Doug Mills: Obama touches “Lucy”. Lucy is estimated to have lived 3.2 million years ago in Ethiopia. #ObamaInEthiopia @POTUS

Dr. Zeresenay Alemseged Lemseged of the California Academy of Sciences, laughs at a quip by President Barack Obama as he and Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn look at the bones of Lucy, an early human. Lucy is the most famous fossil of the species Australopithecus afarensis, and was found in Ethiopia in 1974

‘…Six years ago, Fraser was an ordinary British teenager and had a pretty perfect life, according to his website. He was an athlete and a school prefect. That all changed one day while he was enjoying a vacation with friends in Portugal, when he dived into shallow surf and dislocated his neck. Now Henry is paralyzed from the shoulders down and gets around in a wheelchair…Heâd studied art in school, but didnât come back to drawing until this year. In January, Fraser was sick in bed, and bored of lying around. He began idly sketching with the@draw app on his iPad, using his stylus. His very first iPad drawing was of British rugby legend Johnny Wilkinson. He tweeted a photo of the drawing, and Wilkinson tweeted back, “That is phenomenal, Henry. I love it.”…
âSport has been a huge part of my life for really, my whole life,” he says. Thatâs what motivates him to draw so many athletes, including David Beckham, Usain Bolt andManny Pacquiao. Many of the people he sketches reach out to him once the picture is posted. Fraserâs also struck up a correspondence with J.K. Rowling over Twitter. She retweeted this drawing of Harry Potter with “Wow!” Rowling also leapt to his defense when Fraser posted an email from an unknown girl called Laura that said, “I canât believe how stupid you are — you deserve to not be able to use your arms and legs…continuedâ
Laura has two functioning arms and legs but she is an untalented headless chicken. Mr. Fraser does not wallow in what fate brought him he rises above it and letâs nothing limit his abilities.
Arizona Cardinals defensive back Tyrann Mathieu teamed up with PETA to star in a public service announcement on the potential consequences of leaving a dog inside a hot car. To demonstrate the danger, the Honey Badger sat inside a car in 90-degree weather. “I seriously couldnât imagine leaving my dog in the car like this,” he said while still inside.
Mathieu tapped out after eight minutes, when the car reached a scorching 120 degrees. By the time he stumbled out, his T-shirt was drenched in sweatâwhich, as the PSA reminds us, is something a dog cannot do to cool itself off. “If youâre going to make a dog a part of your family, then make him a part of your family,” Mathieu said. “Donât treat him like you wouldnât treat someone you cared about or someone you loved.”
âIn the summer of 2012, Walzer was preparing for his junior year of high school. Like many kids his age, his thoughts increasingly turned to college, with a blend of excitement and anxiety. His greatest concern? The ability to tie and untie his shoes. Walzer was born two months premature, weighing only two pounds, 14 ounces, with under-developed lungs that led to Cerebral Palsy. He overcame many of the physical limitations doctors predicted for him, but tying his shoes remained a challenge, as he only has flexibility in one hand. Being a college freshman is daunting enough, but the thought of having to rely on others to tie his shoes prompted Walzer to write Nike: âMy dream is to go to the college of my choice without having to worry about someone coming to tie my shoes every day. Iâve worn Nike basketball shoes all my life. I can only wear this type of shoe, because I need ankle support to walk. At 16 years old, I am able to completely dress myself, but my parents still have to tie my shoes. As a teenager who is striving to become totally self-sufficient, I find this extremely frustrating and, at times, embarrassing.â..
..FLYEASE introduces a wrap-around zipper solution that opens the back of the shoe near the heel-counter, making it easier to slide the foot in and out. At the same time, the system provides sufficient lockdown and eliminates the need to tie traditional laces. Walzerâs dreams of going to college and putting on his own shoes have been achieved. He is now a sophomore at Florida Gulf Coast University and is wearing his custom Zoom Soldier 8 FLYEASE kicks all over campus. Whatâs more, Walzer was able to meet his basketball hero, who returned the teenagerâs admirationâŚâMatthew inspired us at Nike to be able to bring something special that will not only be for himself but also for the masses,â asserts LeBron. âThe shoe and the inspiration he gave us is going to go way beyond Nike, Matthew and myself. I am very honored and blessed that my shoe is part of the whole process. This is an unbelievable story, and Nike has done a great job of being able to create something thatâs so incredible and will last a lifetime.â As Lebron notes, the vision Hatfield brought to life was never intended for just one athlete. âThere is a real need for a solution like this and it feels good to be a part of something that is going to help so many people. Like the asterisk accompanying Nikeâs mission statement says, âIf you have a body, youâre an athlete.â That means everybody and we never forget that,â adds HatfieldâŚcontinuedâ
Wow…sounds like a personal threat, to me.
his lawyuh as ugly as donald dreck.
YUP.
GM amk :)
GM Bob. birds, feathers and all that.
Trump and his associates have ZERO impulse control. Creeps.
There are laws against those types of threats ….
Oh, and then thereâs this ….
Huh? If theyâre unreported, what is he talking about. And then thereâs the rest of itâŚâŚ.this guyâs a real neanderthal.
“Lucy” had more integrity and functional intelligence than this dude, meta.
I have 1.1 percent of that neanderthal gene according to my DNA. I wonder if I am as dumb as this fool?
Thanks for this update on the Presidentâs day, NerdyW. smh - Iâve been in my own little TOD-world today, missing all the new post cues and talking to myself in corners.

Why organize?
// âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ..
âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ Should a mere 50 prominent black churches, out of the thousands that exist in cities like Chicago, decide to collaborate with a trained organizing staff, enormous positive changes could be wrought in the education, housing, employment and spirit of inner-city black communities, changes that would send powerful ripples throughout the city.
In the meantime, organizers will continue to build on local successes, learn from their numerous failures and recruit and train their small but growing core of leadership â mothers on welfare, postal workers, CTA drivers and school teachers, all of whom have a vision and memories of what communities can be. In fact, the answer to the original question â why organize? â resides in these people. In helping a group of housewives sit across the negotiating table with the mayor of Americaâs third largest city and hold their own, or a retired steelworker stand before a TV camera and give voice to the dreams he has for his grandchildâs future, one discovers the most significant and satisfying contribution organizing can make.
In return, organizing teaches as nothing else does the beauty and strength of everyday people. Through the songs of the church and the talk on the stoops, through the hundreds of individual stories of coming up from the South and finding any job that would pay, of raising families on threadbare budgets, of losing some children to drugs and watching others earn degrees and land jobs their parents could never aspire to â it is through these stories and songs of dashed hopes and powers of endurance, of ugliness and strife, subtlety and laughter, that organizers can shape a sense of community not only for others, but for themselves. ~Barack Obama

Should [serious citizens] decide to collaborate with a trained organizing staff [headed by me, former president], enormous positive changes could be wrought in the education, housing, employment and spirit of inner-city (black) communities, changes that would send powerful ripples throughout the city [/nation].

Woke up to the top story on TRMS; sheâs help Bernie perp a fraud that no Dem has ever done a 50 state strategy. Really…
Rachel brought on Richard Engel to talk about how we are getting deeper into war by siding with Turkey to help against ISIL/ISIS. Nauseating attack against our administration.
I turned to HGTV mid-Bernie shilling…
My TV is on HGTV 24-7… and on MSNBC 0-7
HGTV is my go-to channel, as well, although I allow myself little peeks at “the others” !!!
She might be occasionally correct, but sheâs an Emoprog - one of the actual ‘Professional Leftâ.
yup, the professional poutrage peddler.
I still havenât forgotten her comment that Obama did not want DADT repealed.
I know a lot of people on the left like her, but I canât stand her. sheâs incredibly emo and seems to think Obama can do EVERYthing by himself.
THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When will MSM start talking about Bernieâs non-accomplishments and how he expect to suddenly fulfill all of the promises to his followers? He has not done a d## thing but talk since he has been in congress. I am so sick of talk about his crowds.
‘On average, 330 million pairs of shoes find their way to peoplesâ feet every year in the UK alone. unfortunately, with each new pair, another finds itself on the way to the landfill where it will take over 50 years â minimum â to decompose. due to the large amount of materials used in a contemporary pair of sneakers, as many as 65 in some cases, recycling is difficult and expensive.
Designer ammo liao created âbio-knitâ in response to the unchecked waste caused by the shoe industry. By mimicking organic organisms and systems in nature, liao developed a single, multi-functional material that can simultaneously display soft, flexible, and robust textures. goods made with a single element could potentially have massive effect on the manufacturing and recycling of any industry, not just footwear. Obvious benefits include: conservation of natural resources, less solid-waste in landfills, energy savings, greenhouse/pollution reduction due to ridding of unnecessary creation processes, and drastically reducing the cost of recycling. A pair of sneakers was made by liao with no other material then âbio-knitâ in order to showcase the potential it has…continuedâ
It was in either Oct 2007. There is a Video. CNN Played it today. This was when Huckabee was trying to be reasonable. The Iraq war was in shambles, GW was still in office and the Media was still trying to do a slightly better job.
Huckabee has not had the taste of Fox, Money, selling nonsense on the Web and building a Multimillion $$ House in FL.

More prisoners may soon have access to federal subsidies to pay for college under a new Obama administration initiative, ending a 20-year ban on Pell grants for state and federal prisoners.
The move could come as soon as this week. Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Attorney General Loretta Lynch are scheduled to visit Goucher Collegeâs Prison Education Partnership at the Maryland Correctional Institution in Jessup on Friday, to make âan important announcement related to federal aid.â

This is what Iâm saying.
Love hearing about Philly, since Iâm from a nearby area originally - thanks for posting these interesting articles!
Youâre very welcome. How is your son doing? You continue in my prayers.
Thanks, Alycee, so much. Heâs still in hospital, waiting for possible next procedure end of the week, to repair a tear (not uncommon after the pneumonectomy, but serious). Weâre trying to keep his mind occupied with positive thoughts. We visit and he has a bunch of framed photos in his room, etc., and I asked when his “new curtains” would arrive. In a nod to his grandson, he said theyâd be SpongeBob fabric, of course!
Yesterday, I dropped off an “I <3 Obamacare" sticker, which is now on his message board.
Appreciate your continued prayers!
good night TOD
I was browsing the Trump story at LGF & do wonder what happened to those republican “family values” that were so important to the American way of life. Seems when the US got a democratic President who met every family value known to man - the GOP decided they really mean nothing at all. How on earth can anyone see Trump as the leader of anything - canât even look after his own family. Just revolting.
