Look how humble our PBO is as evidenced about where he is sitting. He does not have to be the center of attention or sitting in the front on an elevated chair (as LBJ did) to prove he is in charge. He has that natural confidence and power that is quietly evident in the way that he comports himself. His position also says that he has Joe’s back. Our guys are all kinds of wonderful.

****

MadameSoph

This is a BFD :-)

I’m so excited PBO has put VPB in charge of this. Knowing this administration and PBO, they would not set these ambitious goals if they didn’t think reaching them was possible. As VP said, “Listen, I’m not Bernie Sanders…..I’m not a populist. But I’m a realist.”

I lost my Dad and other family to cancer and quite a few of my friends are fighting or have recovered from it. I’m so grateful for the Cancer Moonshot.

So, when “curing cancer” gets added to saving the economy and auto industry, bringing justice to Bin Laden, providing affordable healthcare to millions and combating climate change, how will they spin “disappointment” then?

****

GGail

Where PBO has his chair positioned says a whole lot.
Wow, what a great man.

Let the haters hate. We know the real deal when we see it.

Here is a macro view of how to gauge turnout #’s …. >130,000 the better for Trump (every 10,000 votes = %1) if it reaches 200,000 expect ~10pt win for him. For Hillary she needs it to be less than ~175,000 (130,000 she wins ~%5, 200k Bernie wins) also after O’Malley doesn’t reach the 15% threshold about 65% will go to Bernie. The last caveat, but maybe the most significant is that HRC is actually up 60-40 among only D caucus goers. Bernie gets ~65% of Independent vote in all D polls, but they could all be voting +70 in the GOP caucuses (If that is the case HRC will win by (6-8pts)

I am happy PBO put VPB incharge of the Cancer Moonshot after Joe lost his son to cancer determining he would not run for the presidency. Joe needed this important mission to give his life purpose and PBO is not about needing to take credit or get acclaim on everything. Our compassionate President is about teamwork and working for us. We have been so lucky to have had PBO, his family, VPB, his wife and all of their administration working to improve our lives. We are blessed. My wish is we can have a President that follows him protecting and building upon his structural changes.

Good evening TOD. I was just listening to the Norman Goldman show and this lady called in said she was the head person in the Obama campaign in 2008 in the panhandle of Florida, the record turnout and the after election, they were abandoned. I turned it off then. I couldn’t listen anymore. I know there are many people out there who expected to be taken care of and didn’t push. Interesting how they are all complaining now.

When we were downsizing - we bought a shredder! took months to do it all (cheap shredders overheat if you use them more than 10-15 minutes at a time). Now we just shred it as we get it - cause the unit is so small - nowhere to store “stuff” :)

    Subject: A CATHOLIC CHAUFFEUR

    _____________________________

After getting all of Pope Francis’s luggage loaded into the limo at the airport, (and he doesn’t travel light), the driver notices the Pope is still standing on the curb.
‘Excuse me, Your Holiness,’ says the driver, ‘Would you please take your seat so we can leave?’
‘Well, to tell you the truth,’ says the Pope, ‘they never let me drive at the Vatican , and I’d really like to drive today.’
“I’m sorry, Your Holiness, but I cannot let you do that. I’d lose my job! What if something should happen?” protests the driver, wishing he’d never gone to work that morning.
‘Who’s going to tell?’ asks the Pope with a smile.
Reluctantly, the driver gets in the back as the Pope climbs in behind the wheel. The driver quickly regrets his decision when, after exiting the airport, the Pontiff floors it, accelerating the limo to 205 kms. (Remember, the Pope is Argentinian,)(and Fangio the famous racer was Argentinian.)
“Please slow down, Your Holiness,” pleads the worried driver, but the Pope keeps the pedal to the metal until they hear sirens.
“Oh, dear God, I’m going to lose my license — and my job!’, moans the driver.
The Pope pulls over and rolls down the window as the cop approaches; but the cop takes one look at him, goes back to his motorcycle, and gets on the radio.
‘I need to talk to the Chief,’ he says to the dispatcher.
The Chief gets on the radio and the cop tells him that he’s stopped a limo going 205 kph.
‘So bust him,’ says the Chief.

‘I don’t think we want to do that. He’s really important,’ said the cop.
The Chief exclaimed, ‘All the more reason!’

‘No, I mean really important,’ said the cop with a bit of persistence.
The Chief then asked, ‘Who do you have there, the mayor?’
    Cop: ‘Bigger.’
    Chief: ‘ A senator?’
    Cop: ‘Bigger.’

    Chief: ‘The President?’
    Cop: ‘Bigger.’
‘Well,’ said the Chief, ‘who is it?’
    Cop: ‘I think it’s God!’

The Chief is even more puzzled and curious, ‘What makes you think it’s God?

Cop: ‘His chauffeur is the Pope!

So today a young guy at my office in Chicago told me he spent the weekend calling Iowa Dems for Clinton. I told him I was going with the Seltzer poll and thought Hillary would win by 5. He is soooo nervous about tonight and thought that since Iowa has so many young voters because of the 2008 election that Bernie might win. I told him there’s no way that most of those young voters are switching from Obama to Sanders.

      I see some dem nos H-258, S-242 as against TC - 9900 DT - 9800 etc.

      • 96 lovelyplains
        February 1, 2025 at 9:30 pm

Those are individual precinct totals after first and second votes. Plus some precincts may have huge populations (big Sanders totals) but still only count for a small # of delegates allocated. use this to remove the confusing clutter https://www.idpcaucuses.com/#/state

        • 97 99ts
          February 1, 2025 at 9:32 pm

So are the counts number of delegates rather than votes for the dems? Does the GOP do it differently?

          • 98 lovelyplains
            February 1, 2025 at 9:41 pm

GOP does it different… they just do a simple vote at all the precincts and then totaled statewide in the end. Dem have viability tests (you have to get 15% of the vote for your candidate or you chose Undecided/HRC/Bernie if you are a O’Malley suporter) and then there is a re-vote. But after that the individual precinct is counted. But as for your ? the link is the actual vote total after official precincts report. Right now 1113/1683 (66%) reported HRC 50.8, Bernie 48.6

We are all confused :D :D The difference is caucus vs. primary states. Nevada (caucus too) is after New Hampshire, followed by S. Carolina. There are ~13 caucus states if my memory serves me right. Mind you there are totally different systems for Gov. races like in Louisiana & California where it doesn’t matter your party affiliation (initial vote to find top two) then a final vote. It is how a D (Edwards) beat Sen. Vitter to win. Louisiana votes on Saturdays too…go figure!

I remember being in Reno, NV in 2008 when they were having a second caucus. They had had one earlier that my younger son and his wife went to for Obama. NV also had a Primary election on a ballot so they had three parts to their process, if I am remembering correctly. The level of complication ended up getting Obama more delegates than Clinton even though the media called the win for her. My oldest son and daughter-in-law in WA state went to caucus for Obama. My son was chosen to also go to the district caucus to speak for Obama at a later time. Oregon had mail in primary ballots as they do in the general election. Primaries are complicated.

Darn! I was going to vote for Martin in the Primary due to believing he would keep Obama’s policies in tact best and build on them. Then I figured I would vote for the Dem candidate in the General unless Hillary needed my vote to become the candidate in the Primary. Guess she must need my vote. I have become convinced that Bernie is not a good bet to protect Obama’s achievements. Maybe not quite as bad as a GOP candidate, but out of recklessness the results could be as bad.
