NW, here is a great and hilarious recap of the PBO encounter with the bride and groom from the blog of the wedding photographers who were there to photograph the wedding. And there’s more candid pictures from the encounter. She sounds like an Obot to me and they LOVE Pete !

What a fabulous, fact-filled collection of tweets! Love the one with Clint Eastwood introducing the next Speaker!

Nerdy, you attended UT Austin, did you study with that professor who’s leaving over open carry?

Of course I ended up leaving this at the end of the last thread, so I’ll bring it here:

Want to send a belated thank you to Nerdy Wonka for those awesome tweets re the 60 minutes interview yesterday and for keeping TOD afloat on Danny’s vet day.

Did I miss anything? Has Chips shared any news about Danny’s vet visit?

      You’re welcome, MadameSoph.

He’s a well liked professor and it’s a shame to see him leave due to the stupidity and dangerous laws brought forward by Republican legislators and applauded by the Governor. I know some professors have begun protesting and holding forums against this insane law.

Hello Chips! How is the good boy doing?!? Have you gotten him from the vet’s yet?

      • October 12, 2025 at 9:12 pm

        Hellooooooo Hopefruit!!

Well, that was a weird day, the longest the Danster and myself have ever been apart - I will never forget the sad and freaked look he gave me as I walked out the door of the vets and left him there

The good news - the x-rays showed no breaks or fractures, but there’s a teeny tendon problem on his shoulder which he’s on medication for now. The crappy news - if that medication doesn’t work, he’ll need a steroid injection, which means he wouldn’t be allowed proper exercise for ….. six weeks.

He. Will. Go. Out. Of. His. Mind.

So, I’ve found God - I’m praying so hard that the medication will work, God is exhausted from listening to me.

Meanwhile, the sedation is finally wearing off and he’s busy shredding his new purple rhino :???:

          Oh {{{{{{{Chips and Danny}}}}}}}

At least you know what it is, finally. Tendons and such need rest of heal. I’ve been through this, and went through it recently with Kasper. We had to carry him up and down the stairs for a month. He wasn’t any too happy. But it’s the only way they heal.

Each vet is different. I don’t ever remember hearing that it’s the cortisone that requires rest. Although it could be that the pain goes away from the cortisone, Danny thinks he’s just fine, and starts bounding around and doesn’t let the tendon heal. I love when they give you that look, “I’m just a dog. I don’t understand that staying quiet will make me heal.” Dogspeak, when it’s convenient.

It’s a delicate balance. You want to alleviate the pain, but then they get stupid and want to run everywhere.

You’ll get through this. All will be well.

          Hugs to both of you.

          • October 13, 2025 at 12:00 pm

{{{{{{57}}}}}} When they said he might need six weeks’ rest, I almost cried! How on earth do you deprive a dog with that much energy of exercise for that long?? He would end up SO depressed. If it comes to it, I’m going to be pestering you for advice! But hoping and praying the medication works.

              October 13, 2025 at 4:22 pm

Chips, you think it’s impossible but it’s necessary and you get through it. If not, he keeps re-injuring himself and it could become irreparable. You don’t want that. A lot of it is what they sense from you: if you don’t feed the “I feel so bad for you”, they accept. I’ve been through disc problems, tendons, heartworm treatment that all require rest. A month now may save a lifetime of pain or crippling. I’m hoping and praying with you that the meds do the job. You’ll weather it all.

              • October 13, 2025 at 4:29 pm

I know 57, you’re right, it was just in my innocence I assumed, with all these wonderful advances, they’d have a magical fix - so the six week thing came as a shock. They’re not really that hopeful about the medication working, so I’ve a feeling the six week nightmare will become a reality. If it has to be done, it has to be done, but my heart will break for him!

Funny, “no brains” is how I will think of any candidate that thinks “distancing” from PBO is any kind of a good idea. How can we trust foreign policy negotiations, domestic policy or any other decisions to someone who is that out of touch with reality and (the majority of) the people?

Not since January 2009! I traveled quite a bit during the Bush years and flew to Italy on Inauguration day after watching PBO being sworn in :-) I’ll never forget how proud I was to travel as an American that day, and what a contrast to how I felt during Bush/Cheney!

Same here! During the Bush/Cheney years, I let folks think I was either the Islands… Week after the ’08 election AND week after the Inauguration, I traveled abroad on Jazz cruises, proudly sporting my Obama lapel pins and buttons. Those buttons were better than cash — made some fantastic trades. The WORLD celebrated our wise choice!

Is Deray as naive as he seems to be here? I find this gullibility almost disturbing - if he is in fact being sincere with Snowjob….

    • 97 Madamesoph
      October 12, 2025 at 10:18 pm

Inorite? Snowden wasn’t worried about the “government” until PBO came into office. Does Deray know Snowden is a gun nut?

From an article in the Guardian (which I normally don’t click on, but I’m in a hurry):

For example, he [Snowden] was offended by the possibility that the new president would revive a ban on assault weapons. “See, that’s why I’m goddamned glad for the second amendment,” Snowden wrote, in another chat. “Me and all my lunatic, gun-toting NRA compatriots would be on the steps of Congress before the C-Span feed finished.”

Imagine if those gun-toting compatriots were Deray and his activists…. yeah, right.

Too bad. I saw him on the Nightly Show panel the other night and I was impressed with him in person.

I fry them in a very wide pan first and then pour the egg mixture over them for a super thin tortilla/omelette, and I also like it browned on the bottom. Here is José Andrés, making his version:
