        Not true…..Per one analyst on MSNBC, the prosecutor took only 32 Minutes to present their opening statements, but that the Defense started off with a flat joke and was still going on.

    ICARUS gets burned!

    You really can’t make this stuff up. Snowden’s lawyer is now saying he left Hong Kong because he just “wants to live a simple life.”

    They’re just making stuff up now.

      WTF! How stupid is this guy. What? So it’s supposed to be: “My bad; I don’t want to play any more. I want to take my toys and go home”?
      I guess he and his handlers ( no way is was he alone in all of this) should have thought about their treasonous ploy a bit more.

    Diplomatic fallout over Snowden.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-23028821

    A whistle-blower protecting individual privacy and unmasking governmental hypocrisy, or traitor to his country?

    Whatever the verdict on Edward Snowden’s activities, his leaking of details of a vast US operation to access and monitor communications inevitably has serious diplomatic repercussions.

    And his flight from US jurisdiction - reportedly from Hong Kong to Moscow en route, possibly, to Ecuador - is throwing up problems for the Americans, and indeed his hosts, at virtually every stop.

    The timing of his disclosures - just as the US president was meeting his Chinese counterpart, with Chinese computer-hacking high on the agenda - was a gift horse for Beijing.

    At a stroke, the US was no longer able to portray China as a cyber-villain.

    ///

    China may have benefited from Mr Snowden’s revelations, but it seems that the Chinese authorities saw no advantage in Hong Kong giving sanctuary to the fugitive US intelligence contractor.

    ///

    Better to move Mr Snowden on.

    ///

    China may have benefited from Mr Snowden’s revelations, but it seems that the Chinese authorities saw no advantage in Hong Kong giving sanctuary to the fugitive US intelligence contractor.

    Much has been made of Hong Kong’s relative legal autonomy.

    But few China watchers believe that the Beijing authorities would not have made their preference clear. China, after all, retains responsibility for foreign policy - and the long-term presence of Mr Snowden, and a drawn-out legal wrangle with Washington, would have sullied a sometimes difficult but nonetheless important relationship for both countries.

    ///

    The Snowden affair clearly looks set to provide another irritant in relations between Washington and Moscow.

    Now Mr Snowden is heading… well we don’t know exactly where, though Ecuador has stated that he has applied for political asylum there.

    He may be transiting through Cuba, another ideological opponent of Washington.

    Some might say there is something paradoxical about the reported map of Mr Snowden’s flight.

    Having sought to expose what he regards as hypocrisy and malpractice in the behaviour of US intelligence services, he is now engaged in a tour of a series of countries whose records, human rights organisations say, leave a lot to be desired.

    It’s amazing to me that ”Mr. Transparency” Greenwald supports Citizens United. So from his balcony in Brazil, he wants National Security Operations to be in the open but has no problem whatsoever with floods of SECRET corporate donations during elections…..

    He’s such a fraud. No wonder he gets ”testy” when someone question his ”integrity”.

          BTW, I have to wonder if GG is working his ass off to get Snowden to Equador. If Snowden is returned to the US then GG might fear Snowden’s “singing” may implicate him.

          For you “journalists” who might be perusing: you may want to tighten up the definition of journalists before you start begging for a shield law. IF Greenwald engineered or was complicit in any way, does he deserve protection?

        See my tweet above with Chips’ link.

        Read the article and you’ll want to throw up. It’s obvious, in 2010, that GG was a raving Republican buying every Republican lie. Someone who ‘defers’ to Bush’s right to start an unnecessary war but is outraged that PBO, who actually sees the information on threats, would have the audacity to try to balance privacy and security.

      He is a fool and I think he is being played by everyone. I have found it interesting that the US didn’t seem to care where he was or where he is going. From not getting an interpol warrant, to wikieleaks putting out a daily itinerary, (as if he’s on vacation) and still, the government being one step behind him. In the meantime, he’s being passed around from one foreign intelligence agency to the next. He is way in over his head.

      • 54 sherijr

        I agree that he is in way over his head… as this is so serious. If he thinks the day won’t come that he’ll be caught - he really is a fool. Someone made him believe (or he is just that arrogant) that he would be protected/ safe from govt reprisal.

        The thing is I’m still waiting to hear what he ‘uncovered’ that is so ‘illegal’ by the NSA.
