and I REALLY donât wand to see Joy Reid go down the path of Alex Wagner and MHP. If anyone can fight the corporate b.s., itâs her.
Heh! Joy Reid was not the only one who was cynical…I recall having had a Twitter convo a day or so prior to his trip:
Now, my objective here is not to pull an “I-told-you-so.” This is not about me or BWD/Joy Ann Reid as much as itâs about PBOâs reliable judgment and brilliance. Iâm just trying to say that weâve got to learn to trust this president and give him the support and full confidence that he deserves. Heâs EARNED it for Christâs sake.
Girl, you NAILED IT from the beginning. As Bobfr always says “#TrustBarack - Heâs earned it”
Yes #TrustBarack is Bobâs trademark hashtag :)
Cheers and more cheers for BWD and this entire exchange. I too have a very good idea who PBO is and I trust him to do the right thing always.
oops BWD was a doubting thomas not for the first time as I recall
Telling POTUS that he canât do something is a motivator for him. Where many would take the criticism and give up, our President steps up his game, and more times than not, proves the criticizers wrong by being successful.
nicely stated all around hopefruit! Right there with you- totally trust President Obama.
That is why your name is “hopefruit2″. I admire you standing your grounds and speaking the truth even to a friend. Now, thatâs class!
I may not cross every “T” and dot every “I”……but one thing I am is “hopeful.”
Every day I wake up I am so grateful PBO is our President. I expect him to be prepared, thoughtful, caring, articulate, peaceful and tolerant. The same qualities I myself hope for, to be better than I was the day before.
He inspires me to do a mirror check and call me out before I call out someone else. How dare I not encourage someone?
Grew up in the South with too much fear and hate. It will show up on the outside and age you and cause unnecessary physical pain.
I donât always understand the nervousness coming from those who support this president.
Parents worry about their children. I get that. PBO is No Child. Other that Maya and now his family, he is alone. But he had great roots. He has accomplished a lot. No one is perfect. This POTUS would first to state so.
In pres Obama I trust. Some anxiety and fear would slowly melt away if really some would just have the faith and Trust pres Obama.
HF……you did great.
We tell this president to try. So when he does and is trying his best, the least we can do is SUPPORT him.
HF - thank you - it is ALL about having a clue about PBO - when his staunchest of supporters continue to undercut him - it is just sad.
Why was she cynical to begin with. She better not get into my Black Book. I can dump her in a heartbeat.
Maybe sitting in “THAT” seat compelled you to be cynical….But come on, I thought you were bigger than that. Please donât change who you are like MHP did. She sure fooled the hell out of me. I am wiser now. It takes a strong, confident woman to humble herself.
Do not become a “Toddler Reporter”……
STAY FOUCS!
WAAAAAAAAAA WAAAAAAAAA. You guys ainât right. Everybody keeps posting all of these interesting links. I wander off reading, and commenting; meanwhile all of you have run off and left me all by myself. Iâm going to tell PBO on you!!!!!
;)…..Hello Alycee. Hereâs……Alycee.
Hi Nena!
Alycee, that is EXACTLY my problem! No matter how I tell myself Iâm not going to follow every link so that I can keep up, I always get caught. Part of it I know is nosiness - always wanting to understand each reference thatâs made.
Hey, VC. Same here. Whatâs worse is when Iâm not feeling well; Iâll nod off while typing a comment and when I awake, you guys are two or three threads down the road!
(in my best Aretha voice) Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday dear VC. Happy Birthday to you.
Wishing you love, peace and joy!
Wishes joyfully accepted, Alycee! I have had the kind of day that I dreamed of. I have done nothing except accept good wishes and feed my face when it protested.
VC, Happy Birthday!
Another year…….a President making history and PEACE at the same time…..on your birthday!
What a life!
GREAT to have THIS President in control, isnât it, LDS? Itâs wonderful to be alive, thank you (ps. except that I only COUNT the extra year part when it suits me - like when I want to tell someone to show respect for my age ;) ).
At some point youâd think the MSM would learn that, though it may have been the case in the past, they cannot create the story; especially when it comes to President Obama.
During the 2012 campaign, their story was that Romney would win. It did not happen.
On this trip, their story was about how disliked the President is in Israel and how terrible this trip was going to go. It did not happen. Mr. Todd even set out to remind the Israelis that they are not supposed to like President Obama by throwing out the negative questions during the press conference. It didnât work.
So, rather than report on the successes of the Presidentâs trip â which for other presidents would have gotten 24/7 coverage â they decided to TRY to make it a non-story. Thatâs not working either because, contrary to their belief, they are not the only source of information. Thank goodness, there are other sources that are more reliable and that are not trying to create a story to suit their purpose.
MSNBC on in background
Lets see if MSM reports this.
This is the top story on Al Jazeera. I am going to watch how The guardian and NYTimes cover it.
POTUS the Peacemaker.
And this amazing journey is not over yet!
Washington Post…Yes, Netanyahuâs apology to Turkey is a very big deal http://t.co/kxwXYW54IW
TY Sabreen. I think they did.
There is a lot going on beneath the surface here…..a pre-cursor to resuming Peace talks wouldâve began w/ this first step. Also, the Obama admin is letting Bibi save face….leaking that was his idea.
We hear you loud and clear!
Thank you for sacrificing a “title” for PEACE!
Quote for today:” Classy women connects with a President who has class.”

With a lot of attention focused on PBOâs trip and budget hassles, etc. it is important that a particular organization doesnât think they are getting off lightly.

“NRA-Driven Gun Provisions Pass Along With Spending Bill”
by Tamara Keith
http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpolitics/2013/03/21/174969923/nra-driven-gun-provisions-pass-along-with-spending-bill
The House voted overwhelmingly Thursday to approve a temporary measure to keep the government funded through the end of September. Government shutdown averted.
But it turns out the continuing resolution didnât just address spending. It contains six measures that limit how federal agencies deal with guns.
The continuing resolution makes four of these riders permanent.
One rider prevents the Department of Justice from requiring gun dealers to conduct an inventory to see if guns are lost or stolen. Another requires the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to make it clear that any data from criminal traces on guns canât be used to draw broad conclusions about firearms-related crime.

Although it would create chaos for many, I wish the President would veto the CRA and tell them to either override the veto or send back a clean bill for sig.
“FAA to close 149 control towers to meet budget cuts”
http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/03/22/us-usa-towers-closures-idUSBRE92L11J20130322
The Federal Aviation Administration said on Friday it will close 149 air traffic control towers beginning on April 7 to meet required automatic spending cuts. Another 40 towers previously slated for closure will remain open, the agency said in a statement.
WASHINGTON â President Barack Obama withdrew his nomination of Caitlin Halligan to a federal appeals court Friday, conceding to Republicans in the Senate who twice blocked his pick for the key judicial post.
Calling the obstruction by Republicans unjustified and unacceptable, Obama said he was pulling Halliganâs name from consideration even though he believed she would have served with distinction on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
“I am deeply disappointed that even after nearly two and a half years, a minority of senators continued to block a simple up-or-down vote on her nomination,” Obama said in a statement the White House issued while he was traveling in Jordan.
Senate Republicans blocked Halliganâs confirmation for a second time in early March, arguing that Halligan is too liberal and citing her work on lawsuits against gun manufacturers and on behalf of illegal immigrants. A majority of senators, 51, supported Halliganâs nomination, but Democrats needed 60 votes in the 100-member Senate to get it past Republican objections.
Democrats have accused the GOP of trying to maintain a conservative majority on a key appellate court.
AP
Isnât that a shame? Infuriating beyond belief. Iâm so sick of these bully Republicans. Every day a new outrage.
Harry “no nuts” Reid! :-(
LACK OF FIILIBUISTER REFORM CONTINUES TO HOLD US BACK….
Martin bashir right out of the gate is voicing criticism of PBO because he “hasnât done enough on Syria.”
Maybe he will get to the spectacular success of trip to Israel and the peace made between Israel and Turkey.
Maybe.
But first segment has on a demented hawk calling for arming Syrian rebels. off to war we go. F-k that.
Martin is an enemy like all the rest of them. He must be under deep threat. Donât we all recall admiration of POTUS?
Rev. Al is the only reliable supporter of PBO on MSNBC. I do not understand their agenda.
I think we both understand their agenda but it is too terrifying to contemplate, let alone write about.
Now Martin is talking about Michelle Bachmann.
TV off.
Tiger is playing on the golf channel. MSNBC is as hard to handle as FOX. They are just more subtle.
Martin did not speak positively about Michelle Bachman. I have always seen Bashir as an adamant PBO supporter. His background may have him favoring specific actions concerning the Arab world. No one is 100% in support with everything someone does or does not do.
I missed that, but Iâm going to defend Bashir. He was the ONLY one on msnbc for many moons who was consistently supportive of President Obama (before Rev. Al)—-and the only one who had the courage to tell uncomfortable truths about Romney (and all the Repub candidates before his nomination)—-when all others seemed to be cheering for a toss up election or a Romney win —-and the only one consistently critical of the Repub agenda and obstruction and their utter ridiculousness. I donât mind an occasional authentic difference of opinion —-I would guess most people are not in total agreement with President Obama on everything, on every detail.
dotster, we agree that Martin was consistently supportive, ” was” being the important word. Lately he does GOP news and views. Sure sometimes he laughs at them but still GOP is the story he is choosing to cover.
Today the big story actually is triumph in the middle east. Peace moves between Netanyahu & Erdogan. PBO cheered in Israel.
And Martin is kvetching about doing enough for Syria. Emphasis is distorted. Donât you think it is fair to judge a news program by what it covers and what it ignores?
Martin must realize the MSM is extremely negative towards PBO. Unless Martin is under pressure from his producers to be critical of PBO one would think he has the ability to avoid negative segments. His piece on Syria was hardly breaking new ground. It was the same old neocon war mongering. With the negative press it is not necessary for Martin to pile on. No one on FOX is criticizing Rand Paul or Ted Cruz. The country is at a cross roads and very few in the MSM are supporting the progressive side.
This is what living in a highly controled country is like. There is no progressive side.
Rev. Al is all GOP tonight. Et tu, Brutus?
When our Presidentâs highly sucessful journey abroad is smothered in favor of several hours worth of Bachmann and her nonsense is the big story, I think our democracy is in Big Trouble.
dotster3 - I may have missed a change because I havenât really watched Martin in days (which is unusual), but otherwise I agree with everything youâve written here. He and Rev. Al and Lawrence (at the moment) are the only three I can watch faithfully without gagging.
So what should POTUS do about Syria? Send in the troops.
WITH ALL THESE CALLS FOR INTERVENTION IN SYRIA….LET US REMEMBER IRAQ…
You didnât STOP ME! LOL! Continuing my fascination w/ trip photos, here are some from Jordan (the red carpet industry is doing quite well, thank you!):
http://3chicspolitico.com/2013/03/22/photos-president-obama-receives-welcoming-ceremony-in-jordan/
Great pix. thank you!
Youâre welcome, Vicki! Link to Pabloâs photos below. Enjoy!
Youâre the culprit that had me wandering off in the wilderness, looking at all the pics, while everyone else had pulled stakes and run off to the next thread!
THANK YOU!
I plead the fifth, or whatever number gets me out of this! LOL! More right below! //running away// :)
Youâre welcome, Alycee! Off to PBO photo addiction rehab! :)
Thank you.
Too late, you canât stop me now, Iâm beyond intervention! LOL! 23 Photos by PABLO MARTINEZ MONSIVAIS, & heâs got a different shot of PBO & the Rabbi, photo #5. And photo #9 is a lovely one, taken of PBO from the back, head & shoulders. Photo #16 w/ the King of Jordan — damn their military(?) has some interesting uniforms — knives, swords, & shiny whatnots. My ignorance of military wear is just awesome! :)

nope. i saw his opening statement. unless he said something during the segment, he just made it seem like he was always opposed
ask him to respond to this

OMG, 4more—worse than I even remembered it. Chris M is and always has been a tool and fan of whoever he thinks has the power.
I doubt anyone takes a word he says seriously.
No wonder MSNBC gives him 2 hours. What a waste.
Note how Matthews addressed GW Bush. It never fails.
Since Jan 20, 2009, Matthews calls Pres Obama……from Obama, Barack, Barack Obama, this fellow in the White House to pres. Obama. Matthews also did the same thing to Bill Clinton. He always addressed him until 2009 just like Matthews does today with the current POTUS.
The gut is the scum of flip flopper.
That mediamatters is a great find. I skimmed through it, made me puke. We were not the least bit impressed by that stunt….knew it for what it was. Also, not ALL women were impressed at all. He was a phony and we knew it. Chris canât get by with saying he was against the war….we have the tape!!! How sickening that all was.
Thank you Todd for keeping us abreast on”who said what when.”
It is simply amazing how they switch gears from year to year, month to month, week to week, day to day. That is why Romney was so comfortable lying. He knew the media would not push back because they were paid media whores.
We must call them out every chance and not let up.
Thank you guys for not letting up on Chuck Toddler……he deserves everything and more he is getting.
This disrespect has to stop! They praised that Dumbya Bush every chance they could.
And please do not be fooled by Chris Crispy…..he is another Rudy Gulliani waiting in the wings. So glad he is done in NYC.
Do not ever trust a bully ever! If they share their donuts, they will find a way to take it back while they gloat and brag about how they did it.
…..sorry, to many “dâs” there. TOD
Just so angry how the US media treats our President while all over the world he is loved and highly respected.
I admire him so much for his patience and inner peace.
PBO is smarter than all of us. Hasnât he said he watches little cable news and much prefers ESPN?
This gets the prize for the best articulated reason why we donât like Chuck Todd, (despite our “anger issues” which he alleges is the reason):
another one, in the same vein as above
That is a beauty.
Chuck Todd asked for it. So people delivered , I guess.
LOVE that Shoe….
2 Ga. teenagers—14 and 17—-arrested for shooting a baby in the head and killing him today as a mother walked him in a stroller. Shooting babies now. Every kid has a gun. Sicker than sick.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/sns-rt-us-usa-georgia-crimebre92l0le-20130322,0,3673468.story
As an aside, the media was implying that since there were no known witnesses (at least on the part of the media), maybe the heartbroken mother had something to do with it. I am so glad these two suspects were found and arrested, not just because of the baby but because that mother didnât need any more angst than sheâs already handling.
I would really like to know what leads young men to act in this way - are they so poor and so deserted by humanity - that stealing and shooting is 100% their lives. I have no doubt it was all their own work - and nothing but tears and sympathy for the family - my sanity would be gone if this ever happened to me - but I still wonder about the reality of life on the streets with a gun.
That the GOP are still allowed to be against gun restrictions - with no comeback is disgusting. Only pro gun democrats seem to get attacked in the media. Like the attack on Gabby Giffords - politics and policy have alot to do with the never ending gun culture that results in babies dying. The party of “pro life” is so anti life it is unbelievable.
Wow, I just saw a rifle ad aired during Rev. Alâs show. Surely MSNBC is not that desperate for ads.
Joy Reid is a class act. She called herself out on Twitter, for her early cynicism about PBOâs trip, then retracted all of it. I thanked her, and told her some of us had been disappointed in her remarks since we hold her in high esteem (or something like that). She responded to me (and, of course, now I feel guilty, but it gave me another chance to applaud her).

If only he could conquer better coverage on the evening “news”
OK Al says next story up is POTUS in middle east. better late than never.
