Good photo - I know virtually nothing about the man - then again in 2007 I knew nothing about PBO

Thanks pf - I’ll keep learning about him. I was impressed with Hillary at the Benghazi!! event but I don’t think the US needs family dynasties and I’m still confused why she wants the job - she will need a super super majority to get anything done.

Roman Catholic bishops have finished an often fractious synod on the family by reaching a compromise on divisive issues.

Doctrine towards divorcees has been softened but there is no change in the church’s stance on homosexuality.

In comments afterwards, Pope Francis appeared to criticise conservative bishops.

The church, he said, should confront difficult issues “fearlessly, without burying our heads in the sand”.

At the synod, the name given to the meeting of Roman Catholic leaders, bishops voted on 94 articles dealing with how the church treats the family.

The most contentious, dealing with whether divorced and remarried believers should be allowed to play a full role in the church, only just passed.

The approved text calls for a case-by-case approach.

It also reiterates church teaching that homosexuals should not be discriminated against but said there were “absolutely no grounds” for gay marriage.

In his summary of the three-week gathering, Pope Francis said he wanted it to be about “listening to and making heard the voices of the families”.

But he said the synod had “laid bare the closed hearts which frequently hide even behind the Church’s teachings or good intentions”, remarks seen as an attack on conservatives.

but he challenged the notion that these issues were un-challengable…and for that i thank him…he made room for dissent….

this notion that divorced folks are not in a state of grace …so that they cannot not receive communion is bogus…no one can tell if a person is in a state of grace seeing as no one can know what God has bestowed on a person…

i read a some of this amk…i did not see if there was any move towards ordaining women

i can accept it…it is accepting of the President and then tries to move pass him without taking a swipe….i can live with that

I caught part of Martin’s speech. Other than his stand on TPP he’s my guy now that Joe is out. He did not have nearly as many supporters there as Hillary has there. I missed Bernie’s speech. Listening to Hillary now give applause lines for PBO and VP. I am glad she is recognizing their work.

Got delayed in finishing watching MO’M’s speech, but am working my way through the recording now. At first - MOSTLY BECAUSE THE MAN ACTUALLY KNOWS HOW TO USE A MICROPHONE, IN THAT YOU DON’T HAVE TO SCREAM INTO IT - I was getting pulled in a bit more than usual (read: trying to allow myself that, to give him a “fair” - Ha! - shot). But there are too many “we need to start today” lines before saying things that President Obama has already been working for … and he’s against TPP … and I really don’t think I have enough of an interest to watch any more of the dinner.

Hey, I gave it a shot!

Re tonight from the tso.co page: Al Giordano The short version: Clinton held her own. Bernie had a disastrous night. And O’Malley is squarely in play now in a way he wasn’t yet before this to supplant Sanders as the alternative.

Couple of interesting tweets from him 4more …

I’m just now able to begin to focus on what was said. I will waste no time on Bernie.

Am very interested in hearing exactly what Gov O’Malley said, but am much more interested in what he and his team do in the next few days/weeks. HRC’s totally predictable focus on herself is a grave mistake:

Just wish, at this point, Ms Jarrett was able to join MOM’s campaign full time like she did for Senator Obama in the Fall of 2007!!!

bob, i’m getting despondent, for real. i first remember “hillary is inevitable” talk as early as 2000. president obama squashed that in 2008 and i thought it was over. now after all these years, the “inevitable” stuff is back, and using money collected from rupert murdoch and other trickle-downers, the clintons are looking as if it might be the case this time, 15 f-ing years later!!! i’m still hoping for a miracle and that she won’t be the democratic nominee, but it’s getting hard to keep the faith.

          Was just departing, 4more.

Don’t be despondent. I can’t tell you how many wise asses on DK, Dunderground, pundits, know-it-alls …. told me at this time in ’07 that PBO had no chance of even being a contender. His organization at the time was in trouble. Rep Lewis had endorsed HRC. She had all the big $$s ……

          We know the outcome.

If MOM wants it badly enough he can beat her. I have every intention of supporting him to the fullest.

Now, I’ve got to get a bit of sleep :)

i see that #hillaryman up in here above with some tweets (linked, i know…). this is the same guy who recently wrote this on al giordano’s blog:

“Tom Watson Hey, I’m fired up, ready to go - the true 21st candidate is on the march and she’s doing it herself, on the stage. #brilliant”

hillary herself (brushing off her shoulders, which was so contrived and fake) and now her minions such as this guy are all stealing president obama’s stuff, yet giving him little credit for anything! f- these ungrateful rupert murdoch-friending corpratists. how in the work is the d.l.c. co-founder/leader fro the 1990s the “true 21st century candidate” after president obama?!?!? these clintonistas are as robotic as any republican. so weird.

this is what i will say…and this will go for myself….i will do my best to stay out of GOTCHA…knee jerk reactions….the two candidates in the race for my consideration are Clinton and OMalley….i will try to keep an open mind…they will never be PBO…that saying…one of them has to win…i will be looking for the candidate who will fulfill the President’s legacy the most….
