It is a very touching photo, Chips, because we know he has the capacity to grasp the vast suffering that Vad Yashem memorializes.
As he stands there one can only wonder if he is also reflecting on the fact that in less than 60 years, more Americans have died from gun shot wounds, in non-combat situations throughout America, than ALL Americans killed in ALL American wars - an unfathomable tragedy in a Nation that aspires to ensure the unalienable rights of Life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness to every American.
Please forgive re-posting this plea the previous thread …
“Dear Chips & TODers – Ron Conway is a force, no question about it. Would likely save way more lives if as many of you as possible could impress on him that he and his rich pals could actually make a lot more $$$ if they de-geeked on the tech and simply demanded legislation that required mandatory liability insurance on an gun manufacturer (GUNS EXIST TO KILL), seller or ANY person who uses a gun. They can invest in the insurance underwriters, and reap an ROI from an entirely new revenue stream that such legislation would enable in those underwriters who offered coverage.
@VP @GabbyGiffords perhaps partner with @RonConway & besides gun safety tech, push for mandatory liability insurance for gun makers & users.

Let’s see if we can catalyze these folk having substantive discussions about what really matters – holding EVERYONE who makes, sells or uses a gun & ammo, LIABLE.”
Until we establish a social fabric that holds everyone in the gun & ammo supply and user chain responsible we will not even begin to stem the slaughter. If we could do it with restrictions on tobacco use, we certainly can prevail when the reality is that guns and ammo exist for one reason - to KILL (and, target practice, btw, is about refining the ability to KILL, apart from whatever recreational ‘fun’ and ‘status’ it may impart to the shooter).
One never has to worry about Pres. Obama on the international stage. His grasp of the issues, his diplomacy, and the manner in which he conducts himself to fit every situation is a delight to behold. It’s nice having a leader named Barack Obama.
You are absolutely right, UT! And for those who were worried about his safety, I think he is much safer abroad than he is in the U.S. There so many vicious, and well armed, people in this country who passionately hate him. Thank God for the SS, which is vigilant in protecting him and his family.
I wanted to say that nath - but didn’t want anyone upset. Few countries have gun availability like in the US. I really wonder why they have to take the monster of a car around the world - I don’t know of any political leader that seems to need protection as does PBO.
This has been a rough day. I bid you all a goodnight. Sweet dreams. Very grateful PBO is safely home in the family embrace. His place of peace and joy! Like TOD Is for many! See you in the morning.

Thanks for sharing this tweet by TCC. It should be re-twitted over and over again! I would even add on St. Ronnie’s over 200 marines in Lebanon; and the over 400 people killed in the PanAm bombing under Bush Sr.
I have always though that the Lockerbee Pan Am bombing took place during Reagan’s time. Granted, GH Bush was his VP and it happened in Dec 1988, GW Bush had already won in Nov 1988. Reagan ordered a bombing that supposedly killed Qaddafi’s younger daughter. In 2011, the real story was that she didn’t die.
259 died because of the bomb. 11 died on the ground.
Your memory, both about the dates and the number of people killed in the PanAm bombing, is much better than mine. Thank you so much for correcting me that the bombing took place under St. Ronnie and not under Poppy Bush. Still, why didn’t McCain demand an investigation about what President Reagan and Vice-President George H.W. Bush knew about the terrorist bombings that killed over two hundred marines in Lebanon; or the bombing of the PanAm airplane that resulted in the death of 270 people.
nath - you’re talking sane - many give McCain a pass because of Vietnam - but sane and logic are certainly not his strong points - for whatever reason. As for Reagan/Bush - I’m sure the GOP are happy to give that one to BushSr - no way will anything be attributed to Saint Ronnie.
My knowledge of US history is limited - was Reagan the only president from California - seems to weird that they would have a GOP President when they are such a democratic state.
No, 99ts. Richard Nixon was also from California and he won the state twice. California has not always been a predominantly Democratic State. If I am not mistaken, I think George H.W. Bush, in 1988, won California. We have also had a number of Republican governors, the last one being Arnold the “Terminator.” Beginning with Ronald Reagan until to-day California elected four Republican governors and only two Democratic governors. The second Democratic governor, Gray Davis, was re-called in his second term. Gov. Jerry Brown is, of course, unique. He is now basically serving a third term.
Way O/T - But, before my eyes close way early for the night, thought I’d ask if anybody knows the name of the song in this commercial. Can’t get it out of my head.
Comments on Youtube say it’s not a full released song — just a jingle written for the commercial (Little by Little) - most likely created by ad agency called Nylon Studios, who also did this one…
Thanks so much for this, Dudette - Yes, I noticed the comments, but was hoping somebody would recognize the singers or just have a magical answer. I will now check out your link for magic (and no doubt won’t be able to get that jingle out of my head, today)!
There must also be the same kind pressure applied on the TBGOPer senators. The reason the right get away with murder….. euphemistically speaking is that they are always skipped when accountability is assigned.
That is why these TBGOPers continue to vote like Zombies taking marching orders.
Hello
Howdy and congrats Betsy!
Thank you. I am so glad PBO is home safely.
Me too. I was getting ready to post something else when new post popped up! :)
Love this picture.
See, Betsy, that spring break is already paying dividends! Good for you!
LOL. it sure is. :D
That’s an amazing picture! it totally captures the true essence of President Obama. Thanks to Chips for re-sharing it! Congrats on #1, Betsy.
Thanks Nath
Congrats on first, Betsy!
Merci, Theo.
Helloooooooooooo Betsy! Evening everyone. Or morning, or …. oh, just: hello!
Evening here in the South Bay, CA.
Congrats Betsy :)
Thanks Bobfr!
POTUS is in the White House…
Great News Carol.
;)
Glad to hear that. This was a worrisome trip although I know he is well protected.
You are not looking yourself tonight… Everything ok?
Carolmae, do you still have the instructions for creating twitpics that Lovely P gave you? I’ve decided it’s time for me to try again.
Yes, but it will take a few minutes. Do you want to hang around?
I can wait till tomorrow as I’m virtually falling asleep at the controls right now. TY
Ok, whenever. Remember, I’m MST, time now is 8:53pm here.

Yes We Can
Will do Bobfr.
YES WE CAN!
Thank you Gail!!!
^^^Yad Vashem^^^ wow, I knew I was exhausted but that typo in the first sentence proves it!!!
See all of you tomorrow. Must eat and sleep ….

Should I drop a midnight bomb ? Hmmmm (as hf would say)
Rats, I don’t think I’m going to last as late as I did last night. My eyes are already fighting to stay open.
Haven’t seen LL around. How is his missus doing post-op ?
Recovering gradually. They were going for a walk together to Ikea, last time I saw him.
ikea ? why ikea ?
I got the sense it wasn’t too far away and they could stroll their leisurely and take their time looking around….etc. etc.
From where they live, it’s freeway close and it has a lot of places to sit; i.e., beds, sofa’s, chairs, and a place to get a bite to eat.
“they could stroll their leisurely ”
A nice park didn’t come to the librarian’s mind ?
amk!
I am just giving some logic to your question “why ikea?” Maybe they went there to window shop/walk about.
/throwing hands in the air/ Whatyougivingmeahardtimefor? I didn’t ask LL all this, I was just happy to hear things were going well.

Yup, I haven’t seen him stumble in the international stage even once since 2006.
Or throw up, or trip, or faint - nothing!
Let’s not compare apples to rotten tomatoes. An apple is an apple. :)
And our Apple is top shelf :-)
AWESOME.
Roger that, UT!!!
Indeed, and ironically that seems to “worry” the media quite a bit. And I’m not just referring to FOX News and Redstate.
You are absolutely right, UT! And for those who were worried about his safety, I think he is much safer abroad than he is in the U.S. There so many vicious, and well armed, people in this country who passionately hate him. Thank God for the SS, which is vigilant in protecting him and his family.
Yup. Real terrorist nutsos are right inside US of A.
Yes Indeed, AMK! Many of them have been quite vocal about using terror and violence to save the country from President Obama.

Sorry for the rough day, Pamela. Sleep well!
g’nite mighty Pamela - hope all gets better quickly - and the daughter does more travelling

Did you hear that crazy Congressman Bachmann talking about Benghazi, as she lied her crazy ass off about how lavishly the Obamas are living.
Congresswoman Bachmann.
I am so giddy with excitement that POTUS is home and proud as hell that he carried the right message to the ME.
WHAT A MAN!
I love my President,,,yes I do!
Indeed I do - I’m so with you!
VL and HF, I know the President loves you both back!
Me too! :-)
Nice. Lovely.
:-)
I sense the pain and the weight of what he had seen on his face.
This president has a lean and thin physique. So for this photograph to capture that is truly incredible.
Hard job. Yes.
His temperament, soul, firm, kind, smarts and sense of self grounds him for this job.
Good night all. I’ll catch amk’s new thread in the morning.
Number one seeded Gonzaga just lost.
The hardly survived just days ago and now, Gone.
G’Town was the only College hoop that I paid attention to during the Ewing days.
I’ve been a fan for many years of college basketball. Not to fun of NBA since M. Jordon retired. I was a fan of POTUS’s team, the Chicago Bulls.
Looking at that picture of POTUS,it looks like a man who is seriously thinking. If it was G.W. Bush he would have some goofy look on his face.

Great profile.
Do we have photos of camels? ;)
Yes Carol, where is Canter, Boehner, McConnell, Cruz, McCain, Graham.
;)
Why am I still chatting on the last thread? 2 hours & 81 posts later - sigh
Must’ve been some good chattin’ over there. :-)
Sometimes I just chat to myself - I’m so late - everyone begins to wonder!
And now you have to move your … again.
And I am supposed to “like” your thread - it better be good
You better. :)
Karma….
Well all I can say to TeaNN, I mean CNN is it couldn’t happen to a nicer couple, Jake Tapper and CNN. May you keep going down hill.
heads up, new post.
