I just canât get over how beautiful, youthful. and joyful she looks. The First lady mold had been broken long ago by MO, but tonight it has shattered into a million little pieces. Her kindness, loving open heart, brilliance and joie de vivre shine from her eyes and light up her very being. BO is a lucky man and we are a blessed nation.

TOD educates :) During the 2008 election campaign I decided I just had to understand the US electoral/government system. Has taken quite a time to learn. I now have the status among friends/family that what I say - goes - no arguments as to anything good about republicans. :)
When I was in the states moons ago - the only news from outside of the US related to the USSR. Most people I met thought I came from England - many had never heard of Australia.
Major reason why so many in the US are ignorant about the world - the US media.
Hear, Hear, 99ts. I grew up in the DC area, moved to Canada in my late teens and started to see stories that got me to thinking. Years later, off to NZ, and then to Australia, and by then understood I would never hear these points of view inside the US of A. On visits back, tried to explain this to my family, only one of whom has ever left the US, except to visit in Canada. Amazing. Just amazing how limited the scope of awareness is over here. Sad too, but the Internet is changing that, and fast!

I could never understand the US fascination with the USSR but after the past few years of learning it seems to relate to needing an enemy. Too many seem to need a “bogey man” to hate. When the USSR disintegrated they turned to the countries of the middle east. Just sad.
