That’s the absolute truth, Chips. These tweets lay it all out clearly and simply. The media has no clue what’s going on and so dutifully quote every know-nothing Republican spouting macho bullshit. It’s no wonder Americans are grossly ill-informed.
Congress technically has the power to declare war, but this Congress is so spineless it won’t even pass an authorization of force. Also ISIL isn’t a state, so who would they declare war against? The President is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and is the only one empowered to carry out a war. If the President didn’t think a war was a good idea, I can’t imagine how it would actually happen.
It’s rather hilarious. The “war” would still have to be conducted by the CiC. And they say they don’t “trust” PBO, which is why they won’t actually vote to authorize military force.
