I loved him in “A Colbert Christmas” from 2008.
Congrats Allison!
NW, here is a great and hilarious recap of the PBO encounter with the bride and groom from the blog of the wedding photographers who were there to photograph the wedding. And there’s more candid pictures from the encounter. She sounds like an Obot to me and they LOVE Pete !
http://theyoungrens.com/blog/casa_de_youngren/the-day-we-met-the-president-the-lodge-at-torrey-pines-wedding/
Hey there PSLA!!!! <3
I bet that couple will never ever top their encounter with PBO on their wedding day! I'm glad he took the time to make their day even more special.
GG! How u be girl? I do so love my President…. He is a class act x a million  I am soooo ready for this Hot weather to GO AWAY NOW please. I’m praying to the weather gods, it will cool back down for Poe in a couple of weeks so that we’re all not sweltering outside in the botanical gardens AND that the day AFTER Poe, El Nino sweeps in with rain, rain, rain… C U all soon!
Hugs!
That’s awesome. Thanks, purpleshoesla!
yep, she is definitely an Obot!
thanks for finding and sharing this - I enjoyed the excitement and respect of the whole group and how they all appreciated what a unique opportunity they had received to meet and share time with PBO
Wow and Wow - thanks so much purpleshoesla - what a day for that couple - fabulous pictures - and what a man is PBO - A day off - and he shares it with so many people. Never in my lifetime - never ever ever can he be replaced.
Amazing story, they will cherish for the rest of their lives. We really do have the Coolest President Ever!
Gotta love it!! <3 :bear:
great that PBO took some time out of his day to make their wedding day even more special.
thanks for sharing

What a fabulous, fact-filled collection of tweets! Love the one with Clint Eastwood introducing the next Speaker!
Nerdy, you attended UT Austin, did you study with that professor who’s leaving over open carry?
Of course I ended up leaving this at the end of the last thread, so I’ll bring it here:
Want to send a belated thank you to Nerdy Wonka for those awesome tweets re the 60 minutes interview yesterday and for keeping TOD afloat on Danny’s vet day.
Did I miss anything? Has Chips shared any news about Danny’s vet visit?
You’re welcome, MadameSoph.
He’s a well liked professor and it’s a shame to see him leave due to the stupidity and dangerous laws brought forward by Republican legislators and applauded by the Governor. I know some professors have begun protesting and holding forums against this insane law.
A wondrous compilation Nerdy, gigantic thanks for finding these gems.
Hello Chips! How is the good boy doing?!? Have you gotten him from the vet’s yet?
Hellooooooo Hopefruit!!
Well, that was a weird day, the longest the Danster and myself have ever been apart - I will never forget the sad and freaked look he gave me as I walked out the door of the vets and left him there
The good news - the x-rays showed no breaks or fractures, but there’s a teeny tendon problem on his shoulder which he’s on medication for now. The crappy news - if that medication doesn’t work, he’ll need a steroid injection, which means he wouldn’t be allowed proper exercise for ….. six weeks.
He. Will. Go. Out. Of. His. Mind.
So, I’ve found God - I’m praying so hard that the medication will work, God is exhausted from listening to me.
Meanwhile, the sedation is finally wearing off and he’s busy shredding his new purple rhino :???:
you do take lousiest of pics. sheesh.
When you take a Souza-esque pic of a Labrador just coming to from sedation and setting about mangling his purple rhino, talk to me. Until then, zip it! :-)
sure, blame it on the poor guy.
Thanks for the update Chips. You’ve both been through a LOT today! I’m sure that Danny’s probably just content to be back home with you and in familiar surroundings - even as he’s a bit subdued from the medication. :) Glad that there are no broken bones or fractures. Let’s hope that the medication will work and that the worst is over! {{{{Chips}}}}} {{{{Danny}}}}
SPEEDY recovery, Danny Boy!! Make your mum proud!!
Aw, look at that sweet baby! Relieved to hear it’s not worse; at least no fracture and no surgery.
Hope he gets better soon and doesn’t drive Mama crazy in the meantime. :-)
Yay! Thanks for the update Chips! Again, prayers and best wishes from our house for Danny’s full recovery! Please give him an extra kiss from us! >^..^<
A gigantic slurpy Danny kiss back at ya, Madamesoph - thank you, you lovely person!
:-) Prego, Chips. I will share the slurpy Danny kiss with the kitties >^..^<
Prayers or a speedy recovery for YOU and Danny! You’re in my prayers!
{{{{{ DannyO’Stix }}}}} Chew on, DannyBoy, you are loved!! Woof! Hang in there, Chipsticks, dear one, having a beloved pet is just like being a parent, sometimes we suffer with them, and that’s all we can do. <3
Thanks Chips for the update on Dannysticks. You know the TOD prayer warriors will be sending special doggie prayers for the medication to work and Danny can get back to jumping into rivers and carrying small trees in his mouth on your daily walks/runs.
Oh {{{{{{{Chips and Danny}}}}}}}
At least you know what it is, finally. Tendons and such need rest of heal. I’ve been through this, and went through it recently with Kasper. We had to carry him up and down the stairs for a month. He wasn’t any too happy. But it’s the only way they heal.
Each vet is different. I don’t ever remember hearing that it’s the cortisone that requires rest. Although it could be that the pain goes away from the cortisone, Danny thinks he’s just fine, and starts bounding around and doesn’t let the tendon heal. I love when they give you that look, “I’m just a dog. I don’t understand that staying quiet will make me heal.” Dogspeak, when it’s convenient.
It’s a delicate balance. You want to alleviate the pain, but then they get stupid and want to run everywhere.
You’ll get through this. All will be well.
Hugs to both of you.
{{{{{{57}}}}}} When they said he might need six weeks’ rest, I almost cried! How on earth do you deprive a dog with that much energy of exercise for that long?? He would end up SO depressed. If it comes to it, I’m going to be pestering you for advice! But hoping and praying the medication works.
Chips, you think it’s impossible but it’s necessary and you get through it. If not, he keeps re-injuring himself and it could become irreparable. You don’t want that. A lot of it is what they sense from you: if you don’t feed the “I feel so bad for you”, they accept. I’ve been through disc problems, tendons, heartworm treatment that all require rest. A month now may save a lifetime of pain or crippling. I’m hoping and praying with you that the meds do the job. You’ll weather it all.
I know 57, you’re right, it was just in my innocence I assumed, with all these wonderful advances, they’d have a magical fix - so the six week thing came as a shock. They’re not really that hopeful about the medication working, so I’ve a feeling the six week nightmare will become a reality. If it has to be done, it has to be done, but my heart will break for him!
Look at Danny.
I am crossing my finger and hoping Chips, that Danny does well with the Medication.
Be well, Danny’O. {{{{ Danny <3 Chips }}}}
Waving from MN ;)
Thank you soooooooooo much {{Nena}}!!!!
You’re welcome, Chips. Wishing all the best to you and Danny.
Pretty much what we TODers have been saying….it’s a no-brainer.
Funny, “no brains” is how I will think of any candidate that thinks “distancing” from PBO is any kind of a good idea. How can we trust foreign policy negotiations, domestic policy or any other decisions to someone who is that out of touch with reality and (the majority of) the people?
For real tho’
Actually, I think UT Austin Professor Dan Hamermesh should receive a Profiles in Courage award.
Hey JOBomer, do you know if Nerdy has mentioned studying with or knowing of Professor Hamermesh while she was at UT Austin?
No, I haven’t - but I always think of her when I see UT Austin mentioned!
HA! - This is toooooo good… :)
NW, thanks a MILLION for this round-up.
I would never teach in a school that allowed guns. I don’t blame that professor for leaving. Think of all he gave up.
A Big Fat Hardy Congratulation to you two, soon to be three. :)
Aw! That’s so sweet. Happy for them!
Mazel Tov!
Oh, that is so sweet.
Congratulations! <3 <3 <3
And a Baby makes 3 ;)
Thanks for sharing, Allison. Came here to post this article; glad I refreshed first!
For our TOD Halloween party, I’m coming as Brother #FeelTheBern Sanders. Just an early heads-up.
Also this year, folks can chose their own costumes if they wish. I’m happy to provide lists with suggestions, of course, but there’s also the option of having you decide whatever/whomever you want to dress up as on that special day! :) (To be discussed further in coming weeks):
OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hopefruit! I almost forgot…I don’t know why, we have the BEST time for our Halloween parties, don’t we? I don’t want to pick…I want to be surprised:) I’ll be whoever someone wants me to be….You be Bernie:)
“You be Bernie:)”
You’re evuuuuuuuuul!
Am not! She said she wanted to be Bernie…I was just agreeing with her:)
I’ll find you a great costume Df - don’t you worry! :) Ha…
Should I be afraid????:) :)
Nah…just excited :) Heh..
Well, let me just say I’ve been Tweedy and Mrs Greenspan already….
Good to know…you won’t have to worry about repeat of costumes this year! :)
Obama. #dibs
You’re coming as PBO? Okaaaaaaaaaaaay then….
Oh dear, oh dear. Does this mean I have to catch up on all current affairs (not the illicit kind) before today and the 31st? *Sighs. *Sighs again. ;)
May I be Sunny? We rarely see Sunny and her photos are rare. She rarely speaks and no one notices when she does.
THIS!
Wynn is a staunch GOPer.
It was his wife, who fund raised and supported then Sen Obama……and Later, Pres Obama.
Not since January 2009! I traveled quite a bit during the Bush years and flew to Italy on Inauguration day after watching PBO being sworn in :-) I’ll never forget how proud I was to travel as an American that day, and what a contrast to how I felt during Bush/Cheney!
Same here! During the Bush/Cheney years, I let folks think I was either the Islands… Week after the ’08 election AND week after the Inauguration, I traveled abroad on Jazz cruises, proudly sporting my Obama lapel pins and buttons. Those buttons were better than cash — made some fantastic trades. The WORLD celebrated our wise choice!
I kept all of my buttons :-) (still have one of my ‘o8 ones hanging from my rear view mirror), but I brought some of my stack of commemorative “Yes We Did” stickers to my friend in Italy and brought back a newspaper from Inauguration Day in Italian :-) still have it!
Not me.
I have traveled outside US, Twice since Pres Obama……and Once during GW Bush.
The Travels since 2009 were much pleasant than the one time during Bush.
Please, please, please! :-) With Governor Brown on a roll, this is all that we would need to make California a paradise again!
Have to wonder why they didn’t start on desalinization plants years ago, might be operational now, when the situation is dire. Anyway. Gotta go. Nitey nite TOD, big hugs all around. <3
Chipster…my love and good wishes/fingers and toes crossed for D-man to be alright. I must be living in a cave or something because I didn’t know that anything was wrong with him…I asked about it this morning when you mentioned the vets and an xray…but no one answered my question…so I continued to be clueless… Hope that all is well…give him love and hugs…how did that happen, anyway?
Is Deray as naive as he seems to be here? I find this gullibility almost disturbing - if he is in fact being sincere with Snowjob….
Inorite? Snowden wasn’t worried about the “government” until PBO came into office. Does Deray know Snowden is a gun nut?
From an article in the Guardian (which I normally don’t click on, but I’m in a hurry):
For example, he [Snowden] was offended by the possibility that the new president would revive a ban on assault weapons. “See, that’s why I’m goddamned glad for the second amendment,” Snowden wrote, in another chat. “Me and all my lunatic, gun-toting NRA compatriots would be on the steps of Congress before the C-Span feed finished.”
Imagine if those gun-toting compatriots were Deray and his activists…. yeah, right.
Too bad. I saw him on the Nightly Show panel the other night and I was impressed with him in person.
I agree with CarolMae - think it was snark - tag needed for such things.
It was sarcasm IMHO.
He is an educator. He taught for many years in MN.
We have our shares of fools.
I am choosing to believe that @deray is being Sarcastic here.
Hay our AG is running for Governor, I think Roy Cooper can defeat the Republican in office now.
O.k. off to make some dinner. I’m making a tortilla de patata tonight, one of my faves. I use frozen french fries usually, to save time. I fry them in a very wide pan first and then pour the egg mixture over them for a super thin tortilla/omelette, and I also like it browned on the bottom. Here is José Andrés, making his version:
Night all…been a day:)
Sweet dreams, when you get there!
Sweet dreams, df. I’ll be heading to “lala” land soon too.
Why am I not surprised?
What get me is that CBS which is “suppose” to be mainstream as a national network hires a rightwing hack to give analysis and opinion. They don’t even bother to give the impression of being non partisan any longer.
Paul Krugman has the best description of Ryan in the NYT - I would suggest if he takes on the job he won’t last 3 months. He couldn’t even do the job of VP nominee without collapsing about day 3 when the questions got past “what is your name”
Cubs defeated Cardinals 8-6 tonight.
Sorry but Deray is fast losing credibility with me…faster than I’m comfortable enough to acknowledge.
For me, it’s a banana popsicle, but, hey.
New post.
