Not so much an inability to think, but an inability to empathize with others not in oneâs own racial/economic group. That is why the racialization of issues is so successful in this country (i.e., the sure fire way to make a program unpopular is to put a Black face on it). Once it is racialized, demonization of the program and its beneficiaries is depressingly easy.
Of course he has mental health issues, this guy is a stud defensive lineman that was blackballed from playing in the NFL because he is gay. This guy was co-defensive player of the year in the SEC. If anyone knows anything about college football the SEC is the biggest and the baddest conference in college football. In my opinion all of Samâs issues I think come from not being allowed to play in the NFL. The NFL is filled with abusers and cheaters and liars and everything else, but I guess being gay is a bridge too far.

Good article, but I would argue that the white washing American history is DESIGNED to eliminate any feeling of guilt or responsibility by white people (i.e., it is a feature, not a bug). It is also tasked with the purpose of brainwashing Black folks to believe in their own inferiority by removing any historical context for their present condition. White washing history is one of the foundations upon which the doctrine of white supremacy is built. White “innocence” and racial immaturity must be maintained so the white resentment (which is the lifeblood of the GOP) can flourish. This is why “red” states like Texas are changing history textbooks to make slavery not seem so bad, and to portray Confederate soldiers in a sympathetic light (after all they were fighting for the nationâs real religion of white superiority). Any concerns of people of color take a backseat to the maintenance of the racial firewall that protects the white psyche from having to deal with the real world costs the doctrine of white supremacy imposes on its victims.

Hello Bob. I am not criticizing you or finding fault in your effort to start truth and reconciliation in this country. It is a noble endeavor and desperately necessary because white racism against Black people is a problem Black people endure but only white folks can solve (peacefully). I am merely using this forum to give my views on how we as a nation have come to this situation when it comes to race by pointing out how the doctrine of white supremacy works and is actively maintained. Knowing the game being played is necessary to keep Black folks and fair minded white people from being brainwashed.

That was a cool clip, Vernon Jordan has always been loyal to Bill. I remember Barack saying that in late 2007 or early 2008 he went to Jordan and asked for his endorsement. Jordan told him that he was backing Hillary, Barack said he understood and that there were no hard feelings. On a certain level you have to admire Vernon Jordan for sticking with his old friend Bill Clinton through thick and thin.

Iâm not surprised by this behavior at all, if you are black it is par for the course. Iâve got stories to tell, from car dealerships to department stores. Iâm not saying that I get profiled ALL the time, but just enough to let me know that I am viewed differently.
It really drains you, it demoralizes you and it makes you angry. Iâm not saying that Iâm constantly being profiled because of the color of my skin. I have been pulled over by policemen and have been treated with the utmost respect, I respect the police because they have a hard job to do. But I have also been pulled over by policemen that have been total assholes, white and black. I remember being pulled over by an officer late one night, I had just gotten off from work and I was driving home. The policeman said he stopped me because he said I crossed over a median yellow line when I made a turn, I didnât even argue with him and I think it caught him off guard that I didnât argue with him. I gave him my license and he went back and sat in his car for thirty minutes before coming back and telling me to pay attention next time, he didnât give me a ticket so I was glad for that. The shit wears on you.
Youâre so right Don. Itâs extremely tiring and draining. Some of my male relatives have complained about similar experiences to what you just described in your post. A kid going to a bookstore should NEVER, EVER invoke police contact - unless that kid is deliberately disturbing other patrons, engaging in illegal or criminal activity at the store.
Leaving your belongings unattended is NOT illegal, or criminal, nor is it disruptive to anyone except the person who left his/her stuff unattended!

VP Biden is one of the most underrated public speakers on the political spectrum. This man can give a powerful and emotionally resonating speech…Iâm just saying. And what makes it even more poignant is that heâs giving this speech just months after laying to rest his beloved son. With every month that passes, I can see why he was selected (among many) to be PBOâs VP. In my perfect hindsight, I see that none of the other “contenders” could never compete with this man in the running!
Exactly. And as I listened to his speech, I could finally see what his close associates have been saying: he may be exploring the presidency because he is the best candidate but he is at this moment deeply grieving his son. That both these two intentions could co-exist in the same time/space.
And here is another thing I have never explicitly said on TOD, but have nonetheless thought about. VP Biden in the 2012 debate with GOP VP Candidate Ryan, singularly re-energized PBOâs supporters in 2012 and gave us that needed shot in the arm after the MSM made it their business to depress and demoralize us about the “first debate” because they thought that PBO performed poorly and Romney did well. I recall many of us were deflated and pessimistic - and after that VP Debate, I felt that all was right again. We were once again centered, and focused on what we needed to be focused on. Of course, PBO nailed his 2nd and 3rd debates without a glitch, and the rest is history! :) But I will be eternally grateful for all that VP Biden has done. If he decides to run, he will have my full support. I can say that right now.

I just got back from a vacation and I spent a day or so catching up on all that you have posted. I find, when I talked with my friends, that I knew so much more about what went on while I was away, than they do staying here watching TV, reading the papers and magazines. They are always amazed at my “knowledge” of all things political, sports, music, and more. I owe it all to all of you for making me look so good!!

VP Biden is one of the most underrated public speakers on the political spectrum. This man can give a powerful and emotionally resonating speech…Iâm just saying. And what makes it even more poignant is that heâs giving this speech just months after laying to rest his beloved son. With every month that passes, I can see why he was selected (among many) to be PBOâs VP. In my perfect hindsight, I see that none of the other “contenders” could never compete with this man in the running!
Exactly. And as I listened to his speech, I could finally see what his close associates have been saying: he may be exploring the presidency because he is the best candidate but he is at this moment deeply grieving his son. That both these two intentions could co-exist in the same time/space.
And here is another thing I have never explicitly said on TOD, but have nonetheless thought about. VP Biden in the 2012 debate with GOP VP Candidate Ryan, singularly re-energized PBOâs supporters in 2012 and gave us that needed shot in the arm after the MSM made it their business to depress and demoralize us about the “first debate” because they thought that PBO performed poorly and Romney did well. I recall many of us were deflated and pessimistic - and after that VP Debate, I felt that all was right again. We were once again centered, and focused on what we needed to be focused on. Of course, PBO nailed his 2nd and 3rd debates without a glitch, and the rest is history! :) But I will be eternally grateful for all that VP Biden has done. If he decides to run, he will have my full support. I can say that right now.
