President Barack Obama signs the 3 month extension of the Highway bill in the Oval Office. President Obama signed the bill into law to extend transportation funding until October 29, but said that short term extensions are a bad way for the U.S. government to do business
Congrats, VC! Delicious pictures of PBO signing the stupid 3 month highway bill extension the House GOP forced on us. How can Boehner possibly claim without crying tears of shame that he is proud of his accomplishments?!
Hi JF! I strongly doubt Boehner has any familiarity with shame as we know it. Nothing in his actions since he has become House Speaker would indicate he has. Heck, his previous behaviour also shows little shame, though he knows how to mouth ‘ I won’t do it again’.

Here’s something not enough people know about: Every week, a team of White House videographers puts together a short episode encapsulating what the President did that week — who he met with, where he traveled, and all sort of other fun moments in between.
This week’s episode covers the President’s trip to Kenya and Ethiopia — where he attended the 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Summit and met with leaders across government, business, and civil society — and it’s stocked with some pretty breathtaking images. Here are four of our favorites, complete with timestamps — but you should really want the full thing for yourself.
Happy watching! Come back next week for a new episode.

If you ask me you’ve placed way too much odds on my knowing! I saw you and NerdyW having fun with this earlier and the only bit I understood was the word Canada/Canadian. Oh, and Rosetta Stone. I’m used to not getting funny stuff in the village though so i wasn’t perturbed. 😀 😀
😀😀
I looked earlier from my window but couldn’t see any moon at all and didn’t want to go outside. Now I’ll pretend you enjoyed the sight for both of us (if you don’t mind sharing).
Pacific Rim free trade talks unlikely to end in deal: sources
LAHAINA, Hawaii (Reuters) - Talks on a Pacific Rim free-trade pact are unlikely to end in a final deal, sources involved in the negotiations said on Friday, with a dispute between Japan and the United States over autos, New Zealand digging in over trade in dairy products and no agreement on monopoly periods for next-generation drugs.
Trade ministers from the 12 nations negotiating the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which would stretch from Japan to Chile and cover 40 percent of the world economy, delayed until 4 p.m. local time (10 p.m. ET) a news conference originally scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on the Hawaiian island of Maui.
Three sources involved in the talks said a last-minute breakthrough was unlikely due to issues with dairy and auto trade and a stand-off over biologic drugs, which are made from living cells.

Evening TODers - 1st world problem - My computer thinks I live in the US - sigh. For reasons that will remain unsaid - due to the profanity that ensues when I discuss it - I googled “medicare form” to download a form to claim some medical bill rebates from our - not so wonderful - single payer health care. I ended up downloading a US form & spent 5 minutes trying to work out what it was all about.
Not funny of course, but we can’t really blame the computer when you and I practically live in the TOD village! 😀 It sometimes takes me ‘forever’ to get links relevant to me when I’m really doing research.
For me I always have to double check the links I get. Sometimes I’ve been merrily making notes before noticing that the info is not really relevant to *my* search. This happens fairly often when I’m looking for directions as place names seem very common. Imagine my surprise when I discovered not too long ago that there is a place called ‘Canadian’ in Texas! 😀
And most town/city names from the UK reappear in the US, Canada, Australia & all those other places that used to be coloured pink on the old school Atlas.
Nancy Lieberman was running her son T.J. through basketball drills on Thursday when her phone started blowing up with calls and texts. The news had started to spread: Sacramento Kings vice president of basketball operations Vlade Divac had offered Lieberman a position as an assistant coach on George Karl’s staff and she accepted.
Hi All, get well greetings to all those who are not feeling well GoBrooklyn and JoB’s son, those who have lost loved ones we continue to keep each of you in our prayers for total healing and comfort in time of bereavement.
I pray also for the scales of ignorance to fall from the eyes of RWNJs who continuously vote against their best interest just because of that ‘Negro in their white House’; continuous prayers for the beloved President Barack H Obama for continued wisdom, understanding, health and strength, for VP Biden for continued healing and strength during his time of sorrow.
Love and blessings to all TOD bt’s for keeping us up to date on all the real happenings and bringing the truth to journalism, amk’s toons and nerdy’s updates leave cnn, nyt, abc and huffpost in the dust any day and every day…back to lurking
Valerie Jarrett is a powerful force carrying out PBO’s agenda, which is why the RWNJs go after her. Love and appreciate the energy she brings to the White House. She is indispensable!
What’s this? Our roving engineer of crankydom has returned to the Twittahverse! Ahhhh, hence the Blue Moon!
I expect a swarm of locusts to appear any moment now!
Some of us old school R&B fans will remember Tony Terry for his beautiful song “With You”.
It became a pretty popular wedding song.I recall an interview he did back in the day where he shocked everyone when he revealed the song wasn’t written about a romantic relationship, but about his young daughter. Of course, the studio played it up as a romance song and the rest, as they say, is history.
Score another one for our music czar!!!❤❤ Thanks again. /whisper - don't tell, but this is the first I'm meeting Mr. Terry AND this song, and your explanation made it really meaningful. I don't think I'll ever think 'romance' if I hear it again./
What would I do without our TOD music/art expert? Thanks, girl chile! Honestly, I looked at the tweet from Marty earlier, checked the board members and was pleased that I ‘knew’ two well and was familiar with one other name. Now I’m familiar with two, and because Ms Golden comes recommended by a good friend I don’t think I will forget her. Thanks.😀

It seems as if….Joy Reid wrote a book called Fracture: Barack Obama, The Clintons and the racial Divide….sheesh
a statement by Chris Matthews: Joy Ann Reid exposes race as the San Andreas Fault of American politics.
book is due out in September….I have not read her book..
Matthews comments; as if we just stumbled upon racism…and Reid is revealing it….maybe that is not what her book will say,,,but …i am tired of folks pimping off the President
Meta, I’m chuckling here. I sent John Kerry a ‘safe travel’ tweet only to discover two clicks down that you’d already sent him a ‘safe journey’ tweet. Ah well, extra wishes for a safe journey won’t hurt. I was chuckling because I was thinking (modestly) ‘Great minds think….’. 😉
NerdyW, almost 2 hours later and I’m thinking as I scroll down the link “I really like the first pic of PBO!” It’s an awesomely relaxed and handsome pic of Pres O doing his job. Man, America/the world got lucky - in every way!
I was just checking in before bed and here I was thinking the very same thing. He is looking very presidential. I love him in that suit colour. Note to self…..enlarge and save for a rainy day.
Hi NerdyW
I left you a note about that funny PBO vintage video that Prettyfoot shared. It’d make a neat ‘funny’ post, I think.
Na nana nah na, hey Amk, good morning! 😀

No wonder you said ‘starting from home in 1, 2, 3 hours’😀😀😀
Safe travels, amk! Destination ?
thanks, bob. bertcertland. big contract. hopefully. fingers crossed.
Will be thinking of you, amk!!! Very best of outcomes and I’m confident you’ll succeed!

I know what you’re talking about!! :)) Drake vs. Meek Mill rap battle. And OVO Festival is the annual festival Drake throws once a year
Maybe you can be *my* researcher, S-peg (as long as you promise not to pay more than 1/16 of the attention LPlains gives to sports stuff).
Bingo! …. it starts tomorrow and Drake just invited a Toronto councilman after he started tweeting support😎
