Hey NW and thanks.

Would you mind freeing my comments from 6:56 & 7:15 PM and leave the 8:55 in spam please…TY
Great round-up, NW! Congrats, COS
“At lunchtime on a spring day last year, Joe Biden was at his desk in the West Wing. When the door opened, the Vice-President stood up and stretched. He appeared to be in mid-thought. It was a busy week—I was there to talk to him about Iraq, Ukraine, and other dramas—but when I asked what he’d been thinking about at his desk, he beamed. “A First Communion, man!” It was coming up that weekend, in Delaware, and Biden was heading home to his vast, inseparable family. He said, “I look around at my sister, and a lot of my peers, and younger peers with children who are getting out of college, and they’re scattered all over the universe. I’ve really been lucky. My oldest son, Beau, is attorney general, so he lives a mile and a quarter from my home. My other son, Hunter, lives literally a mile and a quarter from the residence here.” His daughter Ashley went to college at Tulane, and, for a while, he feared that she would settle “down in Looziana,” he said, drawing out the vowels. “Fortunately, she married a Philly boy.” He said, “Every Sunday, when we’re home, we have dinner, you know. It’s been that way for twenty-five years.” In their tragedy, their striving, their survival, and their improbable optimism, the Bidens are a deeply American family—a clan that, even as it edged into privilege, has never looked out of reach or out of touch….
…The father sometimes talks of his people in anthropological terms—“We Bidens,” he says. As he put it in his memoir, “Promises to Keep,” “We Bidens have strong personalities, and we live close.” In the Biden family, nothing is ever a solo decision. Two and a half years after Neilia’s death, when Joe Biden met Jill Jacobs, his sons asked, “Are we gonna get married again?” (They did; she became Jill Biden.) Many years later, in 1987, Beau Biden would join his father on the campaign trail, urging him to stay in the race even as hopes faded. Richard Ben Cramer, in his book “What It Takes,” described Beau joining his father at a campaign event so dull and quiet that you “could hear wool pants rustling on Naugahyde banquet chairs.” The listeners peeled away, and his father kept talking, “till Beau, toward the end, was staring at his shoes, murmuring, ‘Dad … finish.’ ” Among the many tributes to the Bidens, Senator Harry Reid said, “There’s a song, ‘A Man of Constant Sorrow,’ that, certainly, if that ever applied to someone, it would be our friend Joe Biden.” The sentiment was true and kind, but somehow the analogy seems temporary. The Bidens’ sorrow has been exceptional, but never constant.”
“Spider-Man would be so envious. Spiders have woven webs infused with carbon nanotubes and even graphene, raising the prospect of new materials with record-beating properties. Graphene – sheets of carbon just one atom thick – is one of the strongest artificial materials, and spider silk is one of the strongest natural ones…continued”
“..Spraying spiders with atom-thick graphene or carbon nanotubes infuses their webs with “unprecedented” super-strength — enough to catch a falling plane from the sky. Researchers at the University of Trento in Italy found that combining 300 nanometre-wide graphene particles or nanotubes with water, and spraying the solution onto arachnids, had surprising effects on their silk. Through a process that is not yet entirely clear, some of the 15 Pholcidae spiders in the study created webs that where 3.5 times as tough as the best silk known to nature — that of the giant riverine orb spider. It’s also on a par with the other toughest material known to nature — limpet teeth…continued”
Damn, I love science.
China has a whole lab devoted to breeding and collecting this silk http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/notrocketscience/2012/01/03/genetically-engineered-silkworms-with-spider-genes-spin-super-strong-silk/
“Spider silk is a remarkable material, wonderfully adapted for trapping, crushing, climbing and more. It is extraordinarily strong and tough, while still being elastic enough to stretch several times its original length. Indeed, the toughest biological material ever found is the record-breaking silk of the Darwin’s bark spider. It’s 10 times tougher than Kevlar, and the basis of webs that can span rivers…continued”
Imagine walking into that web!
THAT PHOTO OF HUCKABEE….HIS CUP OVERFLOWS WITH VENOM!…SNAKE PERSONIFIED!…SICK BASTARD!
“Around the world, what the media often refer to as “the animal rights movement” is taking off. Mass protests, fierce lobbying, litigation, and draft treaties have led to new legislation at the national, provincial, and city levels. It is now forbidden to use great apes in biomedical research, to bullfight in Catalonia, and to operate factory farms and slaughterhouses without adhering to the stricter rules governing the treatment and living conditions of livestock. However, with a few exceptions, these efforts are not truly about “animal rights” but about “animal welfare.”
One reason for this difference is that worldwide, animals are regarded as “legal things,” incapable of having rights and treated as articles of property. In contrast, humans are deemed “legal persons,” possessing intrinsic value and the capacity for an infinite number of legal rights as the owners of “legal things.” Another reason is that the term “animal” encompasses the enormously diverse biological kingdom of animalia, which comprises more than 1.25 million known species (with more to be discovered) that fall along a vast continuum of consciousness, sentience, general intelligence, and autonomy. It includes 60,000 vertebrates: 5,500 mammals, 10,000 birds, 6,200 amphibians, 30,000 fish, and 8,200 reptiles. The million-plus known invertebrates include about 950,000 varieties of insects, 81,000 mollusks, and 40,000 crustaceans…continued”

THE CENTER FOR Avian and Exotic Medicine in New York City isn’t your average pet clinic. Cats and dogs are not allowed, but you can find bearded dragons, sugar gliders, ferrets and more. Linda Kuo spent over a year documenting the extraordinary patients of the center for her series Displaced. Kuo made portraits of pets as they underwent everything from routine checkups to complicated surgeries. Treatments include endoscopy, radiosurgery, mass removals, and even shell repair. The photographer captures her subjects in a way that’s clinical but compassionate, showing the special skills and curious technology required to treat exotic animals.
She witnessed dozens of cases that came through the door—a rabbit in need of dental work or a macaw with feather destructive disorder. Some animals arrived deeply malnourished from neglect while others were there for expensive specialty treatments. In the case of the rat under the glass apparatus, the pet was preparing to undergo a costly procedure to remove a tumor. While some people might find it ridiculous to spend that much money on a rat, Kuo sees it as a personal choice. “For me it was about accountability,” she says. “If they wanted to spend their money on being a responsible pet owner, I tip my hat to them.”…. Kuo hopes the series educates people about how challenging it can be to care for these animals. Though it can be fun, the photographer would discourage people from purchasing an exotic pet. If they do buy one, she suggests extensive research first. “These animals suffer because they are removed from the indigenous environment; they have natural instincts to be wild,” she says. “Even if they are captivity bred, they have very specialized needs.”

Kitty is going up and down. This cat reminds me of a poem I learned as a child, titled the “The Owl and the Pussycat.”
The owl and the pussycat went to sea out in a beautiful pea-green boat;
They took some honey and plenty of money, wrapped up in a five-lb note;
The owl looked up…”
Oh…uh….didn’t I recite this poem for the day, already?
I deserve a Nobel Prize! I finally discovered a reliable way to leave amk speechless - for 5-10 minutes that is. :)
HF 😄😄😄
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon,
The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.
Oooooh….ha! It’s great Carol that you know this poem. We can now recite it for dear amk on a daily basis. :)
 Hopef, I read that, and the rest started tumbling around in my head. Don’t ask me where it originated, as I haven’t a clue!
…
The owl looked up to ….the stars above and sang to a great guitar.
‘O lovely Pussy,
O Pussy my love,
What a beautiful kitty you are!
You are, you are, what a beautiful kitty you are.’
Pussy said to the owl,
‘You elegant fowl,
how charmingly sweet you look.
Do let us be married,
too long we have tarried.
But what shall we do for a …..?
……………………… (I ran out of memory here. Can’t remember what else happened before CarolMae’s ending.
And hand in hand, at the edge of the sand
……..
I guess three heads still do not make one complete memory. :D :D
Dear, oh dear.. a-hem:
I
The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
“O lovely Pussy! O Pussy, my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
You are,
You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!”
II
Pussy said to the Owl, “You elegant fowl!
How charmingly sweet you sing!
O let us be married! too long we have tarried:
But what shall we do for a ring?”
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the Bong-Tree grows
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood
With a ring at the end of his nose,
His nose,
His nose,
With a ring at the end of his nose.
III
“Dear Pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your ring?” Said the Piggy, “I will.”
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon,
The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.
:D :D Y thank you, P! I recognize it all now. :D What’s funny is that I did mentally get to …
‘What shall we do for a ring?
They sailed away…’
But each time I said it over mentally when I got to ‘They sailed away…..’ all that came was ‘…on a sunny summer’s day on the back of a crocodile. You see said she ‘he’s as tame as tame can be, I’ll ride him down the Nile’, so I realized that I’d reached my limit.
Of course, I could now say that four brains are better than one, except I suspect that *your* brain led you to do some external research - a different kind of brain power?
Oh my vc! Amk will LOVE you for this. :) I’m so glad to see that I’m not the only one who remembers this lil’ poem. Soon we might have a fourth head to help complete our memory! :)

Hope this hasn’t been posted before; I’m just seeing it. Let the games begin, playing around with other people’s life changes. Shame on change.org.
To me, this is like the suggestion to change the name of the Edmund Pettus bridge.
A woman was walking along the beach when she stumbled upon a Genie’s lamp. She picked it up and rubbed it, and lo-and-behold a Genie appeared. The amazed woman asked if she was going to receive the usual three wishes.
The Genie said, “Nope … due to inflation, constant downsizing, low wages in third-world countries, and fierce global competition, I can only grant you one wish. So … what’ll it be?”
The woman didn’t hesitate. She said, “I want peace in the Middle East. See this map? I want these countries to stop fighting with each other.”
The Genie looked at the map and exclaimed, “Gadzooks, lady! These countries have been at war for thousands of years. I’m good, but not THAT good! I don’t think it can be done. Make another wish.”
The woman thought for a minute and said, “Well, I’ve never been able to find the right man. You know, one that’s considerate and fun, likes to cook and helps with the housecleaning, is good in bed and gets along with my family, doesn’t watch sports all the time, and is faithful. That’s what I wish for … a good mate.”
The Genie let out a long sigh and said, “Lemme see that fucking map!”
Yup.
My comments are going into SPAM :( …need a NW or Chips intervention for two of them!
Excuse my language TOD fam, but Ted Cruz is a P.A.B.!
Ted Cruz Mocks Joe Biden The Day Before He’s Burying His Son http://thkpr.gs/3665980 via @thinkprogress
Raise your hand if you think Ted Cruz have any dam sense? He is a disgrace to the human race.
Bella, Lamh, there aren’t words in the English language vile enough to describe Ted Cruz. I hope there’s a special circle of hell with his name of it.
Cruz is an idiot, however ftr the funeral is slated for Saturday …if I’m not mistaken.

Lincoln Chafee is running on ideas strongly opposed to HRC. A Peace Platform.
On Chris Hayes (I know, I know. I am TOD’s only Chris Hayes fan)
Anyway. On Chris just now Gov. Chafee named Hillary’s Iraq vote and her Neo-con policies as SOS. What? SOS doesn’t make US policy.
Chris looked unhappy at what Chafee was saying or by what his producers were telling him in his earpiece, and the interview seemed to be cut short.
This is actual opposition to HRC. Calling her out on her war votes and the millions she continues to receive from weapons manufacturers.
Not the silly objections Martin O’Malley is raising about “dynasties.” As David Axelrod is tweeting, MO’M didn’t seem to mind dynasties when he was all-in for Hillary in 2008.
And yes, if HRC is the dem candidate I’ll vote for her.
Vicki…
you keep feeding us the nasty on Hillary Clinton…and then at the end you tell you will vote for her..what is that all about…
We know what is Hillary Clinton…but whatever Hillary Clinton is or is not
She is Better than any of the GOP candidates who are running or who have yet to run for office…and that is the bottom line…i do not see her as the better of 2 evils…if she is the nominee, i see her as the best choice….
because it is the GOP and what they represent that is Evil….
Exactly.
I don’t want my unpleasant words about HRC to mislead anyone into thinking ANY GOP is a better choice. HRC is a better choice than any Republican.
My goal is for the Dem nominating process and primary season to be open.
Not a foregone conclusion.
I don’t want us to be bamboozled into believing that HRC is our only choice. I want Democrats to listen carefully and vote in the Primaries for the candidate they prefer.
Not the candidate the media and questionable polls tell us we Must support.
to think that you are running for next POTUS and it is okay for you to use a grieving father as a joke in your campaign speech!
there are scumbags, then there is that evil. pompous, lying senator from Texas - can’t mention his name because I despise him so much;
and some in his audience laugh - what have some of these republicans become (totally inhuman??)
Grade A Piece of shit has put a meaningless apology:
So who told the creep to give the apology? Ted Cruz is a disgrace to the human race.
when evil has taken over your heart, no after-the-fact apology is enough
He is Not a child.
He is crude, cruel, wickedly and a total A-hole.
Yeah, new joke Ted Cruz, you total ass, those of us with hearts do not accept, and the Vice President has already risen above it.

I didn’t even watch the #DuggarInterview, and I feel as if I need a shower. Reprehensible, evil, disgusting people.
If that’s true, that Mrs. Chafee wrote that, then my usual thought that “Facebook ruins lives” stands. Poor woman, that she wouldn’t know how that would appear, if her comment got out.
Poor long-time political wife, too.
In other words: huh?
you know, I haven’t seen anything about Beau Biden on the nightly news. I thought it was just I was missing it and so I really have been paying attention the last few days. Nothing. #MEDIAFAIL
oh and Ted Cruz is an asshat.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
(nite TOD)
Not only has the media gone mad, and asshats like Cruz been exposed, but we as a country have lost a certain natural gracefulness around matters of the heart and life, that we all could share together to feel our commonality.
Sometimes I feel we’ve gone beyond the ruthless dog-eat-dog sense of existence and competition, to making some of us feel like we’ve experienced a great loss. Those of us who get it, who are striving to keep it, must continue doing what we can to be brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers.
I don’t know if that made sense, but we do know ” … there is an endless supply of paint,” because we’ve all had to keep visiting where the paint cans are stored for too long of a time now … although many of us are, quite frankly, drained.
Beautifully stated, JOB. There is a common humanity that’s been lost in the US. There are, as you say, those who get it and those who revel in ugliness and divisiveness. We can’t let the dividers and haters win.
WELL DONE JOB….THEY DO AN AWESOME JOB OF DESTROYING THEMSELVES IN THIS COUNTRY…HATRED REEKS WITH DECAY!
Thanks, Jackie. And we stand arm in arm on that one!
Happy Thursday to you, if it’s Thursday. :)
Love 21st-Century kids. Four-year-old great grandson back in Florida calls my son, his grandfather, here today. My son told me he wasn’t quite grasping the meaning or context behind what the little action figure was telling him, and asked him a couple of times to repeat it.
Then the little action figure said, gently, “Should I put you on speaker, Poppie?”
Because, of course, when you put the other person on speaker, then Mommy can help translate into the Official Language of the Four-Year-Old.
This stuff just makes my day!
:D :D :D I miss the little action figure.
And he misses you. <3 Well, the good news is that he and Mommy will be here Monday for 2 weeks! My oldest granddaughter is flying up with the little action figure and my son's two younger children (the latter two will be here for the summer). Good times!
 Two weeks of him checking up on you and straightening out any kinks in behaviour you have acquired since his absence! :D :D
So true. I should be back “in shape” after he leaves! :) :)
And all incentivizing by him will be lovingly done! :D :D :D
Yes. He thinks I’m “nice. and old. and nicey.” <3
:) :) :) I’m cracking up and he hasn’t arrived back yet - o the honesty of the very young! I do like the little ones before they have become ‘worldly-wise’, and I stomach their truth far more easily that anyone else’s because it very, very rarely comes with malice.
Exactly, vc. I take everything he says as a compliment! Like the time he saw a photo of me from about 25 years ago, and instead of saying “What happened?” - Ha! - he looked me in the face and repeated a couple of times, big smile on HIS face, “Oh you looked so NICE. SO NICE.” (I’m cracking myself up, now.)
“Oh you looked so NICE. SO NICE.” :) :) :)
The real and the original klown joins the kkklowns kar. Again.

gm amk - I did think that was going to be Romney - but I got the ever so serious bespectacled Perry. A true circus this lot.
oh, don’t worry, mittbot is still po’ed and will joint the circus.
“His 14-year tenure at the helm of the country’s second largest state earned the socially conservative Christian a reputation for cutting spending.”
The economy in Oz is heading down the river due to “cutting spending” by the conservative government - the so called fiscal responsible lot. They are ALWAYS overseeing economic problems they cause.
I’ll join you on the picket line, bud. Let’s see how we mesh.
Good West Coast morning amk. Where’s Chips? 😊
Well go knock on her door!
It’s open, courtesy ut.
???????
also. too.
How come your three gifs appear and my one (posted twice) didn’t? Do you have a gif-shooting drone? I’m very suspicious now.
#modmonster.
So what’s with WordPress not updating comments? Is is only me that’s being ignored?
Good day, TODobots! Not exactly sure what’s going on, but still sending a ‘Happy Thursday’ message to everyone while WP gets its act together.
This is weird. I shared a gif…twice… before this comment and they went AWOL - unless Amk batted them out of the sky!
MOOOOoooorning, good people. New post!

US Unemployment number dipped this week to 276,000. Down from 284,000 last week.
Jaw-dropping after months and years it was 500,000 and up.
This week the media cannot even spin it as they have been doing.
For example, If the UE# is 276,000 and last week was 275,000 the headline would be, “Unemployment Surges.” America—-land of propaganda and eternal negative PBO bullshit.
