Great except for the white terrorists in Burns occupying the Malheur Wildlife Refuge and encouraging their pals in the anti-government fringe to come join them. This has to end soon!

me too Judith, I am hoping that it snows so badly that they beg to be rescued. I don’t want these loons and msm to make it about PBO.

Happy Friday everyone, and congrats on first, Jojo! Another baby with a last name for a first name! My teacher perspective: it’s very confusing when you’re writing in the last name first (grade books, forms, lunch list, etc.) and Earnest Walker looks more ‘correct’ than Walker Earnest and after a while you don’t know which way it’s supposed to go!

Bunkering is the only way to go, DonnaDem! Is “bunkering” a word? Well, it should be. :) If power goes out, can read a good book by flashlight, super flashlight! We can pretty inventive for sure! :)

LOL! Thought it was one to be added to our dictionary. Just sayin’! If power goes out, I’m pulling out long johns, whatever and kicking back at the wood burning fireplace and calling it a good day in my world. Ahem! I’ve actually done a great job lighting the fireplace in past times. In the beginning, I had to bless Google — “lighting a fireplace for dummies” is a great search. :)

I sure get the impression his wife would rather be at her workplace. I so remember Michelle Obama on the campaign trail - 100% support of all that he said & did. I also remember that the children were very rarely involved.

That 1st video - if I was his mother I would have walked out - some things are private and my child would know much better than ask me to share with the world.

Here’s the pool report on @VP’s trip to Istanbul bazaar. Had no idea that it snows in Istanbul.

Lots of good details on @VP’s shopping trip with Dr. Biden and granddaughter.
“Mr. Biden and family spent about an hour at the bazaar. Secret Service agents were all around them and stood outside any store VPOTUS entered. They walked in and out of shops. Sometimes together, sometimes they went their own ways. They went into another jewelry store. Mr. Biden went with Dr. Biden into a store that sold blankets, towels and robes.”

And @VP has alternate plans if DC weather won’t permit their scheduled return tomorrow night:

But, damn, in my heart they would have been fab. And I’ll try not to go there, except when I see what they do, then I get all melancholy-like. Boo! OK, I’m all good now. :)

But we are also here because influential ideological voices on the Left saw the President’s pragmatism as weakness. We are also here because these voices saw - and still see - the president’s accomplishments for the American people as insignificant at best. We are here because the Left has time and again refused to have President Obama’s back, to celebrate what he has accomplished. So much so, that even today, voices on the Left are threatening to elect more Republicans if Democrats support the President’s agenda.

Good evening, TOD! Been on the go all day — compressed four days worth of errands into one afternoon. I plan to be in until Wednesday! I had a close call on the road last Sunday, so I’m not taking any chances this weekend! Last Sunday, I was exiting the B/W Parkwway onto I-83, fortunately there wasn’t a vehicle in front or behind me as I hit a patch of ice, slid onto the grass median to my left, spun several times, slid back onto the ramp and then onto the median on the right, spun a few more times, then ended up back on the ramp, headed in the direction I was going. As I was driving up the ramp, I noticed that traffic entering the parkway was stopped due to a multi-car accident. I feel so Blessed! So happens that we was listening to an AM gospel station; song playing during this incident “He’s Got Me!” Once we were safely proceeding on I-83, I told my passenger (who doesn’t drive) during an emergency situation DON’T GRAB THE DRIVER!!!! lol

Here’s a hilarious weather update — LOVE this dude’s voice!

Thank you so much 99ts for sharing this! I was 15 years when President Kennedy gave this speech, but I’ve never forgotten it. It’s so sad to witness the level of religious intolerance in the United States in the 21st Century!

I have a memory of going to a friend’s place (catholic) and them discussing the US election & saying they wanted JFK to win. I went home & asked my mother about it (protestant) and she didn’t have an opinion but told me all the catholics wanted JFK, that was why my friend’s family were so keen.

She later became a massive JFK fan - we were in mourning with the US when he died.

Just reversing the current senate numbers amk. What Bernie didn’t mention - some of the current 17 women are GOPers who support taking away any rights of women to won their bodies.

I will never understand why a woman would support the GOP, let alone represent that party in congress.

    From the last paragraph

The biggest flaw in Obama’s theory of change was born of arrogance rooted in past personal success. He plainly thought he could win Republicans over by moving toward them. I don’t think he fully corrected on that until the sequester took its first bite and he realized that Republicans wouldn’t compromise to shut it off. That quirk aside, though, I don’t think that Democrats ruminating over how change works can find a more nuanced or effective perspective than Obama’s. -

this is basically a good article outlining the consistency of the President re: change…
but the author sees the President as being naive for wanting to work with the GOP to compromise to move things forward…i am often amused by folks who see the President as naive…
there is an interesting passage in which he quotes the President….re…progress…

“One of the things that I’ve learned to appreciate more as President is you are essentially a relay swimmer in a river full of rapids, and that river is history,? he later told me. “You don’t start with a clean slate, and the things you start may not come to full fruition on your timetable. But you can move things forward.”

if you look at this in the context of the ACA…i can see the President….just smilin and shakin his head - at all the hullabooloo about who should get credit for Obamacare
