You’re welcome, HF.
thankful for CNN, and now TOD, as I don’t think anyone covered this - caught just a few minute of Clinton on CNN, then flipped to CSPAN
retweeted this amazing gem!
Thanks Donna - this is a gem!
Oh good, get to congratulate you and thank you too!
ERBIL, Iraq—As the Islamic State fighters tore through northern Iraq in a murderous rampage, the women were called to come down from the mountains. One woman known as Ozlem, a longtime fighter with a Kurdish guerrilla group, was sent to defend Makhmour, a town where some 12,000 Kurds had taken refugee. Ozlem, whose nom de guerre means “to be missed,” eagerly left to confront the enemy — the radical Islamic group also known as ISIS or ISIL “We knew what they did in Sinjar,” Ozlem said, referring to the recent slaughter of civilians from the Yazidi minority sect, whose surviving members fled into a forbidding mountain range in northern Iraq before.
“We came to Makhmour with so much aggression against ISIS,” she said. For days, they heard how the Islamic State was advancing toward Makhmour, their black banner giving the fighters the appearance of a marauding army conjured up from a medieval past. Then, the fighters arrived. For the next 76 hours, Ozlem along with the rest of the Kurdish forces, battled the militants for control of the town, the women participating alongside the men in combat, as members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (or PKK) has always done. In firefights with bearded, black-clad men, she came close enough to notice they were fighting in sandals and seemed apparently unconcerned with death.
“In clashes with other enemies, soldiers defended themselves, because life was important to them,” Ozlem said. “You usually lay down and shoot from the ground or from behind something. They were standing up — exposed — and shooting.” Ozlem and other women who were part of the battle say they took special pleasure in fighting the notorious radicals whose barbarism, especially towards women, has left a scuttlebutt trail in every town they have taken. “They’re the enemy of women, but not only women,” Ozlem said. “They’re the enemy of the entire region and entire world.”…continued
Thanks, LP. Have read quite a bit about these female Kurdish warriors. Not to be messed with in any way ….
Anytime, Bob! I had heard stories in the past week as well…. it peaked my interest & found this really in depth reporting.
EXCELLENT…WE ARE NOT HERE TO SEE THROUGH EACH OTHER…BUT TO SEE EACH OTHER THROUGH…SERVING OTHERS SHOULD BE AT THE VERY CORE OF YOUR SOUL…WE ARE NOT HERE FOR THE MERE PURPOSE OF SELF CONSUMPTION…SOMETHING REPUBLICANS CERTAINLY NEED TO LEARN.
Some pretty amazing documents, seals, etc:
The archives, or Archivum Secretum Apostolicum Vaticanum, contain historical records chronicling intriguing historical events. Its contents, once plundered by Napoleon and moved to Paris, span 12 centuries.
A letter to Pope Clement VII pleading for the annulment of the marriage of King Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon is seen in the Vatican Secret Archives. The letter includes the wax seals of the members of the English House of Lords, clergy and other nobility who wrote and signed it. pic 1
Hopefully, Michelle Nunn will be replacing Chambliss. With a large turnout by women and minorities (AAs), she will.
Donna…I am quite sure that it was the same group of GOP Senators who voted against the Health Insurance bill for the 9/11 First Responders….that would make a great tweet as well…
I saw that article that Senator Franken called Citizens United “money laundering”. Spot on Mr. Franken. Citizen’s United does nothing but hurt this country.
Just saw that africa - was there EVER a doubt that it would end this way. And people still vote for him - he wrote this screed on his official facebook page - the GOP gets them all!
When democrats act like Palin & Sanford the media is in outrage - when its from GOPERs the media says it shows character - or something.
Woo hoo - Happy TGIF and thanks for another great post! AmeriCorps has done untold good here and changed the lives of volunteers and those they serve.
Bubba wants to be back in the White House in any way that he can and that smiling smirk that he has is as unattractive as ever. How much he must hate that PBO is the man of the hour and well may be the man of the 21st century. Clinton had his chance and he squandered the goodwill and the hopes of many Democrats; his lasting legacy is one of deep disappointment. In him we have seen dross and truly learned that all that glitters is not gold. The real gold, that which is hammered and shaped by adversity, but still beautifully shines through it all, the gold that ever holds its value is personified in President Barack Hussein Obama.
Very insightful comment CEB!
I was glad to see him there and glad that he started this program.
Right on CEB.
Excellent comment, CEB, and I totally agree.

Omg! Adrian Petersen Vikings all pro RB will not play this Sunday , as he has been indicted in child endangerment charges.
Apparently, he used a switch blade.
A switch blade?
Really?
Haven’t found Sway’s interview yet http://swaysuniverse.com/
That tyler Oakley interview was hideously cute! They both really connected and had fun with it. YAY FLOTUS!
I agree meta. Look like they had fun.
Very funny and seriously cute.
The details of the Adrian Peterson child abuse indictment—-involving his 4 yr. old child!—-are beyond sickening——and sick, sick, sick—-that $14 million/yr. athlete has some serious issues. Revolting by any/every measure. And criminal, in my estimation.
http://houston.cbslocal.com/2014/09/12/exclusive-details-on-adrian-peterson-indictment-charges/
Disgusting!
now, add this to signals that people are loosing it;
This might be somewhat controversial but….
I make no justification for the punishment that Adrian Peterson afflicted on his child but I can tell you that growing up there was no such thing as “time out”. In my culture when you misbehaved there was corporal punishment. I can recall being sent outside to get the switch that I was spanked with. Now I was not tortured like it seems this child was but I was spanked none the less.
I can tell you that I don’t know of a child that I grew up with either in my family or in the neighborhood that at some point in time was not spanked. Young people today have to be educated about the harm that can be done by taking this aggressive action. As crazy as it my sound, you can tell by the tone of his tweets to the child’s mother that he thinks what he is doing it the right thing to discipline the child. It’s probably how he was disciplined as as child. The indictment will be a wake up call for him but I hope he also gets some counseling on parenting and disciplining a child in the 21st century.
I know Donna, we all got a spanking in our time, but this was way beyond, this bastard needs to be locked up:
“The beating allegedly resulted in numerous injuries to the child, including cuts and bruises to the child’s back, buttocks, ankles, legs and scrotum, along with defensive wounds to the child’s hands. Peterson then texted the boy’s mother, saying that one wound in particular would make her “mad at me about his leg. I got kinda good wit the tail end of the switch.”
I don’t disagree with that Chips.
That family cycle of corporal punishment—violence—-can be and must be stopped. Hopefully today’s parents are more knowledgeable about the severe harm that type of abusive physical discipline does to their children. There is nothing more damaging. It’s why we have so many troubled souls among us, acting out in violent ways. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior—none—-no “that’s the way I was raised”. There is no good reason to continue this kind of demented form of discipline into another generation. It’s the cause of a multitude of sins, saddling their kids with lifelong serious issues, including alcohol and drug abuse, obesity, the whole array of mental health issues, anger management issues, criminal behavior etc. etc. etc. And personally, I can’t imagine ever thinking that causing my child pain was ever the answer to anything. It’s beyond my comprehension.
Could not agree with you more, dotster.
Dotster your response clarifies my point. It’s beyond your comprehension because you were probably culturally conditioned not to discipline this way. I’m willing to wager that all those things that you listed as being emotionally, psychologically and physically damaging he doesn’t have a clue about.
Again, he should pay a price for this criminal act but he also needs to be educated on how to be a better parent and what he should and shouldn’t do when disciplining his children. To you this seems far-fetched because you think he should already know this. I’m saying that from reading his text messages IMO he doesn’t.
Never once did my parents lay a hand on me. Their disappointment was enough punishment.
I agree with you donna. Spanking was a staple of discipline back in the day - but in this day and age, people should have a lot more information, and anyone who goes into the business of child rearing should make it his or her business to get educated about child development, and get the necessary counseling if they are struggling with issues stemming from their their own childhood.
Having said that, I believe that any form of discipline when badly used can be harmful to a child - including “time outs.” Some of the current crop of mass shooters for example were probably not spanked growing up, but they were likely poorly or inconsistently disciplined, probably neglected, emotionally abused, etc.
I was sent out to get my own switch too, DonnaDem
I have a friend born in 1950 and he likes to tell the same story. As the only boy with two older sisters it sounds like he was always in trouble. His sister tells the story of him about the age of three or four and his mom tells him to go out and get a switch off a hedge or bush and the sister says he just kept walking….past the bush.
RANT ALERT:
I don’t know if anyone recalled that I had posted a comment on TOD some weeks ago - perhaps a day or two (or more) after the James Foley execution. I had posted a comment to the effect that I was having some very unsettling feelings about the situation. Apart from the almost exaggerated (and I would argue, politically-motivated) MSM coverage the case received, I was a bit put off by the statement released by Foley’s mother, which seemed to be passive-aggressively accusing the Obama administration of being responsible for Foley’s death.
Fast forward to this week, today to be precise, and my unsettling feelings were not unjustified. ABC news AGAIN ran a segment in their evening World News on the same issue that was posted today earlier by 57female, in which the parents accused the Obama administration of (1) “threatening” the Foleys with prosecution if they tried to raise ransom money to release their son, and (2) refusing to follow-up/respond when they got word of Foley’s location in April. ABC News failed to inform viewers of the longstanding US government law/policy of no ransom payments to terrorists. These rules are known to the journalists who take these positions - they are not new, and as government rules go, exceptions aren’t made arbitrarily.
As much as I am sympathetic towards the Foley’s for the tragic loss of their son, my sympathy is not unlimited. And if they’re going to join forces with the GOP-controlled media to create anti-government sentiment and in particular - erode support for our President, making him seem like a heartless bully, I will not be a part of that. There were ~ 8 beheadings of US Journalists during GWB’s presidency, yet no MSM outlet brought grieving families out to hurl unfounded accusations about GWB’s policies causing their deaths. This is just very disgusting and ABC News should not be allowed to exploit grieving families in their bullshit agenda. If they want to point fingers, they can start with Edward Snowden, and his cadre of US Libertarian cultists in the TV and Internet media, whose “revelations” have empowered these terrorist organisations and allowed to them to circumvent US Intelligence to a certain degree.
The media have been carrying water for the GOP for the past 6 years hf - and STILL BHO was elected twice. The never ending barrage of negative lies is going to impact some people and there is no way around that other than what those who support the President are doing - calling out the lies.
In regard to paying ransoms - As far as I can remember the “no ransom payment” dates back to the days of airlines being hijacked - when there was no money to be made - the hyjacks stopped. The families of those kidnapped know it won’t work - they just want someone to blame - and in this case ABC is using its hate for the President and the democrats to help them blame PBO.
I agree with your rant - and sane/logical people agree with your rant - sadly there are too many who use someone’s misery for political mileage.
What no comments about Adrian Petersen?
These are rough times and if you are going to discipline your kid, might as well do it with a knife?
What’s next a M-4Carbine?

Just got an email that was livid at the BETRAYAL of PBO on immigration. This is part of the email…and by the way, not one single solitary mention of Republicans and their obstruction. Not one mention….
There’s no other way to say it. What the President did — in complete denial of the consequences of playing games with immigrant families — was political cynicism at its worst.
Back in June, President Obama told us — told the world — that he would use the power of his office to stop as many deportations as he could by the end of the summer. Then, last Saturday morning, when he thought no one would be watching, he went back on his word, saying that he would delay any announcement until after the midterm elections.1,2,3
Democratic political operatives hope that delaying executive action will help the party keep control of the U.S. Senate. But the public already knows that President Obama plans to act unilaterally — whether or not he acts should have little consequence.
More than 1,000 deportations per day were recorded last year alone.4 With each passing day, even more families are torn apart in traumatic home raids by ICE. Children have had to witness their parents being handcuffed in front of them in the middle of the night, and are sometimes even put in detention centers, alone, when they have no other family to care for them in the U.S.5
And the truth is that the longer the President waits to take action, the less likely it is that he will take action at all. He’s already delayed making a decision several times and there are no guarantees that he will not delay again in response to some other political game that might pop up in the future. We need to put President Obama and both political parties on notice that delaying executive action to stop deportations is NOT acceptable. We should not be treating human beings like political pawns!
Will you call the White House comment line to let President Obama know how you feel about bowing to political games instead of stopping deportations?
Ooh!Ooh! - the pics of PBO! Eeww! Eeww! - the pics of that geezerguy marring the view!!😉 LOL!

“The Agreement will be ratified in the form it has been signed,” Petro Poroshenko noted adding that he would submit the document for ratification by the Verkhovna Rada on Monday, September 15.”

Thanks for this Post NW. It is fantastic.
Au⭐ for Lady Chips. Congrats.
Good story with a happy ending:
Wow….Great! I wonder what took so long for those in the picture to finally respond.
Great News.
ABC News got involved too.
The Vikings RB had a son born out of wedlock killed by the mother’s abusive boyfriend just 2-3 yrs ago in ND or SD. The saddest part was that he never met the child. Had just found about the son. He was paying child support. And now this is what he is indicted of …..abusive behavior towards his son? Shameful.
I feel that there are so many issues diverting our attention from the fact that we have less than a month to register voters if they are to be eligible for participation in this crucial November vote;
like I have said here before, in the majority of states, there is no same-day-registration;
hence it does not matter how much you commit to GOTV or how badly you may want to vote on that day, if you did not register before the deadline;
sorry but in my Ultimate Swing state (which PBO carried twice and with a governor’s race) - with a higher probability of flipping some house seats which were won by very slim margins - the drive to register voters is very mediocre ;
I do my part to register voters but I find that many people choose to complain rather than volunteer;
Agree with you wholeheartedly. The distractions are just what the rethugs/msm want and the American public is happy to oblige.
Mark Sanford, his ex-wife just last week was filing something and stating that the ex-husband is in definite need of a psychological help. Now he writes over 24 page THESIS on the ex-wife and had ditched the Latina Lover?
Wow. I feel for those 4 sons. The baggage these kids must carry and if and when they get married…..wow…I pity their spouses.
I hope and also believe that their only sane parent, their mother, will be a good example to these young men. Sometimes when the parent of the same sex who shows poor judgment, the kids grow up to be better than that parent and not make the same mistakes. My father abandoned his family and was abusive. My brother is a good husband and father thanks to their shared believe in God. The rest of us played it safe and did not get married or have children in fear we would be similar partners and parents. My pets are well behaved though.

Police are still investigating the incident.
The Dick Cheney said this on a number of occasions.
The Dick started his criticism of pres Obama on Jan 29th, 2009……and it had gone on to this day.
The Media Loves to snip out a sentence here and there OUT of Context made by President Obama to attack him……Yet these same Media pundits Refuse to do the same with McCain, Cheney or any other GOPer.
Except it was No “mistake” bush-cheney invaded Iraq. It was based on deliberate LIES.
thanks, Nena.
And on This Note😉
Good Evening TODers.
Knock on wood, until Tomorrow…….God willing.
