This morning after reading the horrific news of the NC murders, I mentioned how I will feel difficulty facing my two Muslim students tomorrow. So, I decided to do something positive, which I would have done anyway, but felt especially important now. A little thing, but…..Khalid’s wife had a baby boy Monday night so he wasn’t in class Tuesday. I don’t know if he’ll be back by tomorrow, but I bought a congratulatory card today for him and his wife for all the class to sign, and a small gift from us. I feel so helpless…….but our minister keeps reminding us, act where you are….find something positive to do.

So, for some reason, I was followed by the leader of the 2nd biggest pro-independence Catalan party. I’m not sure how to feel about this.

Tiger Woods says his golf is “unacceptable for tournament play” and it is unclear when he will return.

Woods withdrew injured from last week’s event at Torrey Pines after just 12 holes, having missed the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open the week before.

He said: “I need a lot of work on my game, and to spend time with people that are important to me.

“I’d like to play in the Honda Classic (from 26 February) but I won’t be there unless my game is tournament ready.”

Sophiatown, in the suburbs of Johannesburg, was once known for its bohemian lifestyle and vibrant music scene. But 60 years ago, the South African government decided to clear the multi-racial neighbourhood to turn it into a whites-only area.

    ….

By 1962, Sophiatown had been flattened and rebuilt as a whites-only area called Triomf. The only reminder of what had once been, was when the new residents sometimes found cutlery and pots buried in their gardens. Contractors simply built over the rubble of the demolished homes.

the moment beebs finally decides that NC murders are news worthy.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Karen Hicks said she was “shocked” by the attack but said her husband Craig, 46, had parking disputes with many neighbours, of all religions.

Her lawyer said the shooting had “nothing to do with the victims’ religious beliefs but had everything to do with a mundane parking spot dispute”.

The lack of access to mental health care was the real issue, he said, not terror.

Thank you, Chips. These are heartbreaking, beautiful, emotional tweets. So many tragedies, so many lives destroyed because people with guns can’t control their impulse to destroy. How many lives have to be lost before people finally wake up?
