    Bringing this over:

Tonight at Drake University the students did a mock caucus in preparation for next Monday night and look at the results.

The media will have a field day if this is how the results end up on Monday….

It’s just one school with tons of youth but we could be in for a big surprise on Monday. I told y’all this stuff might just get really interesting come Monday night.

Let’s see how man people brave the cold in Iowa. Wow 2 delegates for chiton is a shocker.

Both four and two are small numbers. and the data ignores numbers of elderly and of superdelegates. I suspect Hilary is paying closer attention to the details this time around. Generally, more elders caucus than do young adults. With just three candidates in the running in an overwhelmingly white state, I don’t think Iowa is all that important.

These simulations are pretty meaningless. The demographics and geography largely favor Clinton. The rules of delegate counts weight rural areas and smaller towns mightily compared to cities, and areas with older populations which favors Clinton. Can’t be made up by the swing that Sanders might get from cities where colleges are located. It’s going to be about turnout and previous caucus voters and older voters heavily favor Clinton.

In my rural area the Democrats will be jumping for joy to vote for Clinton. Sanders NOT. These are a mixture of Dixiecrats and union members and something in between. The Obama coalition is gaining in the state with an active OFA group and the largest city’s mayoral job just went Dem with major help of Obama trained organizers. The head of the Dem party in our state is an Obama veteran. At first the rank and file in our rural Dem group were not so sure about the state chair but I know that as more and more offices go to Dems with good organizing techniques like, dah, GOTV, there will be a gradual shift. Just like in all things, the Obama coalition quietly, steadfastly, keeps working hard and smart. Every campaign staffer I have met is young and an Obama veteran. State level activists on issues like gay rights, gun sense, environmental issues are showing the signs of empowerment and serious coalition building that are the marks of the Obama era. Respect, empower, include goes beyond explanation in its effectiveness with none of the bad side effects of “revolution”. My primary vote is going to Clinton that’s for sure. The day I was reminded that Sanders attempted to primary our President I knew I was done with him. Also a recent article from a Sanders campaign person saying we need a first lady like Sanders wife that represents all of us I began to loathe, not just disapprove of, Sanders and his campaign operatives.

Respect, empower, include is the opposite of the Sanders troop’s arrogance. The notion that Michelle is privileged and insincere in what she does is loathesome. Guess they have never actually observed her in action. Hugger-in-chief brings joy and respect wherever she goes.

Our President has the most loving and compassionate heart and he brings healing and understanding with him wherever he goes. After the humiliating Bush years, he’s made all of us proud to be Americans.

Recently, a friend returned from a cruise that included international tourists, some of whom were Muslims. She said that when the tv showed images of Trump spewing his bigoted obscenities, the other tourists would avert their eyes from the Americans, sensing their embarrassment. Everyone of the Republican candidates would cause the world to avert their eyes from our humiliation. We can’t allow that to happen.

    GE TODville.

Got home late, just now reading this, which is the answer to all those who (inexplicably) believe it’s better to deny an education to DREAMERs. The article doesn’t mention if Cedrick Argueta’s parents are lawful US residents (or citizens), but they are both hard-working immigrants with children who should be role models for all US youth.

    From the article:
“Cedrick is the son of Lilian and Marcos Argueta, both of whom came to the United States as young adults – she from the Philippines, he from El Salvador. Lilian, a licensed vocational nurse, works two jobs at nursing homes. Marcos is a maintenance worker at one of those nursing homes. He never went to high school.”

    From the artice:

Today, January 27th, is the International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust.

The day marks the anniversary of the 1945 liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau German Nazi concentration and extermination camp, and is a time for us to pause and remember the millions of people who were murdered and whose lives were changed beyond recognition under Nazi persecution.

May it also serve to remind us that genocide does not just take place on its own – it’s a steady process which can begin if discrimination, racism and hatred are not checked and prevented.

As always, I am coming to the meeting late. Just wanted to thank you so much for sharing Jeff’s tweeter pics. I feel so blessed to be alive during the presidency of Barack H. Obama. Most importantly, I feel so proud to have been part of the wonderful and passionate people like you and all the TOD family who helped to elect and re-elect him as President of the United States.
