Is there anyone who does NOT like macaroni and cheese? I don’t mean avoiding it for health or weight-control reasons, but genuinely not liking it because you dislike how it tastes….
Only REAL mac & cheese — can’t stand the box stuff! Making M&C for 150 this week; I make folks sign a waiver before they are served it — 5 or 6 different cheeses, lots of butter and cream…
Umm, actually I am one of those people who do not like mac and cheese; but then, I also dislike peanut butter, corn flakes, grits, cornbread, green peas, carrots, quiche, bell peppers and pineapple upside down cake.
Woke up this morning to a power outage. 20 degrees, I know, downright balmy for some of you! Got dressed (quickly) and went out for breakfast across town where they had power. Made a few stops, came home, power just came on, an hour later than was reported. Oh, what I would give to be in Hawaii right now.
The best that can be said is that we’ve gotten this far as America, having faced threats both internal and external, and we should be able to crush these cockroaches come 8 Nov 2025 ….
It’s the “clock kid” all over again: A 12-year-old Sikh boy is the latest victim of racist terrorism paranoia
Imagine that your twelve-year-old son doesn’t come home one day after school. You’re always worried about him because he’s not even a teenager but has already required three open heart surgeries thanks to a congenital condition. He’s not a tough kid but a “goofball,” and you’ve recently moved from San Antonio to Arlington, a suburb of Dallas, Texas, where everything is bigger, including the trouble. Nobody is telling you where he is. Nobody will answer your questions. He’s just…disappeared.
School officials aren’t helping. Neither are the police. Eventually, you discover that he’s being held in a juvenile detention center. He’s born and raised in Texas. An American citizen. A kid.
Why did the Arlington police hold a twelve-year-old boy with a heart condition for three days without alerting his parents? Why did the school principal call the police in the first place?
Because his name is Armaan Singh Sarai, his working-class Indian family is Sikh, and a “bully” at his school accused him of having a bomb in his backpack.
According to a Facebook post by Ginee Haer, who identifies herself as his cousin,
“On Friday, December 11th, 2015, my cousin attended school, like any other normal 12 year old child. A bully in class thought it would be funny to accuse him of having a bomb, and so the principal, without any questioning, interrogation, or notification to his parents, called the police. Worried & frightened at home, his family was concerned as to why he had not reached home right after school. They started calling every police department in the area, only to find out he was sent to a Juvenile facility. They kept him held behind bars for three consecutive days, before finally releasing him on Monday, December 15th.”
Armaan had carried a “power bag” to school, meaning his backpack has a built-in battery charger for a cell phone. Numerous companies sell these bags, which are not cheap but popular enough to be sold out right now in several styles and categories on Amazon. “The student in front of me, who is the one who made the accusation. . . said that [the backpack] looked like a bomb,” [Armaan] Singh said, per a report in the Washington Post. “Then Friday. . . I came back to that period and he was in front of me again and he said ‘I’m going to go tell on you. I’m going to go tell on you and say all this stuff about you. I’m going to go tell on you.’ Singh said he laughed at the other student, who did the same.
But the other student wasn’t joking. He made good on his threat, telling the teacher that Armaan had a bomb. The teacher told the principal, who called the police, which came to school and “grabbed” him. Now at home because he’s been suspended from school, Armaan must wear an ankle monitor as he awaits his court date. Though he is twelve years old, it is currently unclear whether he’ll be tried as a juvenile or an adult, and what charges he will face for the crime of carrying a trendy backpack to school.
Oh good god, Armaan is the one with the ankle bracelet, not the bully who LIED about him? Shame on that bully and the school who handles this incident so badly!
This is utterly outrageous!! A juvenile held for three days without informing his parents? Having an ankle monitor when he hasn’t been charged with anything? What what kind of principal calls the police without giving the student an opportunity to explain or calling his parents? I hope this family gets some serious legal help and finds a different school for their son. No child should be subjected to this ever!!!
This school district is going to soooooooooooooo get the shit sued off of them, that they’ll be lucky to still operate as a school district when this is over. Feel so badly for this boy…
‘ Old Dixie Highway is no more in Riviera Beach, Fla. Instead, motorists are driving on President Barack Obama Highway.
Riviera Beach officials renamed the portion of the highway in their city limits, and the new sign carrying the name of the nation’s first black president went up Thursday. Old Dixie, officials said, paid homage to an era that glorified slavery. ‘
I am a mac and cheese LOVER and while I adore truly great mac and cheese, I am also happy with Kraft and also noodles with Cheez Whiz melted on them. I know; I should be ashamed.
The story: my daughter is a ‘social media strategist’, this is the work she does for her clients. In this case, her client is the inventor, contacted her to help him launch the project. She wrote the script, did the filming, is in the video, you can hear her voice, see her hands working (and her feet!), did all the editing, and set up the Kickstarter. She builds websites for many people, does all their social media (FB, Twitter, Pinterest, you name it), and has just this week finally set up her own website!! Take a look: http://www.innovativedigitalmedia.com
She hoped to open her ETSY store this week, but has had to ‘slow down’ just a bit since her stroke last month. And she is 29, a powerhouse of ideas and innovation! Love her so much, she is doing well, healing rapidly with an expected full recovery. Will post ETSY link when it is available.
That’s so wonderful, MP! Glad she’s doing well, and I hope she doesn’t move too fast. But your daughter sounds like one of those “See the hill; take the hill” types, so good luck with that! All the best to her. I can feel your pride!
I want to give a report on our church’s feeding the homeless today. We fed 395 people, a record; we gave out 330 gift bags which contained a sweatshirt, a handknitted scarf, a hat, gloves, a tee shirt and some surprises. We also gave out 250 pounds of dry dog food and ten cases of wet dog food. I was in the serving line giving out bread. I have, never in my life had so many people tell me “Thank you” and “God bless you.” And Mighty Pamela, yes, my husband was right there with me! This was his day. This was the best birthday present I could give him, and the best way for me to celebrate his day. I wish all of you could be with me.
I talked to a couple of the founders of this project for some history. They started this about 20 years ago, and at that time, fed about 75-80. The day and the need have grown. I asked about other churches or groups doing this, and one man said…..”they’ll ask, you do this with all volunteers, and then two weeks later, you do it again, and two weeks later do it again…..we don’t know how.” And decide this is not for them. Another man said that most other churches want to proselyte more than feed, and it just doesn’t work. We don’t proselyte at all. There is a prayer at the beginning, but after that we take care of their physical needs. I believe that actions speak louder than words, and an incident from two weeks ago illustrate that. One of the volunteers accidentally left her phone on the counter and it disappeared. A while later it reappeared. Our people were told that the person who took it was taken to task by the others who said “These people are good to us and take care of us. Don’t steal from them.” Words are not necessary when the heart and actions are in accord.

I can’t think of anyone who fits that category…
If we do find that person, we must get them some help.
Yes, we must. It will be an emergency…
Did you wake up thinking this?
Ha! I personally love it.
:) I;m not even sure how this thing came to my mind…think I stumbled upon an internet recipe or some thing of that nature!
Only REAL mac & cheese — can’t stand the box stuff! Making M&C for 150 this week; I make folks sign a waiver before they are served it — 5 or 6 different cheeses, lots of butter and cream…
YUMMMMM…happy to sign a waiver. :)
I never liked Kraft Macaroni & cheese, but I never tried real homemade Mac & cheese and now I shouldn’t because I’m diabetic.
You’ve NEVER had homemade mac & cheese…even as a child/teen? Oh my goodness sjterrid…
I only made the Kraft Macaroni and cheese for my kids, and I didn’t like it.
WOW, never tried homemade m&c? I have a recipe for a diabetic cookbook. I’ll look for it after the holidays…
Thanks!
Umm, actually I am one of those people who do not like mac and cheese; but then, I also dislike peanut butter, corn flakes, grits, cornbread, green peas, carrots, quiche, bell peppers and pineapple upside down cake.
BANNED from TOD!

LOL! No grits or cornbread either. You would have been so unhappy growing up in my family!
Now, I don’t feel so bad!
