Since TX is one of these States with Limited….$250K….on damage awards…..I hope that these laws will be able to come up with multiple charges and settle for far more than $250K.

So April Ryan of the Urban Radio at the WHPC presser today was fanning the idiotic meme that Pres Obama was carrying a pack of Cigarettes in Germany……the indication…..oops, the accusation is that POTUS was smoking outside with the PM of Italy outside a balcony?
    Seriously?
The idea that these fools would insist on their version of biased fatuous nonsense on Pres Obama…….STILL, these many years later is wickedly Cruel.

Come on, fools, bring it. Show how pathetic you are. The whole world is still watching. (oh, maybe I cussed a little on Sasha’s birthday, sorry about that!)

Hi Nerdy, Chips , 57 for first, Meta, Prettyfoot and all of TOD.
Thank you for the newsworthy juicy tweets, Nerdy!
I am back from a lovely family visit and tuning in to see what has changed lately.

Looks like the vote on TPP will happen if not Friday, then next week. If the votes aren’t there the GOP will delay the vote, correct?
My question here is will the TPP going ahead put an end to the bitter campaign against PBO? Or will the angry denunciations continue until final passage…

My guess is that the Supreme Court will hold the Obamacare decision until their last day which is June 29. What happens then I have no clue.

Also, nothing is new or clear about the Iran deal except that Israel had been bugging the talks. I have heard the word “extension” but that could be negative propaganda.

The Red Cross’ horrifying behavior in Haiti may not be a stand-alone news event. Remember that PBO named Bill Clinton Ambassador to Haiti? And USAID led by Rajiv Khan, (selected by HRC,) is part of the US State Department which (led by the then-SOS Hillary Clinton) orchestrated the “Haiti response?”

Raj Khan resigned a while ago with no explanation that made the news.

We may or may not be hearing more about the TOTAL lack of visible benefit that Haiti received. When put on the spot, ex-Pres. Clinton says something about a factory. As far as I know, no homes were built for the people who were devastated by the earthquake. It seems possible that rolling out the Haiti failures is a GOP plan.

To jackieg and eve I was sorry to hear about your health problems and hope that you and your family members are soon restored to full strength.

GE TOD! Thanks for the round-up, NW!

“FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — When he put on the mask and slipped on the headphones, Brandon Allen wasn’t sure exactly what he was getting into. Then it began — and he was “engulfed.” Arkansas’ senior quarterback is among a growing number who sees — and feels — the potential of virtual reality in college football. Created by STriVR Labs, a start-up company grown out of a former Stanford kicker’s Master’s thesis, the technology is still in its infancy. But the universal first impression of the virtual reality trainer is something like this: “It’s insane,” says Arkansas coach Bret Bielema, who adds: “This changes the game.” When Allen slipped on the gear — an Oculus Rift headset, followed by a nice set of headphones, he was suddenly standing not in the conference room adjacent to Bielema’s office, but in the quarterback’s position on the practice field. Looking straight ahead, and then scanning left and right, he recognized the defensive alignment and saw how the offense was arrayed. Then Allen turned around. Behind him, a running back awaited the snap….Seen initially as a way to train quarterbacks — mental exercises, in essence, to reinforce actual practice repetitions — the technology has already morphed into use with other positions.Enterprising coaches have brainstormed ways to employ virtual reality in recruiting, too. The current STriVR client list includes Stanford, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Dartmouth and Vanderbilt, as well as the Dallas Cowboys.

That’s nearing the limits of what Belch’s group can handle — at least for now. But it’s only the beginning….Bailenson’s research into how people learn in a virtual environment spans almost 20 years. He has consulted with the military; his lab has drawn visits from presidents of companies and countries. A few weeks after spending three hours in Bailenson’s lab, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg spent $2.3 billion to purchase Oculus….Everywhere STriVR was implemented last spring, someone seemed to come up with a new idea. Auburn quarterback Jeremy Johnson recalls the first play he saw, from a seven-on-seven drill shot during spring practice. “Once he cut the play on, I actually went through all my progressions,” Johnson says. “You really just scan the defense for all the coverages. Whatever coverage they roll to. You can see everybody. It’s like watching film, but you’re there. You see everything…The creativity wasn’t just limited to on-field usage. Bielema and Malzahn have seen value in recruiting, as well. In the not so distant future, assistant coaches could take laptops and headsets with them on the road. Without setting foot on the Arkansas campus, a recruit could be standing, at least virtually, in the locker room with potential teammates, listening to a pregame pep talk. Then he’s in the tunnel as the players storm onto the field, or on the sidelines. Then he’s in a team meeting — “second row, third chair to the right,” Bielema says — listening to Bielema speak. Bielema had Belch shoot video inside each of the Hogs’ meeting rooms during position meetings. “If we’ve got an offensive lineman (recruit) visiting in the middle of June, he can go into a meeting room (virtually) and feel like he’s sitting in that room,” Bielema says. “Just some crazy recruiting tools”

I haven’t been to the movies in a while, but I thought this was one of the more entertaining ones I’ve seen in some time

“Most movies, especially big blockbuster action movies, look embarrassingly awkward when you strip away the CGI and special effects and expose it in real life. It’s because so much is fake these days! Not Mad Max: Fury Road though. That movie’s action sequences still look so bad ass in real life.

The video shows some of the action scenes as it appeared in the movie (after special effects were added) to footage of how it was filmed and man it’s not even that different! It’s less cinematic looking (obviously) but the action is just as bold and daring. The practical stunts are amazing. The explosions! The flying bodies! The soaring motorcycles! The jumping cars! You could watch the entire movie without the computer generated special effects and it’d still be the action movie of the year.”

Does TODland have a resident masseur? This has been a stressful day here on the home front, as most of my day was spent on the phone trying to track down my youth guest who didn’t show up for school. I’ve had more convos with law enforcement and other agencies today than at any other one time in my life! Anyhoo, the lad was returned home shortly after 3pm and I now need some unwinding time - so, who’s our resident masseur? Or, who can make me really, truly laugh without use of any profanity? Either/both would be very welcomed. :D

Among the key issues they are asking officials to advise the pope to consider discussing with President Barack Obama or during his address to Congress: immigration reform, economic injustice for low-wage workers, pervasive racism in U.S. institutions and society, and mass incarceration.

    • 50 prettyfoot58
      June 10, 2025 at 7:47 pm

When i read the topics that the union organizers and community leaders want the Pope to discuss with the President…i have to say DUHHHHHHHHHH….where have you been…these ARE the issues of the President…i think what a shame that between the press and the GOP and their allies in RW radio…folks do not know that these are issues of the President…

      • 51 jacquelineoboomer
        June 10, 2025 at 8:16 pm

Exactly. And I think there’s a big chance the Pope also knows exactly where the President is on these issues. Everybody else is looking for buy-in, which is okay, I guess, to make them feel involved. But it would be very, very nice if they’d send those topics to those in our country who are trying to block attempts to fix “immigration reform, economic injustice for low-wage workers, pervasive racism in U.S. institutions and society, and mass incarceration” - like all the RWNJs in Congress.

In the 1970s, only 3 percent of retiring members of Congress went on to become Washington lobbyists. Now, half of all retiring senators and 42 percent of retiring representatives become lobbyists.
This isn’t because more recent retirees have had fewer qualms. It’s because the financial rewards from lobbying have mushroomed, as big corporations and giant Wall Street banks have sunk fortunes into rigging the game to their advantage.
In every election cycle since 2008, more money has gone into lobbying at the federal level than into political campaigns. And an increasing portion of that lobbying money has gone into the pockets of former members of Congress.
