I almost threw up, Chips. The Ferguson PD laughed while their dog attacked a 14 year old Black child. A child for crying out loud. Jesus Christ!!!! They don’t see our bodies. They don’t see our humanity. They don’t see that we have value and worth.

This is the violence that is happening to Black bodies around the country. This is not just happening in Ferguson. The Ferguson PD is the LAPD, the NYPD, the Cleveland PD, etc. Whether one lives in a red or blue state, this is pretty much police departments around the country. This is why Black people shake in fear whenever we encounter cops. This is why Black people say whenever we encounter cops, there is more than a possibility that we will not return safely home, but will end up dead at the hands of cops.

Black people are under assault and under siege by the people sworn to serve and protect them. It is appalling.

Nerdy, I need to find the comment from a while back you posted about your own experience with cops and the advice you were given if you were confronted by them, it’s all I could think of when I read this stuff. With the Selma anniversary approaching, sometimes I wonder has anything ****ing changed?

The great Soul that is Michael Brown gave his life to bring this blow to the darkness, to the hatred, to the evil. On a Soul level, he must have known his youth, his innocence and his gentle heart would lend the impact needed to slap people awake. Go with God, Mr. Michael Brown ~ you have given your all to move humanity foreward. Thank you. Bless you. <3

If makes me so mad and sad that the good AA people of Ferguson were subjected to this horrible nightmare treatment. I would have packed up my bags and left before giving them my money in taxes to pay their salaries. There must have been some officer’s that felt this was unfair treatment but did nothing. I’ve had people tell me, “well they should do whatever the police say”. I tell them I wish they could be AA for one day to see how these people are treated and tell me that. If the police treated them that way I can just hear the complaints of how the government is so corrupt.

I hope the AG’s speech ends with removal of that entire police department, replaced with federal marshals, as a start. I don’t know how it’s done, but I cannot see one more day that anyone in that entire law enforcement chain (and the other city and court officials who’ve been cited) should remain in place.

Sick to my stomach that human beings continue to treat other human beings - moms and dads and children and grandparents, some only guilty of parking illegally or their “manner of walking down a roadway” - in these horrific ways, for years, and get away with it. I hope there are individual charges brought against the police bosses and anybody else who deserves them.

My heart is screaming as I read this. I know there are some backward, ignorant and cruel people on this Earth, but I had no idea they live at this level of stupidity, willing to harm others at any and all cost. I can apologize, but it will not heal the ongoing wounds inflicted on people who do not deserve such contempt. I am so sorry, so sorry.

THANK-YOU Nerdy - I have very little else to add except to say that the info contained in these tweets speaks for itself and is an empirical and indisputable validation of what all AA’s in this country have been talking about for decades and centuries. I hope that that the DOJ continues to expose more of this systematic racial persecution from so-called law enforcement and judiciary officials - because we know it exists in many other local and state districts and jurisdictions outside of Ferguson MO.

Thanks again Nerdy for a job well-done!!!

Nerdy, I don’t know how far the power of the Justice Department extends here, but every member of the Ferguson PD has to go-those who deliberately and systematically violated the civil rights of African Americans and those who sat on the sidelines and condoned it. The purge has to be complete from the top down and every new hire has to be subjected to the most rigorous testing and intensive training. Then the process has to move on, city by city, town by town across the country until the cancer is exposed and excised. We can’t call ourselves a free country, a democracy, exceptional or great in any way while this horror continues in our towns and cities. It’s time for everyone-not just the Justice Department-to demand change.
By the way, anyone who doesn’t feel like throwing up after reading this should take a long look at themselves in the mirror and try to figure out what went wrong with their character.

AG Holder has lived with the evidence he presented today for many months. His staff has been thorough and he’s probably been sickened by it all. I can understand why he may be soul sick at this point and want very much to hand over the reins to Loretta Lynch should she ever be confirmed. But, personally, I’m glad he was the one to complete and deliver this report.

      • 68 No Child Left Behind
        March 4, 2025 at 3:47 pm

Secretly praying for a deal, even if this is the reason we get one. I was also thinking that POTUS himself can use Bibi’s ADD to put additional pressure on Iran. There are many ways Bibi’s impatience and foolishness might help. One will be surprised!

I’m wondering the same. I don’t think they’ll rush but I do think they are likely more motivated than ever.

SOS Kerry is not expected to meet again until the 15th, which is dangerously close to the deadline. I hope that means substantive progress.

        • 70 jacquelineoboomer
          March 4, 2025 at 3:57 pm

Fingers crossed! The main goal is getting the deal, under President Obama’s leadership. The minor goal (in my head) is proving the irresponsibility of Bibi’s words to Congress, against what really would keep Israel more secure.

      • 73 Nancie McDermott
        March 4, 2025 at 3:53 pm

Yes! I am praying for this, jaquelineoboomer, that the malicious, gloating, hypocritical and evil actions taken by him and all the dishonest supporters of it, could in fact be cause for an opening of opportunity for the good honest brokers involved in this; that Iran sees and responds to this attempt to inflame and manipulate the situation in a way that benefits the process and therefore the world.

I’m praying for that as well Nancie. A good deal that the President endorses is exactly the antidote to the Bibi/Boehner poison that has polluted the atmosphere in DC for too long.

      • 76 No Child Left Behind
        March 4, 2025 at 4:14 pm

My earlier comment to you, Jackie O, has disappeared!!!

I also thought that Iran might use Bibi’s ADD to get a compromise with the US, thus showing the world among the three (USA, Iran, and Bibi) who is the illogical party. My thought also went around how POTUS might use Bibi’s theatrics to pressure Iran on a compromise. Either way, the winners here would not include Bibi if/when there is a deal. And the peoples of USA and Israel will see who is the real leader. But wouldn’t that be nice for the school boys in the yard, the GOP Congress that was propping Bibi???

The DOJ will continue to work with Ferguson and the surrounding municipalities … although anybody who still has a soul wants immediate action, I realize “due process” actually must occur. Unlike what African Americans have received in similar situations, all across the country. I guess a federal monitor will be appointed, the DOJ will work with the municipalities and communities, and a decade from now, maybe the grandchildren of Ferguson will see the results. But at the very least, some things will change in the interim, for the good, if only by force.

    • 86 No Child Left Behind

      • 87 jacquelineoboomer
        March 4, 2025 at 3:55 pm

That was another thought I had … all kinds of attorneys should be swarming into Ferguson and the surrounding communities. Of course, it’ll be the taxpayers picking up the tabs because the police and city officials are “protected” by their employers, but maybe some PERSONAL responsibility could be assured. Take the assets of those who took them from the members of the community whose biggest crime was to be stuck living there.

        • 88 Jeff
          March 4, 2025 at 4:48 pm

The tax payers should pick up the tab in my opinion. Tax payers are the ones who enable corruption like this and sit on their thumbs.

I read one city fired all their police due to complaints and corruption that is why that officer who murdered Michael Brown wound up in Ferguson. All these municipalities need to fire then only hire those that had NO arrest that were shady and punitive. I hope none of them wind up in SoCal.

Not sure what his agenda is, but I agree with you Chips. The DOJ report IS about Ferguson…and by focusing on Ferguson, no one is saying or implying that the 89 other municipalities don’t exist! In fact, just the opposite..we are saying let’s use what we now know happened in Ferguson to address a more widespread and nationally systemic issue….

Hopefruit, you know my fixation with Christine Byers, the St Louis Dispatch creature who acted like the Ferguson PD and Wilson’s PR woman through all this? I noticed she RTed this, while showing next to no interest in the DOJ findings re systematic racism. These people don’t even pretend any more, they are repulsive.

Very interesting…not surprising though. Byers and her ilk are truly disgusting human beings….

What are the city of Ferguson going to do, get out there and ready some of those racists emails?

They will get out there and LIE until there are no lies left bella. They will then return to “business as usual”
If cities and states used proper taxes to fund their existence this would go away.

And just to mention - NO city the size of Ferguson needs 50 in the police department. In my world we have 1 police person for every 5-10000 or so people. We do have fewer guns than in the US - but in Ferguson the only gun problems come from the police.

The DOJ need to sue them and bankrupt them or they must fire all these officers who violated these people civil rights.

OT but I see where ManU slaughtered Newcastle while Chelsea just squeaked by over West Ham.

Sick at heart by this report, but not surprised. All you have to do is remember that Mike Brown initially was stopped for walking in an empty street which then escalated until he was dead.
