Oh, meta, it’s almost heartbreaking to see how young he looked in 2009. He still has the same optimism, the same confidence about America’s greatness, but the burdens of office have taken their toll. We owe him such a debt of gratitude for overcoming economic and global challenges that would have defeated a lesser person. No one else could have achieved what he has.
I had the very same feeling, jackieg. He looked so young . And then watching his video from today, still so full of hope but wearing the age of the burdens of these last 7 years. An incredible human being.

I am home. I left work 30 mins early than normal to make a company bank deposit, so I arrived home @ 4:45pm. It was just a light drizzle, then @5:06pm, the rain came down so hard, it caused me to look up to see if it was gonna come in through the roof! I heard an article on NPR (I listen while getting ready after getting up each morning) this morning concerning a study explaining why people do not fight for economic equality vs settling for class level pay that is not fair or equitable. The article talked about the influence family values and politics have in shaping long term opinions. Most accept what they were brought up to believe without much questioning. In my own mind I think church friends influence opinions also. The last part was that when alcohol is involved automatic responses kick in without thinking so it easily slips back to what the person grew up believing. That was supposedly an explanation of why people vote and argue against their own best interests. So many things could come into play to explain it.
According to Robert Proctor (he is the professor who coined the term “Agnotogy” which is “the study of deliberate propagation of ignorance”): “the knowledge people have often comes from faith or tradition, or propaganda more than anywhere else,”
