PBO is heading directly to the 83rd annual U.S. Conference of Mayors at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square. The conference focus is the economy but I’m guessing PBO will bring up TPP and probably gun sense legislation.
Then he’s doing a fundraiser with Nancy Pelosi at the home of Tom Steyer, who has very deep pockets and is hugely passionate about the environment.
PBO will also do a high-dollar roundtable with 30 people at the home of venture capitalist Shervin Pishevar, a venture capitalist with investments in Uber, Munchery, Airbnb, Shyp, MachineZone, Warby Parker, Beepi, Hyperloop, Cue, PillPack,Stance.
POTUS will spend the night in San Francisco before departing for at about 9:40am tomorrow morning. I don’t know where he’s staying but it’s likely going to be The Fairmont in Nob Hill, which is where he stayed last time he was here. Very nice weather here today, although pretty windy.
Here’s the pool report for @Schultz44’s press gaggle aboard AF1, LAX to SFO:
Potus print pool report 4 — gaggle highlights http://t.co/g8QF4Z05uc
— Public Pool (@WHPublicPool) June 19, 2025
Topics for the mayor’s conference:
“POTUS remarks to mayors: will be on efforts to help the middle class “despite inaction in Congress” … mentioned minimum wage, expanding paid leave, climate change, MBK initiatives. Noted cities who have embraced Obama agenda items, instituting paid sick leave and investing in early childhood education.”
I need a break…gonna take my “pseudo-grandson” (my other sons girlfriends 10 yr old) to see the new Jurassic Park movie in 3D this evening and eat popcorn.
And I was so just thinking that when I read on the last thread “PBO says the confederate flag belongs in a museum”. This man ALWAYS has the right words - he didn’t want to burn it, destroy it or tear it down - he would put it in a museum - it is part of history.
Will never understand why the US people didn’t use these last 6 years to soar to the most unbelievable heights - but allowed themselves to be taken down by racist b.s. from the poorest white farmer to the leaders in congress. President Obama has achieved so much - despite the congress - I do cry at what might have been.
Don’t ya love these roaring progressives who are ready to bash PBO for not being perfect, and then they stumble as they court the racist white vote? Easy to criticize, a whole lot harder to do the real job.
He’s just a huge disappointment, 57. I don’t blame anyone for not being able to answer the question ‘how do we fix racism’, but as Tommy said in the piece, it seems like he hadn’t even given the subject some thought. He’s been such a let-down.
He should have been more ready. I love these roaring critics who can’t take the heat. Hey, I only wish I could feel confident in someone other than Hillary, but with all their nitpicking at PBO, they sure have no idea of what it’s like out there. And they’re not black!
No comment ’cause this sez it all.

I recall speculation that MSM would hire more African American reporters after PBO was elected in 2008.
Don’t think that happened (do recall that Joe Williams was fired from GOPolitico for stating the bleeding obvious — that R-money only feels comfortable around people like himself), but it appears that more AAs are now part of the WHPC.
Finally some recognition that the President has been talking about race in America for his entire Presidential term.
This article is about a Discovery documentary airing this Sunday, Father’s Day:
TY @ToluseO
Pres Obama "has spent the past year addressing the issue of race on an almost weekly basis…" @bpolitics
http://t.co/FX3aQQLa3b
Oh, and, yes, that was shallow and I admit it! But I will also add, separate from that, the President’s remarks are anything but shallow. He’s talking with the U.S. Conference of Mayors meeting attendees in a tone of collegiality, he’s complimenting them, challenging them, giving them “options.”
There’s something so soothing about President Obama’s voice. I hear it and a sort of calm comes over me. The ills of the world around us haven’t gone away, our personal fears and struggles haven’t, either, but we have a leader we can trust and I plan to take advantage of that trust by calming myself down a bit, every time I’m privileged to listen to him chat with us.
Wow, what a fantastic speech. He’s really not going to stop punching these topics, speaking his mind on everything he believes is important and in the best interest of our country. It’s a MUST SEE. BRAVO.
And I REALLY REALLY loved when he pounded home the issue of TPP with Nancy Pelosi sitting just a few feet away from him. And the audience gave him applause on this. Heh.
Exactly, Jacqueline O! This judge needs to recuse himself. As far as I am concerned, he sympathizes with white families that breed white supremacist terrorists. Can you imagine a judge, presiding over a trial of muslim terrorists, asking for “forgiveness” for the terrorists and their parents?
Agree. I think I may have heard - a bit of good news - that this was just an interim magistrate who would handle today’s courtroom antics, and then would not be a part of future prosecution. Fingers crossed, because he - as you said - needs to recuse himself otherwise AND apologize for being a (fill in the blank). And then resign from whatever bench he thinks he sits on.
sickening. as if nobody in that family ever spoke a racist word, ever noticed the boy’s interest in racist ideas, ever shared a racist joke. that family, and the community that accepts racist behaviors, is complicit. they are not ‘victims’- they are accessories, co-conspirators, and should be pariahs.
Just staggering Susanne - and what got me even more when I saw the video was his tone, it was like he was lecturing the victims’ families in court, telling them Roof’s family’s pain was as great as theirs.
“Q. So the motorcade pulled up in front of your house earlier today and he came into the garage?
A. Dude. Yes. It was no simple process. Secret Service checked the parameters. Yesterday, they put a tent up that ran the length of my driveway, all the way behind my house to the garage. Today they came and put a tent over where the car was going to pull in. There were like 40 Secret Service people here. There were snipers on my neighbor’s roof. A sniper on my garage roof. They had L.A.P.D. all around the perimeter of the house. They have a protocol that occurs. And it was occurring in my house. Now everyone in the world knows where I live, O.K. And apparently the streets were lined with people for the motorcade. I was focusing on just dealing with the situation at hand and trying to have a personal conversation with the president in the midst of this…..
I spoke to @marcmaron about his @WTFpod interview with President Obama earlier today. http://t.co/xWrWs5fWSw
— Dave Itzkoff (@ditzkoff) June 19, 2025
Q.What did you talk about with him?
A. We talked about racism. We talked about gun violence. We talked about the Affordable Care Act. His disappointments. The obstacles of his presidency. His family, a little bit. How he goes on, day to day, with the same determination and optimism that he’s had throughout his presidency. The disappointments of the left and the right. His successes.
Q. People’s disappointments over what he didn’t accomplish? Or his own disappointments over what he didn’t do?
A. I didn’t get a sense that he experiences disappointment in that way. I got a sense that he’s a guy that realizes that growth and progress in a democracy are slow. He looks at the big picture. Specifically, he knows that there’s always going to be those voices. Why didn’t you do this faster? How come you didn’t do that? Why are you doing that? That’s the nature of it. He just keeps moving though because of his commitment and his vision that he made this country a better place, incrementally….continued”

sorry, but this man is not lacking adequate intelligence to distinguish between a planned terrorist attack and an ‘accident’. he is making a calculated political statement, designed to reassure voters who aren’t bothered by what happened in charleston. making light of his use of the word ‘accident’ feeds the belief that it’s no big deal, and placates those voters. i know we’re weary of outrage, but it’s the necessary response.

This guy doesn’t even understand what President Obama has had to put up with, much less have enough depth to criticize him.

If he thinks - and says in court - that murderers should be forgiven, why is he acting as an “impartial” judge? Mind boggling.
