I went to the movies with my best guy friend. We decided we didn’t want to see anything arty, so we settled on “Anchorman 2”. Now, yes, it was a very silly movie. But even this silly movie skewered the travesty which our media has become. It’s worth a view if only for that. When a Hollywood time-passer like “Anchorman 2” rips the veil from what the media has become, you know there’s something in the air.

Sortof a summary of Obamas in Hawaii. I’ve been wondering what the gaggle of reporters who are there—-gaggle?—gaggle of geese, gaggle of reporters?——have been doing there, certainly not reporting. News from there has been sketchy to nonexistent, other than for someone to stand in front of a palm tree for a couple seconds and say Obamacare might be in trouble. Then heads back to the beach and another round of pina coladas, I guess.

I’ll give them a pass on this one. If i was in Hawaii this time of year I seriously doubt I would doing much reporting either.
Yeah no, I wouldn’t. Just turned on the TV and the first thing I see is Jon Karl of ABC (He of the fabricated and disgusting lies filled Benghazi emails) telling Americans that despite 2M people visiting Healthcare.gov in one day, the website is a disaster. This is a blatant lie. He’s out there hanging out in sunny and beautiful Hawaii and thinks that lying means he’s doing his job.
I was pleasantly surprised when Lara Spencer pushed back and told him that the website is working well and she’s glad that 2M people can successfully get on and enroll for heath insurance. Then he was all, oh yeah, sure. Yeah, 2M is significant. What a douchebag.
I pretty much suspect it’s the same with the rest of them reporting from Hawaii. They’re having a fabulous vacation and instead of telling the truth for once in their miserable lives, they just can’t resist taking a poke at the First Family and telling lies about ObamaCare sign ups and the website. It’s appalling.
No surprise with Jon Karl. I’m still trying to figure out why he has a job. The others? December, fun in the sun, pretty girls. Yeah this time around they get a pass from me.
Not from me because what they’re all doing is disgusting. I don’t care if there are pretty girls around or fun in the sun, it’s not a joke. These are peoples lives and lying to them about the website, telling them it’s a disaster and discouraging sick and healthy people from going on to get the coverage that will save them and their families is almost criminally negligent.
Jon Karl and the rest of his gang have great healthcare from their employers and are having a great vacation in Hawaii as evidenced from their tweets and pictures. The least they can do is report the truth to millions of people who aren’t as privileged. A lot of us have health coverage and won’t suffer any adverse effects but there are millions out there who are listening to them and putting off logging onto Healthcare.gov. We read about them everyday. They listen to the media, become scared, put off getting the coverage before a navigator (if they’re lucky and their state hasn’t blocked navigators) gets to them and has to do the hard and thankless work of convincing them that the media is lying.
I suspect that’s in part why Lara Spencer pushed back at Jon Karl because she knows that like her, he has great coverage and shouldn’t be making up lies to fit his warped narrative.
I agree ut. Lying reporters should NEVER be given a pass!!!! This is like saying that malpracticing doctors should be “given a pass” because it’s Christmas/December or there’s a holiday around the corner. These reporters are on the job, and the SAME standards and ethics should apply.
What Jon Karl is doing is par for the course. No surprise on that one. He’s kidding himself because the volume healthcare.gov is handling proves him wrong as wrong could be. Even his own network colleague threw a red flag at him.
Not really sure about the others apart from the usual suspects I would guess. But wow oh wow. I close my eyes and feel that warm sun on me as I go between the sand and the water. (Sigh). I love winter but to be on a nice warm beach would be sweet right now. I guess I’m just in a giving tropical getaway mood. It will change by January but for right now I need a mai tai and a Don Ho cd. Tiny bubbles all of the time.

Good article in the NYT - I read it yesterday - folks say yes sir, no sir because they fear retaliation - that is truly sad - no politician should have that power - the comparison to Palin is accurate - she did the same in Alaska - and they still vote Republican in that outpost.

Ia. conservative nutjob fraudulently uses fed funds from Help America Vote Act to carry out his 18 month, $140,000 investigation of voter fraud—-which resulted in 5 cases—-and those 5 weren’t part of some big election conspiracy—-hahaha—- just inadvertent —-change of address, change of name etc. These people are nuts and desperate to keep the “wrong people” from voting.

Good morning all on the second day of Christmas. Unfortuantely, I don’t think the country got the christmas present it most desperately needs. So will work for the second best one.
Colbert perfect once again—-on the Duck Dynasty mess—-can’t believe that is one of the Obama’s fave shows, as was reported by Breitbart, as relayed by hopefruit last night. Hardly seems worthy, an understatement. “If you get a squirrel for your woman, she’ll never cut you off in bed.”
Interesting semi-discussion with my eldest son yesterday. I say semi because he was not in a listening mood.
As most of you know, he is career military with about 7 years to go before retuirement. As you also kno, if he leaves the service before then, either voluntarily or involuntarily, he loses all retirement benefits in terms of pension. This is true of most government workers, unless you are an elected politician.
Well, he has been concerned, due to loss of DoD funding if they will even keep him, as they are already starting to reduce numbers of military personnel. Well, the latest budget has really, to put it bluntly, pissed him off, as he figures to lose, over his life span, up to $120,000. And as far as he is concerned, all politicans are to blame, up to and including PBO.
As he said, Dems voted for it as well as GOPers and PBO could have, but didn;t veto it. The important part of why I am telling this story is that this is the way things get interpreted. I tried to point out to him that the GOP demanded this, but that didn’t make any difference. Also tried to point out that Dems in Senate introduced a bill to restore those specific cuts but GOP stopped it from going through. By that time, he wasn’t listening.
This was one of my concerns about the budget the way it went through. A lot of things the GOP wanted were included, but about the only thing the Dems got was no government shutdown (which is a meaningless thing in reality) and a little bit more money, though relatively little in terms of what was really needed. And my son, who is not an idiot and doesn’t watch Fox News, only hears about how it was a bipartisan budget deal.
The GOP gets all the winning points out of it and the Dems gain nothing. Sorry, I was against it when it was announced and am still against it. It has virtually guaranteed the Dems won’t win back the House.
Morning japa, I totally agree and emailed my Reps and Sens about it. I couldn’t figure out why they passed a budget that had mostly Pub wish list, including spending, but nothing really that compensated for it. They left the door wide open for Ryan to say that he got 80% of what he wanted, that the DOD cuts were bi-partisan with a wink, and to eventually say that this is a spending bill that PBO and Dems wanted and once again adding to the deficit.
There are many like your son. To me, they don’t care who’s to blame. It effects their bottom line, and that whole ‘both parties do it’ meme has permeated in the psyche. They don’t/won’t take the time to educate themselves, because by the time it hit folks personally, they ain’t hearing it.
Fact is, a lot of people have so many day to day concerns that they don’t have the time to really investigate beyond the headlines, which are rife with the both sides meme. Tribune yesterday had big article on the “Do-Nothing” Congress and blamed it on the ideological differences, in effect blaming both parties. Of course, Trib is conservative and doesn’t want people putting blame on GOP and most media is the same way.

It IS rather curious to me that the polls say that this congress is THE WORST EVER….with the majority of congress being Republicans…..and then hearing in the next breath that R’s have moved up in keeping the House. WTH? I don’t give much credence to polls now, but this amuses me…or it means that Americans aren’t connecting the dots. At all.
