    From now until the polls close on 4 Nov, the bottom line for ANY person claiming they want a just US immigration system, the message is simple …

    That less than 50% of eligible US Hispanic heritage citizens DID NOT VOTE in the 2012 election is precisely the weakness the Koch Bro and their fellow kleptocrats exploit. Same for AA, for women, for young voters, for veterans, for all the people who are oppressed because they don’t VOTE.

    It is not hyperbole that a failure to elect as many Dems as possible, at every level of government, on 4 Nov may well mean we will witness even more unrelenting destruction of whatever is in their path, so that the kleptocrats can finally pillage America in a way that would make Putin, Xi Jinping, etc., jealous.

    Because, I assure you, if GOP keeps the House and gains a majority in the Senate they will impeach and prosecute President Obama.

    If anyone reading this blog comment doubts that fact, they have not been paying attention to the extensively documented, raw, unrestrained hatred of our President.

    #OWNthe114th …. the lives of countless millions - and yours - depends on it.

        Unfortunately, this is one thing we can’t blame on our do-nothing Congress.

        If this article is to be believed, Julia Pierson’s priority wasn’t to change the system (she was Mark Sullivan’s chief of staff during the GWB Adm, and then Assistant Director of the agency).

          Have no idea whether anything coming from WaPo is to be believed, Arapaho. All I know is that multiple reports have indicated that the staffing of USSS at the White House was way below what had been requested by USSS.

            October 2, 2025 at 10:59 pm

            Yes, I’ve learned from TOD to be skeptical of MSM reporting (most recent example: @nytimes and @PeterBakerNYT skewing the WaPo report by headlining “Obamas ‘angry’ [at shots being fired while the First Family was in their residence] — in keeping with the “angry Black lady” theme).

            Here’s more from the tweeted WaPo article:
            “Under her watch, the agency continued to suffer from systemic problems that went well beyond the embarrassment of the prostitution scandal. For instance, staffing shortages have grown so severe that the agency has had to fly in field agents from across the country for two-week temporary details, paying their travel, hotel and per-diem costs.”

              Yes, Arapaho, that’s the kind of FAIL that is totally inexcusable and totally the FAULT OF @GOP House & Senate.

        That even only 99% register and even 1% of those registered don’t vote, is precisely why the 99% have ZERO reason to complain when the 1% keeps screwing them.

        People shouldn’t just register to vote, they should actively seek ways to help each other get to the polls and vote.

        America would be the most amazing place if Americans just took care of each other, starting with an unshakable commitment to be sure that each eligible voter, VOTED.

      I’m not the least bit surprised. We have a Sheriff…you know the one….and he’s got LOTS AND LOTS of military equipment that he uses to raid car washes and landscaping business’ with…sometimes he takes lunatic and fellow batshit crazy, Steven Segal with him….because we have to keep people scared and fearful of those “others” and those “brown people”. Swear that man needs to retire,or keel over…whichever comes first. I’m not kidding.

    What an amazing person PBO is! How anyone could give two such outstanding speeches in one day is way beyond my understanding! He does this all the time…….we are spoiled. No one will be able to equal this ability.

    Both speeches strong, clear, informative, and focused. I am just so glad I lived long enough, and strong enough to enjoy and appreciate the Age of Obama.

      That’s why so many people are furious at Chris Matthews — haven’t watched his show for 6 months or so — for calling PBO “lazy.”

      PBO is the hardest working President in my lifetime.

      PBO is living proof that you’ve got to better than everyone else to be recognized on your own merits as a Black person in America.

      And for being head-and-shoulders above the rest, he gets called “lazy” by a so-called “supporter.”

      Gah.

      P.S. - I commented on the previous thread how PBO’s delivery of the CHCI speech reminded me so much of his 2004 DNC Keynote Address for John Kerry — he was a bit fiercer, but he looked the same to me (except for the baby-blue tie, LOL).

        Don’t mean to offend anyone by posting this tweet, but I was moved by this photo.

        Seems like the media are treating Poroshenko as the Neville Chamberlain of Ukraine.

        • 51 Bobfr (@Our4thEstate)
          October 2, 2025 at 11:31 pm

          He is definitely not the “Nevile Chamberlin of Ukraine,” Arapaho. But, he and everyone else is going to have to suck it up and realize that Putin will not stop until he is crushed in Donbass and driven out of Crimea.

          Unfortunate reality, given how many will die and the potential of a nuclear catastrophe, but it is what it is.

    Fox News is really stirring up major news outlets on this ebola in Texas.
    Asking why didn’t the president quarantine all US airports and how could he and the US government allow this to happen?
    And do you know what? Msnbc follows suit.

    I wish I was creative enough to craft a message that could go viral with a content focus of urging people to register to vote in the remaining hours before the deadlines on Tuesday - kind like the monetary donations (“money bombs”) ;

    if people were argued to register to vote as a sign of support for socio-economic justice, could this help?

    the past few weeks, I have been wondering how and if Dr. Rev. MLK’s challenge to religious leaders who were ignoring the fight for civil rights could be made to apply here. Could this quote be used to shame those self-proclaimed religious people and their leaders who look away as Medicaid Expansion is hindered, many rights are taken away, and the social safety-net is being dismantled by the gop/SCOTUS etc;

    The quote by Rev Dr. MLK I am referring to is : “In the end, we will remember, not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends”;

    to me sitting out the chance to vote is the equivalent of “electoral silence” of those who claim to be advocates/friends of the poor and marginalized groups

    Good morning,
    It’s a beautiful morning!
    Have a great weekend everyone.
    What a week!

    After all the hard work our President is doing to make this a better world……yes, I said “world”. Why would anyone not vote?
    I have no patience at all with those who are: Still complaining. Making excuses. Finding fault. Arguing over BS. Arguing with themselves.
    I choose HOPE. I am STAYNG FOCUS. I am GRATEFUL for being alive to experience this remarkable President.
    I will continue to WATCH and PRAY and I will VOTE!
