Been trying to say “Hi” and Congrats using WordPress. I finally realized I can sign in with Twitter. I did send you a tweet (couldn’t remember Chip’s email address) to let you know WordPress is not working for me. I don’t know if anyone else is having the problem. Yesterday, it worked for a while, but today not at all. BTW, just disregard my tweet :)
WordPress has been horrible to me for about a week now. Sometimes it let’s me post, sometimes not. I have started the habit of copying all my comments before I try to post because there is no retrieving a lost comment once it’s gone. I am usually able to post on about my third attempt.
Yesterday bought a couple of toys at Lowe’s. Took the puppy for a ride to pick up dinner. Bought some car washing supplies. Had a couple of margaritas.
Today: Woke up. Had breakfast. Watched the Hungarian Grand Prix. Watched the Gold Cup final (USA! USA!). Bought provisions for dinner for the next two nights. Hung out on the front porch with the missus and the pup, which imbibing a wonderful Malbec.
If only every weekend could be so.
And so, for tonight’s menu:
Dry rubbed pork loin chops, pan seared and then roasted in the oven
A vegetable succotash of corn, zucchini, and red pepper
I was thinking that too, CEB! I swear there are so many times in this village when I hold my comment and wander down, only to find it was already shared.
Good evening everyone:) Congrats to you, LL…sounds like a lovely day! I did some laundry, changed my sheets, swam in the pool with my daughter, ate the dinner that was cooking in the crock pot all day. Now, relaxing here with all of you!
That’s in NW AZ…they are getting lots of rain up north…we had our big rains last weekend. Dry here now…but literally had a raging river with whitecaps on the street in front of my house last weekend!
Anyway, local news here says that those passengers are all ok.
A group of tourists on their way back from visiting Skywalk at the Grand Canyon had one heck of an adventure when the bus they were on got caught in a flash flood.
A spokesman for the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District said it happened just before 2 p.m. Sunday about 30 miles north of Kingman.
Patrick Moore said all 33 people on board made it to safety.
Okay, I’ve been off TOD for a couple of days, so I have lots of catc-hup to do. Can someone update me on what the heck Don Lemon did or said? They are tearing him a new one on Twitter.
This is one of the uses of twitter I don’t much like - when they flog to death an issue that could be dealt with with far less ‘fuss’ and vitriol. IMO there are other issues that could be flagged with better possible outcomes, that don’t get as much concentrated play as stuff like the Lemon commentary.
Utal, I followed your link, and the truth is, if i were a mother with a young child I’d be tempted to print it out and create a booklet as one of baby’s first books.
Been spending all weekend reading books and just doing absolutely nothing. Today my sister decided to come over and we watched movies for the majority of the afternoon/evening.
Just found out that the morning DJ I listened to on my morning drive in DFW dies right here in NOLA yesterday of an apparent brain aneurysm??
Damn: RIP Kidd Kraddick

The five things Don Lemon talk about, I agree. I don’t like to see these young boys with their pants hanging down showing their underwear and walking like they have something stuck in the butt, Stop the use of the “N” word, graduate high school, stop having babies out of wedlock, and littering. I didn’t agree with him about Bill O’Rielly though.
It is no just young black boys who wear their pants down…it is a young men’s thing…part of the hip hop culture…but the point being…is the Lemon has joined the radial right in piling on young black men…but coming from Lemon…are we surprise at his criticism
When education fully covers contraception and young people are taught something other than abstinence - maybe there will be less babies to young single parents - but the “out of wedlock” - by whose rules & for what standards. There have been a large % of children born “out of wedlock” since forever. Treating women badly because they were pregnant outside of marriage was the method used by the church to control women - the GOP follows much of the ways of the churches of past centuries. In times past it was difficult for women to survive without a male to support them - not so much today.
My daughter is a single parent - it is a path she chose - probably not one I would have chosen, but I was raised in different times and different circumstances. I respect her right to choose. It is also something that happens to people of all races - all colors - and is not restricted to US minorities.
I think I probably meant to reply to Anniebella - cause I agreed with everything you said :) Young folks do certain things - react i certain ways - and it has nothing to do with the color of their skin.
Would you believe this was written two years - 24 months - ago and the #GOP are still standing in the path trying to prevent any #FORWARD movement! The more things change, the more they remain the same.
Joe Klein (Time): Let us not put too fine a point on it: Thursday’s House vote on Speaker John Boehner’s debt ceiling proposal is a joke. If it passes the House, Harry Reid has said it is dead on arrival in the Senate. If it somehow passes the Senate, which it won’t, President Obama will veto it. It is, therefore, a symbolic act that is wasting precious time. It follows last week’s Republican theatrics, the passage of the Cut and Demolish Act (or whatever they called it), which also was a waste of time. These are the actions of a party that has completely lost track of reality – and of a leader, John Boehner, who has lost the support of his party.
…. This has been an exhausting process – one that might have resulted in an exhilarating triumph, if the Republican party were not led by nihilists like Rush Limbaugh and Grover Norquist.
It seem to me that John Boehner is just concern about being call Speaker. Because anyone else with any darn sense when history look back at them would want it to show that they accomplish something, something that made people lives better. When history look back at Boehner it will show what a joke he is, it will show that he was a sorry Speaker of the House. That he held onto the job just to say he was speaker. What a disgrace John Boehner is.
Annieb, there have been moments when I seriously believe that Boehner hasn’t a real clue what his job entails, other than he has a huge gavel (matters not how long he has been in Congress). In every sit-down interview I’ve seen him he looks unsure and bumbling. I’ve never seen him show confidence. The ‘poor’ man is out of his depths IMO.
((((((((((((((((((( Thanks to all of our precious families who also give so much and sacrifice so much ))))))))))))))))))))))))))) I pray for their safety and protection. I want them home as soon as possible, and I know deep within my heart President Barack Obama and VP, Joe Biden want the same.HZ
I hereby dedicate this haunting, lilting, mesmerizing song to all of you lovely Obama-supportin’ people, as we close out the weekend! I lift my glass to you and President Obama and Vice President Biden and their families, not to mention our Korean War veterans and all of our other brave military men and women and their families.
I see my girl Karen Briggs in her trademark red working that violin too. I’m so crushed I waited too late to try and get tix to see her and Kim Waters in Atlanta last night.
Truthfully, I only know her and remember her from Yanni - not that I’m a big Yanni fan, but my mother was and shared the concerts with me way back! I still have her VCR recordings with her illegible handwriting on the labels! She loved all kinds of music, and these concerts remind me of her. :)
Jacquelineoboomer and Dudette, I was going to ask for some music after seeing the little precious one putting her hand on the screen touching the space of her daddy as I was remembering all of our military men and women who are serving us now. When I got back, I saw these. So beautiful.
Love Ms. Briggs and Yanni. You all do realize that we have such a beautiful space here where so many times we are thinking the same thoughts. It is so beautiful in our space here. Give me music and beautiful poetry anytime. Thanks so much jacquelineO and Dudette.

(Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc shares hit a record on Friday after quarterly results increased optimism about the Internet retailer’s U.S. business.
The company reported a second-quarter net loss and weaker international growth on Thursday. However, its domestic business expanded quickly and profit in the region improved.
“Their biggest market looks really healthy,” said Matt Nemer, an analyst at Wells Fargo.
And this:
(Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc unveiled a new hiring spree on Monday ahead of a visit by President Barack Obama to one of the Internet retailer’s giant distribution warehouses this week.

Gas prices are $0:04 down…..wow. But Crude is nearly $108 plus. Hmm?
Consumer index is up. Jobs being created at 200K plus monthly, but the GDP is just at 1.5%? 10K baby boomers retire daily, many state jobs are not new firings, but retirees and yet the UE is at 7.6%?
I am not an Economist and somehow, there is a gap in the calculation.
Devi Shetty is obsessed with making heart surgery affordable for millions of Indians. On his office desk are photographs of two of his heroes: Mother Teresa and Mahatma Gandhi.
Shetty is not a public health official motivated by charity. He’s a heart surgeon turned businessman who has started a chain of 21 medical centers around India. By trimming costs with such measures as buying cheaper scrubs and spurning air-conditioning, he has cut the price of artery-clearing coronary bypass surgery to 95,000 rupees ($1,583), half of what it was 20 years ago, and wants to get the price down to $800 within a decade. The same procedure costs $106,385 at Ohio’s Cleveland Clinic, according to data from the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
“It shows that costs can be substantially contained,” said Srinath Reddy, president of the Geneva-based World Heart Federation, of Shetty’s approach. “It’s possible to deliver very high quality cardiac care at a relatively low cost.”
Medical experts like Reddy are watching closely, eager to see if Shetty’s driven cost-cutting can point the way for hospitals to boost revenue on a wider scale by making life-saving heart operations more accessible to potentially millions of people in India and other developing countries.
Such was how medicine was practiced in US and many other nations for years before Reagan and HMOs happened in USA. There were many Religious and State Hospitals and many people with mental problems were adequately treated. There were hardly any mass shootings. Now look where we are.
