House Speaker John Boehner shocked the political world by announcing his resignation from Congress.
In the short term the Very Smart People say this means he can pass a Continuing Resolution with mostly Democratic votes, as he gives the finger to the Brownshirt Caucus.
In the long term? Who will the GOP rally around as Speaker? The fact is, every other House leader is worse than Mr. Boehner ideologically. I joked that I looked forward to Speaker Louie Gohmert. But that’s a jest with a barb of truth in it.
Encomiums are pouring in, lamenting that the ideologues got their scalp. Senator Harry Reid called Mr. Boehner a “compromiser”. I know there’s a lot of back scratching in DC, but this beggars belief. Mr. Boehner was a compromiser only when he had no options left and had to shuffle hat in hand to Nancy Pelosi to prevent the country from imploding. He was, quite frankly, the most incompetent Speaker in modern history. And now his incompetence may usher in a replacement who will give the Right what it wants: full out war against President Obama and Democrats.
Hold on to your hats. As the kids say, shit just got real.

Hi, Bye. a la unohoo.
Toodley-oodely! Come back soon, y’hear!!!
And yet another :star:, for the :star: :)
Congrats for the Gold Medal on such an important day!
Congrats Amk on your Au FURST :star: ;)
LL……Sir, I love your piece. If only Boehner is a true Leader? You nailed it!
IMHO, Speaker Boehner is the WORST Speaker in US history.
LIVE NOW: Vice President Biden/Secretary of State Kerry Participate in a State Luncheon with President Xi.
How sweet
Fucking incompetent coward.
Self-centered crybaby showboater.
And this!
This!
Their work goes on!
Pres Obama always ever so Gracious. Mr. Boehner deserves…….None.
Always gracious!
Always! What a role model he is.
The snake, former Ambassador Jon Huntsman, that left his important post to challenge his boss is at the luncheon with VPOTUS, SOS, and President Xi. He should have been banned from the WH and any other governmental functions.
Ugh! Maybe in his time there as Ambassador he struck up a cordial relationship with Mr. Xi.
I think you might consider dialing back some of your outrage against Gov. Jon Huntsman. He never ever did or said anything negative against president Obama.
I’m also pretty certain that president elect Obama was advised by his top aides that it would be wise to politically handicap Jon Huntsman by offering him the ambassadors job. Jon was under no obligation to accept however he did, for president and country.
Jon is an honorable man, goggle his political career.
Hunstman is a dying breed, or extinct, moderate republican.
Thanks a mill LL!!!!
President Obama Speaks (2:30 EDT) at a Ceremony in Honor of General Martin Dempsey - Streaming has started
Oh how I love military ceremonial honors, especially with this President on board!
Typically, Fridays as far as News is concerned were days for News Dumps.
Not Today, Sept 25th, 2015.
What a Newsy Busy Autumn Day ;)
Chuckie and his goatie beard was chief among them. Next comes Morning Joke.
Heard Bob Ney on Tom Hartmann’s show. Following is what he said happened according to a number of his (good) sources on Capitol Hill. A deal was agreed to two weeks ago with Boehner and the Patriot Caucus/conservative wing/TP group that he would resign so as not to be voted out. Big part of the deal was that he would not announce it until after the Pope had been in DC. Tom asked about his also resigning from Congress and not just as Speaker. Ney talked a some length about some personal experiences he had w/Boehner…….how brazen he was (he used that word twice and said he was THE most extreme brazen politician he had ever met), how crooked he was, how he had done illigal things a number of times. He also talked about how much he was disliked or purely hated by many R’s, not just in DC, but all over the country……how many enemies he had. So, his guess is that Boehner knew once he left that seat of power, the knives would be out for him and he better get out “while the gettings good.”
For what it’s worth-a ‘take’ from someone who was once an insider and still has many good contacts.
Pot meet kettle ?
Bob Ney was in Federal prison for his corruption while in Congress. He was involved in the Abramoff scandal.
Yes, that’s right. I read his book this past spring. Revealed a lot of “interesting” things, to say the least. He knows where a lot of bodies are buried.
Also, the two of them discussed possible replacements. Bob Ney said his info has four people on the list: K. Mccarthy, S. Scalise, Joe Barton (think that’s right) and I don’t remember the fourth. (I was in the car.) Bob Ney said IF it’s Mccarthy, a “moderate” there will be demands on top of demands on him. He thinks more likely to be the Joe guy. Wish I could remember the last name for sure, but think it is Barton. Except for Mccarthy who is considered a “moderate”, rest are TP wingnuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
holyfuckingshit
I could have used one of these all week ;)

Heads up

I honestly believe Boehner didn’t have anything to do with the Pope speaking to Congress. The Pope wanted to visit Barack Obama, President and he decided to accept Boehner’s invitation because “why not, I’m in town”.
Love this Tweet. Thanks Nerdy. :-)
The President has arrived at the ceremony in honor of Gen. Dempsey.
Please rise.
:)
Also being shown on C-Span2 TV.
The President is having humorous side chats with Gen. Dempsey and SECDEF Carter. It appears the Prez is chewing gum.
GOP heads will roll.
Yay!
Sorry, I’m totally giddy after this week of weeks! Here’s the result. You may be seated now.

A Pope, a U.S. President, the President of China, and a General walk into a bar. Behind the bar is John, son of Boehner.
The Pope asks for vino Argentino, and John the son complies.
The U.S. President asks for White House beer, and John the son complies.
The President of China asks for a glass of baijiu, and John the son complies.
The General says “WTF are we doing here?” and John the son cries.
The General says, “Oh, Boehner’s retirement happy hour. Got it. Game of darts, anyone?”
Love it! :-D :-D :-D
Ha! Finally got control of myself. More or less. :)
