Watched the interview. Thought Hillary did an excellent job. Glad to see her focusing on the difference in substance and not personal attack. As she talked, I kept thinking: Hmm. Sounds like PO’s team has been advising her. :)

I didn’t watch the GOP debate last night — I had better things to do….like sleep.
But from what I’ve read so far, it was pretty nasty. The way the candidates are describing the doom and gloom that they see as the United States makes me wonder if I should even walk out my door (if I believed it). If the country were in as dismal a condition as they described and if this condition were the fault of PBO, I doubt that PBO would have won a second term. And based on the criticism with no substantial or feasible solutions coming from the GOP candidates, they would only take their doom and gloom to total ruin.
We do not need any of these dark clouds inhabiting the WH. We do not need any of these loose cannons who reside in an unrealistic universe that only exists in their heads as CIC.

I was thinking something similar after reading the accounts of the GOP “free-for-all” last night… they eat their own.
All snark aside, nearly half the murkans would vote willingly and comfortably for whichever snake emerges out of that cesspool.

That is completely true.
What the GOP has managed to do is create “team spirit” that transcends facts, logic, or decency. It doesn’t matter how “bad” the team is, their support of that team transcends decent outcomes.
I think it was Karl Frisch (or the Rude Pundit) during the last election. He’s from Louisiana, and he thought he had his brother convinced to vote for Landrieu instead of the RWNJ running against her. But when it came time to vote, the brother voted his Republican “team”. He told his brother, “I know what you said is all true, but I just don’t feel right voting for a Dem.”
I have a friend, a retired school librarian, one of the kindest people I know. But she’s a GOP, and we all thought at least a sane one. She is finding ways to be comfortable with Trump. I am flabbergasted.
Dems do nothing but criticize Dems. And the party has done nothing to counter the “team” mentality brewing over decades in the GOP. PBO tried, and tried mightily. It would have been nice if the party had followed his lead and supported him, but no. We’re still looking for a combination of Bobby Kennedy, Jesus & Merlin who can wave a wand and make it all perfect.
So Trump is a threat. A serious threat. Any one of those loons is an existential threat to our nation, akin to the Civil War. The “murkan people” have proven that fear is their prime motivator, and anyone who makes them feel “safe” enough to sit and watch sports all weekend without a care in the world - he’s their guy.
The entire GOP will vote for Trump and do so happily. Who cares if their team sucks, it’s their team!
All it takes is Dems to effing figure out that change is incremental and institutional, and all you have to do is either fill out a form, or take a few hours out of your life every two years and effing vote.
They have created a tribal mentality through fear and hate for decades. Hard to beat that except to do exceptional and relentless gotv, which was PBO’s main weapon. turd blossom blowing his gasket over OH in 2012 was the proof of it.

Since this is the “koffee Klatch” part of the day, can someone explain to me why Rubio is referred to as handsome and charismatic by the GOP and the media? He’s a short -5’6″ inch man with a doughy body, thin hair, dead eyes and a pudgy face. When he opens his mouth he confirms to all the world that he’s an empty suit who mouths talking points without understanding them. If there’s charisma in there somewhere, I’m not seeing it. Anyone else get it?

Jackie, I see what you see but there used to be another aspect to Marco. Back in the beginning, before desperation set in, Rubio did his own version of PBO’s “only in America is my story possible” speech. He delivered this with a big smile and you could see some charm to him. I thought then that he had a chance to win the GOP nomination.
All charm is gone now, empty eyes, angry glare, etc. Marco is going nowhere.
The story Marco told was proven to be wrong with the actual dates involved in his Dad coming to America. His story involved his Dad fleeing for his life, but he actually came before the revolution.
The rethugs and their msm minions wanted their own barack obama, so they thought el gulpo would be it. Now the clown has been thoroughly exposed. It’s all ODS at the end of the day.
There are so many things that keep Rubio — and other “great” hopes for the GOP — from being another Barack Obama…from lack of conviction (they go wherever the wind blows) to lack of compassion to lack of character. And as JackieG said, the charisma is just not there.
Somewhere along the way somebody told him he had the aptitude for high public office. As it turns out, he does not. There’s nothing handsome or charming about a self-serving opportunist. He’s failed as a Senator and he is going nowhere fast as a candidate for POTUS. That is the dead look in his eyes. He’s a massive failure.
