I just finished watching this wonderful interview.
PBO is surely the smartest President ever as he demonstrates once again the giant grasp of history and human behavior that he has at his fingertips. How will we survive after him? Thinking about the current crop of candidates who will follow PBO in the WH after watching this tour de force makes me feel ill.

I don’t know Hebrew, but there is a nice PBS style documentary (on the arc of the relationship between PBO/Bibi) that is posted on the site as well….about 65% of the people interviewed speak English and its about 30 minutes long. I haven’t had a chance to watch this interview in full yet, but the Channel 2 woman seems like an objective journalist.

The age old ? finally answered :D

“That wet smell is from the microorganisms that live in your dog’s fur like yeast and bacteria. These organisms excrete stinky volatile compounds. But if these compounds are always being produced in your pet, why does the bath make them stand out? When your dog gets wet, the water displaces and liberates these organic volatile molecules from the surface of the dog’s fur allowing them to find their way right into your nose.”

“Microsoft will release the Windows 10 operating system for tablets and personal computers on July 29. Terry Myerson, Microsoft’s head of operating systems, made official various elements that have dribbled out in recent months after the company said it was planning a summer launch for the next version of its flagship OS. Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for most machines running versions 7 or 8.1 (enterprise versions aren’t included), while Windows Phone owners will have to wait longer. Anyone considering the upgrade should make sure their PC can handle running the new software smoothly. Testing and reviews will provide the best answer, though Microsoft’s initial specifications signal that any PC cable of running Windows 7 or 8.1 should be able to make the leap. The OS will ship with the digital personal assistant Cortana, a new Web browser called Edge and, perhaps most importantly, the beloved Start menu that had been eliminated in version 8.1. Windows 10 will also include free antimalware protection and continuing security updates..continued”

I don’t plan on upgrading… I’m still on Windows 7 and don’t even use explorer. I can’t even close my laptop b/c the monitor will stop working from when I dropped it a year ago….took 3 months for the the screen to magically light up again :D

If one didn’t know what had happened in Congress, old Markie almost makes it appear that President Obama might be the one holding things up usually but that, in this case, it was an unexpected fast turnaround for him to sign it, rather than go golfing or something.

Of course, I’m an O-bot, so that’s the way I see everything - gotta admit that!

EXACTLY JO’B! I was thinking exactly the same - I just didn’t quite know how to articulate it at the time I posted this tweet, because I was busy at another task. But it’s clear that he was being snide with this tweet — hoping to get feedback from his RW minions on Twitter.

“MILPITAS — It turns out that one person’s junk is indeed someone else’s treasure. A South Bay recycling firm is looking for a woman who, in early April, dropped off boxes of electronics that she had cleaned out from her house after her husband died. About two weeks later, the firm, Clean Bay Area, discovered inside one of the boxes a rare find: a vintage Apple I, one of only about 200 first-generation desktop computers put together by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ron Wayne in 1976. The recycling firm sold the Apple I this month for $200,000 to a private collection, Vice President Victor Gichun said. And now, because company policy is to split proceeds 50-50 with the donor, he’s looking for the mystery woman who refused to get a receipt or leave her name….

…”We are looking for her to give her $100,000,” Gichun said. She had stopped by on a Friday just before closing time. “She said, ‘I want to get rid of this stuff and clean up my garage,’ ” Gichun said. “I said, ‘Do you need a tax receipt?’ and she said, ‘No, I don’t need anything.” The company had a backup of donations, and didn’t immediately go through her boxes. He feels badly because the woman said her husband had died a couple of months earlier. Gichun’s own mother died at age 54, and he remembers how his father suffered afterward. Maybe, Gichun said, having some extra cash might help the woman…continued”

Good evening TOD! Thank you so much for the wonderful posts the last few days, and in particular the most recent interview with Israeli tv. I simply cannot comprehend how we are going to survive when this man leaves office. We are so blessed. His thoughtfulness, and world view are so necessary given the times we live in. He is going to be an impossible act to follow. I only hope that he continues in the public eye to keep us satisfied:-)

It is a sad week thinking about the Bidens. Their loss is unimaginable. I am so grateful for this community. Hope everyone is doing well.

A friend of mine with an anthropology background suggested that Republicans are actually another species living among us, a fact that scientists have yet to prove but are probably all working on determining in their labs.

Or, as she put it, look at the eyes.

As a native of the formerly industrialized Midwest that is now called the Rust Belt, I understand the concerns and misgivings that some harbor for international trade agreements – and I share some of them – but I do not share the abject pessimism of the detractors. Given the strong pro-worker positions President Obama has championed and fought for, and considering his success in steering us out of the worst economic crisis of our lifetime, I await a draft of this international trade agreement with measured optimism. As Obama has said, we have an opportunity to write the rules for the 21st Century.
