A Leader Who Cares About Climate Change? That’s President Obama

Coral Davenport: U.S. Moves To Reduce Global Warming Emissions

The Obama administration on Tuesday announced a series of moves aimed at cutting emissions of hydrofluorocarbons, or HFCs, powerful greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change. The White House has secured voluntary agreements from some of the nation’s largest companies to scale down or phase out their use of HFCs, which are factory-made gases used in air conditioning and refrigeration. Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Red Bull, Kroger, Honeywell and DuPont, the company that invented fluorinated refrigerants, have agreed to cut their use and replace them with climate-friendly alternatives.

Over all, the administration estimated that the agreements announced on Tuesday would reduce cumulative global consumption of HFCs by the equivalent of 700 million metric tons of carbon dioxide through 2025. That is about 1.5 percent of the world’s 2010 greenhouse gas emissions, or the same as taking 15 million cars off the road for 10 years. “Every drumbeat in this symphony helps. It drives it along. This is part of that drumbeat,” said Durwood Zaelke, president of the Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, a research organization. “The benefits from cutting non-CO2 come much faster,” he added. “CO2 is like a supertanker – you can stop it, but it keeps drifting for a long time. Cutting HFCs are like stopping a steamboat. You stop it and that’s that.”

      Not after #LandslideDems2014!

PBO and FLOTUS will leave DC in a blaze of triumph.

And both will continue to make a positive difference in the underserved and overlooked in America and abroad.

Dreading that day, to be sure, but excited about the possibilities for real progress for Americans, and multi-national cooperation between people who have been engaged animosities of epic proportions and duration in so many parts of the world.

This young person has never had to heat up canned ‘stuff’ or microwave veggies, so I strongly doubt he`d know how to open a can of soup, assuming there is a can opener in his new abode. I do know there is a microwave ‘in the house’, but I cannot remember if I saw a stove. At the time I was so relieved to find a room in a clean house that other than checking the bathroom I didn’t really register much else. Anyhoo, when he gets a break to come home at the end of October (Reading Week), we’ll work together to minimize the prospect of fast food saturation &/ utter starvation. Don’t worry- no sense both of us worrying - he’ll make it through, hopefully without getting ill.

A bit wary of him Hopefruit, he seems to use every opportunity in this to have a go at PBO or AG Holder, eg

Good catch Chips - wasn’t even aware of this…And thankfully, he seemed to have gotten some appropriate pushback (I’m just posting one of the many examples).

Shaun needs to understand that PBO/Holder’s responsibilities in this case are very different from that of an online blogger & activist such as himself. They are bound by legal constraints that he does not have to think about. And it is foolish to interpret Holder/PBO’s personal thoughts/feelings in that regard.

        • September 18, 2025 at 12:41 pm

Just read his timeline Hopefruit and although I do genuinely question his motives, and his utter stupidity in attacking PBO and the AG on this, his investigative work is just brilliant. It’s incredible that he is the first, as far as I know, to show that Michael Brown was 100 feet away, not 35, from Wilson when the shooting happened. In other words, he has proved murder.

            September 18, 2025 at 12:56 pm

My sentiments exactly Chips - this is a very significant revelation.

I suspect the FBI’s investigation is probably finding similar things - but like any government agency, their stuff takes time…

The torches and pitchforks would be out if we some honesty in reporting.

I swear, CBS network radio news injects a “blame Obama” item in their national reports almost every hour, even when it’s clear Congress could use a little scrutiny. But Congress gets a free pass.

It infuriates me because many busy Americans get their news from quick listens to the radio and quick visits to news websites for headline news. And they don’t realize how much is being hidden from them, and twisted to shield the GOP Congress from them by the MSM.

This is in regards to the tweets about MTP falling back into 3rd place in ratings and how Chucky Toad couldn’t even hold viewers once PBO wasn’t on the show.

If anybody questions whether or not Politico is the go to place of RWNJ’s all you have to do is read the comments to the article that talked about the ratings fall. To spare you having to drag through too much sewer garbage, I’ll just reprint a couple:

The public refuses to watch these liberal HATEFUL attack shows. The liberal media networks have become a loudspeaker for the corrupt and hateful White House.

The public has wised up and knows they are being misled and manipulated by the liberal liars, deception brokers and frauds.

Was NBC expecting different results when they replaced a liberal cheerleader with a liberal cheerleader?

What is the definition of insanity again?

Sunday morning talk shows are mouthpieces for the White House, nothing more. Liberal media has never worked and it still doesn’t. When White House has a problem, they send out their “liar” for all four Sunday shows. How boring is that.

Once folks saw Todd’s lips affixed to Obama’s butt they knew some things never change at NBC…

Thios shows, more than anything else, just how pernicious the lie about liberal media is, when Todd can be called a butt-kisser to PBO and all the other nonsense. I really wonder what it must be like to live in some of these people’s heads, but the prospect is so terrifying, I don’t ever want to really find out. And, btw, only about two people challenged the concept that Todd is a liberal cheerleader.

Our district is true middle America: all colors and creeds, lower class, middle class and some upper middle class. We all live in, work in, and love our city.

Gutierrez did NOTHING to sign up his own constituents for ACA. We have plenty Hispanics in this district - could he bother to give a damn about the people who actually vote for him?

She has a ways to go to win me over (of course I’ll vote for any Democratic nominee), but it’s nice to be able to say I trust her authenticity and commitment to women. Investigators backed away Wednesday from allegations a Democratic-backed group may have organized voter registration fraud, saying they can confirm 25 applications of more than 85,000 submitted to the Georgia Secretary of State’s office.

Chief investigator Chris Harvey, however, said the office needed more information from the New Georgia Project to confirm no more fraudulent forms existed — already, it has identified another 26 applications as suspicious. The state has extended a deadline for the group to get investigations such information through Sept. 26.

    • 83 Linda

All voter registration forms have to be tuned in by law….regardless whether they have obvious errors on them.

      • 85 swbluega
        September 18, 2025 at 1:13 pm

That’s what New Georgia Project was saying. It wasn’t that they were trying to hide anything. Any fraud that was found was because *they* obeyed the law and *they* turned in the forms that would have led to the discovery. And of course, when you are processing large volumes of forms, there is bound to be an error here or there.

But as noted in the article below, there are a number of voter applications that the SoS office has not processed. So I guess this processing “slow down” is yet another way they are suppressing the vote.

With the state’s Oct. 6 registration deadline quickly approaching, state House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams, D-Atlanta,and more than a dozen civil rights and religious leaders who support the New Georgia Project called on Kemp —the state’s top elections official — to focus on ensuring ballot access to thousands of new voters they and others have signed up this election year.

Speaking at the state Capitol ahead of the 3 p.m. special meeting of the Georgia Election Board, the leaders stood before 13 plastic bins filled with copies of applications they said have not been processed despite being turned in, in some cases, months ago.

“You don’t have to wear a hood or be a member of the Ku Klux Klan to be engaged in voter suppression,” said the Rev. Raphael Warnock, the pastor of the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. “Mr. Secretary of State, stop this dog and pony show, all these accusations and fear campaigning, and do the job you were [elected] to do.”

Apple iPhone and iPad users have taken to social media to express their frustration over installing the company’s latest software update.

Many have resorted to deleting photos, videos and other files in order to free up space for the new version of Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS8, which requires up to 5.8GB of storage.

Apple has also removed apps for its new health software because of a bug.

One expert said Apple’s updates were often prone to “teething problems”.

Some vexed Apple users took to Twitter to express their annoyance, at one point causing the subject to be trending above the Scottish referendum.
