      Well the right wing haters says the First Lady is starving the kids, they are throwing the healthy lunches away. They says that the First Lady should not be telling them what to feed their children. This whole thing is embarrassing, because who would ever thought that wanting our school kids to eat healthy meals would be controversy. It is disgusting how hateful those right wing haters are.

      School lunches are now often provided by companies that need to make a profit. They serve food that the children will buy. They have to follow nutritional guidelines, which are not great but they are something. The fact that children do not choose the healthiest food is not because of the school. It’s because most of our families do not place a high value on nutritional food at home. That could be for a variety of reasons, but it’s certainly not because of the schools. In France they are very very food conscious and that’s reflected in their school food. I remember watching a video a few years ago about one town where they noticed obesity rates among children rising. The school and community were appalled and developed a plan. They children were taught nutrition at all levels. They designed their own menus based on what was locally available. The school involved parents, holding nutrition and cooking class at the school, and sending home recipes to try. Healthy eating was the focus of town and school. Compare that to the outrage that greeted Michelle Obama’s efforts to upgrade school lunches. You should see the lunches and snacks they bring from home sometimes.

      I have quite a few of those in my classroom and a few others that’d are my personal favorites, but not listed there. This month we are having a March Book Madness tournament. Sixteen books, 8 we’ve read and 8 which are new, go head to head in a series of brackets. Which will emerge the champ? Time will tell!!

He could often be seen on the streets of central Seoul early in the morning and late at night walking his basset hound, Grigsby…..

    … An Ohio native, Lippert, 42, made his way into politics as an aide to Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and to former senator Thomas Daschle. In 2005, he joined the office of then-Sen. Barack Obama. For a senator trying to get up to speed on foreign affairs, Lippert, who earned a master’s degree in international policy studies at Stanford University and studied Mandarin in Beijing, proved a valuable adviser. He later advised Obama’s 2008 campaign. A Navy reservist, Lippert returned to active duty from 2007 to 2008 and served as an intelligence officer in Iraq. When he left, Lippert helped recruit Denis McDonough, a former Hill colleague, to replace him on the campaign. McDonough is now the White House chief of staff…continued (he was also Ass.         The story says he will have 4 ROK policeman & his wife will have 3 assigned to them from now on…also I didn’t know that the current President was also a victim of a knife attack… I read somewhere else that the same knife wielding guy slashed the Japanese Amb. as well.. a few years ago!

    “Pfeiffer: I went to see “Fast and Furious 5.” In the middle of the movie, I check my BlackBerry, and I have an e-mail from someone on the national security staff inviting me to a meeting. So I leave the movie to get back to the White House. As I’m coming in, the cast of “True Blood” is outside the gate trying to figure out why their tour has been canceled. We decided we’re going to do [the announcement] in the East Room and [the senior adviser David] Plouffe and I walk over to look at the setup. There’s just two guys slowly moving chairs. Plouffe and I are like, We better go get people so we can do this ourselves. We may have killed bin Laden, but we don’t have a room to speak in.”

    Tweety’s wife is considering running for Chris Van Hollen’s seat he’s vacating to run for Senate.

    Gonna be confusing to follow any articles about this because both her husband and current incumbent have the same first name, and any articles about her will surely mention her husband, so there’s two Matthews in that story as well.
