Independence reality for Ukraine and Pres Poroshenko is speaking truth about it …
“Military pressure on Ukraine from Russia and the separatists that Moscow supports is likely to last decades and future generations will have to undergo military training, President Petro Poroshenko said on Saturday.
Poroshenko made one of his gloomiest predictions on prospects for peace in his country days before he meets German and French leaders in Berlin for a summit he called to urge them to put pressure on Russia to comply with a 6-month-old peace plan strained by ceasefire violations and shelling.
Poroshenko, speaking at a military rally in Kharkiv region at which he handed over new weapons and equipment to the army, praised Ukrainian forces for combating what he called a “Russian offensive” in the separatist conflict that erupted in the eastern Donbass region in April 2014.
But he saw a possibility of a “large-scale escalation” of military action from Russian-backed separatists around Ukraine’s Independence Day, which falls on Monday.”
Such beautiful people, inside and out. the love they have for each other is evident in every photo. It just occurred to me that the Obamas are going to be amazing grandparents some day. Our president looks very relaxed! I think this is the least interrupted vacation they’ve had on Martha’s vineyard.
In the days before the Obama’s vacation he was looking tired or stressed. I have painted a few portraits of PBO and have noticed when his eyes start looking partly closed it is usually after there has been a difficult battle of wills. He looks rested, refreshed and ready to battle on now. This seems like his first vacation since his presidency that he has not had to start late or leave early due to a crisis.
I noticed that too, Obama Grandmama. I’m so glad he had this uninterrupted time with his family.
You should let us have a peak at your portraits!
Yes We Can
I have been through all the day’s threads, blown away by YOU > zizi2, thank you for your brilliance! Cleaned the house while waiting for y’all to catch up with me here - not really. I saw a notation about an energy forum in LV tomorrow, PBO attending, but for the life of me couldn’t find it again when I went back. Can anyone help with this, please? <3
Found it.
Those girls have brought pride to their parents and our Country. Their behavior, decorum and appearance have represented us well. The critics have found few things negative to report. Oh, I have heard they have not smiled enough, acted bored or wore too short of skirts, but those criticisms could be applied to any teen USA. The prior administration’s daughters’ behavior was really easy to criticize, but any kid can make mistakes as that is how they learn. It has been fun watching them grow into fine young ladies.
Grandmama, the main ones criticizing Malia and Sasha, never had a word to say when the Bush twins were running around getting drunk and doing whatever they wanted to do.
But it sure doesn’t keep the idiots from their protests..
I just went through CNN’s 4-7 P.M. news coverage…CBS, NBC, and ABC’s Nightly news programs….and there was not a single mention of Senator Reid announcing his support of President Obama & the #IranDeal!
I think President Obama should hold a press conference tomorrow with Senator Reid announcing his support for the JPOA to force the issue into the news ether….cutting away from their precious Trump bloviating and putting all D’s on notice…
Mark this date……my newest prediction on the #IranDeal vote…. Sen. McConnell is going to change the vote from a resolution of disapproval (after he realizes he can’t get past the 60 needed for cloture) and switch the vote to a resolution of APPROVAL…and because there are 54 Re-thugs in the Senate they will vote no (only needing a majority) and claim the Senate rejected the JPOA. This will be the new spin…the MSM will buy this hook-line-sinker & once again move the goalposts like the losers they are.
We just need to continue to keep the pressure up on the fence-sitters and guarantee that we prevent more than 3 defections (I’m looking at you Wyden, Booker, Heitkamp, Casey, Cardin…with the slimmest of possibilities that we could get a surprising yes from either Collins or Murkowski) to ensure that President Obama doesn’t have to even lift his veto pen!
As Bob would say #Forward
Yup, you nailed it LP! This is exactly what McConnell will do if he can’t get cloture on a disapproval. BUT it means that there will be no need for a veto, and things can go forward with the UNGA in September. If it has to go to PBO for a veto, it is going to make things very tight at the UN. It would be very nice if this is over before then. While I am more mellow after being away, it still just irritates me to no end that this review is even taking place. When I hear these D senators talk about the difficulty of the decision, I have ZERO sympathy for them. But for those traitorous Ds who signed on to this bill to begin with, they would NOT be in this position. PBO was more than willing to shoulder this alone.
go fedex. go serena.
Good morning amk. Hope you had a fun weekend!
Any word from your birtcertland client?
bbl … sup prep :)
http://www.cleanenergysummit.org/event-information/agenda I am praying this summit is really serious about getting away from fossil fuels, and moving on with losing our worldwide dependence on BigOil. When will we, if we don’t start right NOW??
same old. THIS IS THE HISTORY OF AMERICA.

ST. PAUL MAP SHOWS HOW I-94 CUT THROUGH HEART OF CITY’S AFRICAN-AMERICAN NEIGHBORHOOD
BY AARON RUPAR
TUESDAY, AUGUST 19, 2025
Yesterday, we told you about the map cartographer Geoff Maas put together showing howMinneapolis’s interstate highways cut through what were (and to a large extent still are) some of the city’s poorest neighborhoods.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act, Maas recently gave St. Paul the same treatment. As you’d probably expect, the same conclusions hold true, though the severing of St. Paul’s Rondo neighborhood provides perhaps the starkest example of how interstates disproportionately affected poor (and often minority) Twin Cities communities
……………………..
In the 1930s, Rondo Avenue was at the heart of St. Paul’s largest African American neighborhood that was displaced in the 1960s by freeway construction. African Americans whose families had lived in Minnesota for decades and others who were just arriving from the South made up a vibrant, vital community that was in many ways independent of the white society around it. The construction of I-94 shattered this tight-knit community, displaced thousands of African Americans into a racially segregated city and a discriminatory housing market, and erased a now-legendary neighborhood. While the construction of I-94 radically changed the landscape of the neighborhood, the community of Rondo still exists and its persistence and growth are celebrated through events like Rondo Days and the Jazz Festival.

YES!!! All over the nation, this is the story. So easy to see in New Orleans with Interstate 10 freeway; in Austin, Texas, in Durham NC with the #147 cutting off Historic Hayti and NC Central University from the city of Durham; in High Point NC, Kivett Drive Extension killing Washington Street historically black business district; Greensboro NC with Highway 29-70 cutting right through NC A&T State University campus. Never admitted or specified, but there it is, over and over again. Along with location of landfills, waste facilities, animal control, vs. locations of parks, recreational facilities, and more. Nobody in power said admitted this, but it’s starkly clear, all over the country; and still happening today. I look forward to reading this story; thank you for it, rikyrah.
The same in SoCal, Interstate 10 from downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica, many AA’s who owned large homes were taken by eminent domain and were not given proper monetary compensation for these homes. Fast forward to 2015 and the wealthy and middle class white folks in South Pasadena has prevented the continuation of interstate 710 for over 30 years.
This happened in Jacksonville, Florida as well. A-A’s owned large homes in a beautiful area and were displaced by hospitals and I-95.
Still another beauty, NerdyWonka; you keep on seeking out and sharing the best, the most important, the essential for TOD family. Don’t know how but so glad you do.
I’m not even halfway through today’s posts and I have to go out,
Welcome home Ms Chips, thank you Nerdy Wonka & Zizi - fabulous posts today.
I’m thinking that all of PBOs rallies had a speaker and listeners full of happiness and love - while the GOP rallies are quite the opposite. Hatred wins nothing.
:)
If Sen. Reid had said no, every one of the news would have open with that story. Here’s TeaNN headline……Breaking News.
So true bella!
as usual, you bring the fabulousness, NW :)
Thanks, Rikyrah.
We should all give thanks to Donald Trump’s reality-TV-show run for the Republican presidential nomination because of what it reveals about his fan base.
Assuming Trump’s supporters have actually listened to what the narcissistic real estate developer has been saying, what they want is multiple ground wars, an America that steals from other countries, an America that kills people because of their religion, and a massive police state constantly checking people (especially Hispanics and Latinos) to determine whether they’re undocumented and should be arrested and deported, and even have their citizenship taken away.

Linda,
What a treat! Thank you.
POTUS goes to Las Vegas tomorrow. Do anyone know when POTUS will be speaking tomorrow?
I’ve looked around to see if Count von Knoller would have the specifics but haven’t found his tweet on the topic.
Look at our gorgeous First Family! I’m so glad they got to enjoy their full vacation this time.
Here in Salem, Oregon the wind has shifted and we are getting air from the Pacific Ocean instead of the forest fires in Washington. So for the moment we can breathe air without smoke again.
Wow! Take care, Bill!
Our beautiful First Family is such a beautiful blessing. HZ
As are you, HZ.
And goodnight, TODville!
Uh oh SoCal TOD’ers this could happen to us when we get together. :) :) :)
:(…THE CONDUCTOR ON THE WIINE TRAIN NEEDS A KICK IN THE CABOOSE!
Beltway people are “funny” and can easily lie with a straight face;
I have heard something which made me stop and say: hah? does the beltway really think ordinary people are that stupid.
Apparently, many must be freaking out given all reports claiming that VP Joe is giving the possibility of a presidential run some very serious consideration;
So now the new line of “advise” they are sprouting is that:
=> VP should postpone his consideration about his decision until such a time when he can see whether or not the email-server crap sticks then he can “come in as the Dem Savior”; Otherwise were he to jump into the race at the end of summer (as he promised to give his decision either way) then Dems will be “angry with him that he acted as a spoiler”.
Please be on the look out for this nonsense.
I already heard the usual claim that it was said by “some prominent Dem strategist” - you know “the one” who is repeatedly quoted when they want to undermine PBO;
Then I saw a segment of Up on MSNBC in which Ed Rendell is making the same argument (without host disclosing his closeness to the leading candidate);
I also paused and remembered that just a few weeks ago, these same people were saying that VP should not get in the race “because its already too late”;
so which is it I wonder, too early or too late?
It’s 9pm and I’m just getting home from a wonderful get together with MtMarilyn, her husband, a friend of theirs, and Tally & JoJo.
So nice to meet good people!
Picture tomorrow.
GGail did you see where they put those AA ladies off a Napa Wine Country train? We better watch ourselves when TOD gets together, we might get ejected from a restaurant.
I thought about us when I read that story. I am so appalled. You 2 ladies are the best and then there’s Tally, she’s in a category all by herself. Tonight was so special!
I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there but my sister and her hubby are visiting from Canada. On top of that my house was broken into 2x this past month and my new laptop was stolen. It was my husband’s gift for my 60 th birthday. So depressing…
Some great summer music to celebrate the First Family’s return home.
Found this terrific remix of the Clean Bandit song. No fish market scenes like in the original. đźŠ
I really like this remix, Dudette. Thank you!!!
good night TOD
Glad you enjoyed it Bob! Rest well! âşď¸Ź
We had a wonderful time meeting MtMarilyn, her husband and friend. We were well behaved and did not get too loud until everyone in our area had left. Marilyn and her husband are just so wonderful and I look forward to adding her friend to our SoCal meet ups in the future. We’re already talking about a road trip to Montana and if we see Dick Cheney we’re gonna run him over. :) :) :)
Bless you jojo - what a thought :)
Awww! You’ve gotta see this! So sweet!
