Executive Summary (Ha!): He is doing superbly, already regaining his strength after a gruesome operation! God is good.
The back story:
He had his surgery on Tuesday (I think you read before that his oncologist had declared him cancer free on Monday, when discussing results of brain MRI and full body PET Scan to confirm that, beyond addressing the original lung cancer - yeehaw!).
Because he was quickly able to manage his pain, he was discharged late afternoon on Wednesday! Slept very well last night, and had a first daily visit from his home health nurse today - to repack the dressing after the Eloesser Flap he had on Tuesday). (It’s a teaching hospital, so we have photos of the five students who watched them clean the wound yesterday in his hospital room - and he said at the operation itself, it was a packed house in the O.R.)
Instead of going back in a month for the final surgery and to be worked on by the plastic surgeon, that actually will be handled in six months. So, it’s quite the ordeal.
We’re pretty much overjoyed.
This is all fabulous news, Jacqueline. Thank you so much for sharing all the details, and for the fun way you express them!!!! Could not be more pleased for your son or you.
