Thanks, Df. I think the last line is very telling-it’s too early-and anything can happen in the next year. The thing about these R candidates is that they don’t improve on long acquaintance. Let’s see how sick the general public gets of them by next year. More debates are not helping them.

I wonder how many times she has said to him: “Boy, stop playing” or “you play too much”? Like a little boy who teases the girl that he really likes, it is clear that he is always messing with her. Just like the little girl in the play yard, she always eventually get him back. I love how, after 20 years of marriage, they can still crack each other up and best of all we have the many photos and videos that prove it.

Morning CEB. How many times have I said those very words about the President teasing the 1st Lady! “Boy stop playin’!” The photo where PBO is smiling and whispering in her ear and she has a shocked look on her face is one of my favorites. I told hubby that the Prez probably said something gross.

Against that backdrop, the most revealing question of the first half of the debate, addressed to Carly Fiorina, posited that Democrats will point out, accurately, that the labor market has performed better in modern times under Democratic presidents than under Republican ones, and that it performed particularly poorly under the previous Republican president.
“The Democrats will inevitably ask you and voters to compare the recent presidents’ jobs performance,” said moderator Gerard Baker. “In seven years under President Obama, the U.S. has added an average of 107,000 jobs per month. Under Clinton, the economy added about 240,000 per month, under George W. Bush, it was only 13,000 a month. If you win the nomination, you will probably be facing a Democrat named Clinton. How are you going to respond to the claim that Democratic presidents are better at creating jobs than Republicans?”
Fiorina, quite tellingly, had no answer.

Morning. I did not have the intestinal fortitude to watch the R debates, but applaud and admire those who did. Frankly, I’m looking forward to this year’s State of the Union-sadly PBO’s last-because it will be the perfect opportunity to lay out the truth about the growth of the economy and America’s standing in the world. I hope it’s a blockbuster and draws a huge audience. Then all of us, from the D candidates at every level to the lowliest door knocker, have to march forward with those facts and use them in every encounter with the ignorant and misinformed. There are lots of R supporters who choose to live in a world of delusion, but we don’t have to make it easy for them.

Good morning, and a special Veterans’ day to all. My husband was a veteran….served in Korea, then served twenty years in the Air National Guard……which is why I have the wonderful Tricare for Life health insurance. Today I am going to a lunch and memorial ceremony for the Gray Eagles (retired society) who died this year. This is something I want to do, and am doing with great pride for my husband, but it is also an event that I know will evoke tears and heartache. So, my simple request is that you think of me around noon wherever you are, that I will have the strength and courage to represent him with honor. I will be seeing people he served with for twenty years and people who knew and loved him. I don’t know what to expect, but am proud to do this for him.
Carolyn, I know you’ll be given the strength you need and that the thoughts and prayers of all who love and admire you will be with you. Your attending this event is a magnificent expression of love and I truly admire you for it. By the way, it’s okay to cry-it shows we’re human.
yes we will be with you carolyn and so will your husband…you will be among people who loved and honored him as well…best to you….i hope that you have a very special day

I read that after the “debate” last night, Hillary Clinton said, “I’m proud to be a Democrat.” I have to agree with that one-it would truly shame me to be associated with a group of nitwits and sociopaths.
While we honor all veterans today, I’d like to give a special tribute to those few remaining World War II vets who may not see may more of these remembrance days. My MIL was one of the first women in the Navy in WWII and she is very proud of her service. Unfortunately, there are very few left who share her memories. So to veterans very old and very young-Bless You and Thank You.
