So, my Family Day here is ending with a member of my family spending the night in the Red Zone of the Emergency Dept of our local hospital. It’s my mom and, for starters, she seems alright but they are keeping her in for testing. Apparently she passed out briefly while at the dining table (at my sister’s), and was a bit less than coherent when they noticed and tried to get a response from her. 911 was called and she was ‘okay’, if weak, by the time they arrived. She chatted up a storm with me when I made it to the Red Zone, so I’m hopeful. She was supposed to be going home, then they changed their minds and decided to keep her over night to continue their tests. What was weird though was that after the doctor told me about the overnight stay, he came back to me a few minutes later to ask about whether or not they should resuscitate if her heart/whatever stopped working during the night. smh Quite odd, IMO.
Ah VC, so sorry about your Mom’s ordeal, you must be worn out after the experience. I’d guess the doctor’s request is just standard procedure, especially for an elderly person being kept in overnight? Wishing her the speediest of recoveries ❤️
Standard procedure is what I am hoping, CC. Honestly, I understand why doctors always seem to make a point of advising about worse case scenarios, but I really wish they’d time their news better. Fortunately, my sisters live close by so we actually staggered our stay at the hospital which made it a bit less stressful.
OTH, it seems like the family is heading into a rough patch. I came home and phoned sister to give her an update re mother only to have her tell me that her husband’s niece called. Her dad (47ish & sister’s brother-in-law) had a stroke, is bleeding in the brain and is currently on life support at a hospital in Vermont. Apparently they had to do surgery to release the pressure in his brain, but neither she nor her husband really understand what is going in. Ay-yi-yi yi-yi!
Thanks for your, and everyone’s, good wishes in both cases. Knowing others are with you sure does help ease the mental weight. Somewhat cheekily/irreverently, I’m wondering if my adding that ‘Life’s good’ to my early morning comment today drew attention my way from the gods against too much happiness.
vc, remember our dear PBO and all the troubles he has faced these past 7 years. Yet he always has a smile on his face….well almost always. Anyway he always focuses on the long view, and he always seems to look for the love and the laughter. So I am totally sure your ‘Life’s good ‘ comment this morning had nothing to do with it. Remember to breathe and know we are all here for you. Hugs.
{{cd4biden}} Yes, I do have a smile in my heart, if not on my face. Thanks for the reminder. My mother was looking far better than I had anticipated from the phone call.
VC, what a frightening day for you. I hope your mom fully recovers and can come home tomorrow as planned. I think it’s pretty routine to inquire about “living will” arrangements, but I’m sure it was worrying. Please let us know how she’s doing.
Seems to be the first thing they now ask you in emergency in my world vc. Doctors, to an extent, are covering their actions by getting family views. Thus said, when my Dad was ill, the doctors told me what they were/were not going to do, regardless of the answer to their questions.
I am known to pass out for little reason at times - relates to low BP (despite mine is usually high). Wishing your Mom 100% better in the morning & all good test results.
VC, lifting your Mom, sister’s B-i-L, and all of your family in prayer. You’re fortunate to have siblings that share the load; I had two older brothers via my father, and a younger brother via my Mom; yet, when my father was dying, and any time my Mom is ill, I’m an only child…
Also, thanks to all you guys and gals for your reassurance re ‘standard procedure’. It’s exactly what I wanted to hear! :) You guys are the best - thanks!
I was sen chuck grassley, I would not be making too much noise against scalia replacement …. instead, I would be worried that karma is fairly active against mean-spirited anti-Obama types and collecting their souls
I’ve been watching Rachel - 1st time in years. Looking at the SCOTUS cases that are probably impacted by Scalia’s death. Bob McDonnell could be on the losing side. Had forgotten he was appealing to SCOTUS.
Busy week — closing out 2015 taxes and working on my lien list; sorting through my summer clothes, trying to find some that fit; need to clean this filthy house; etc, etc…
GE, TOD!
GE, jazziz2!
Congratulations!
He’s the best!
Congrats jazz :)
Thank you NW and hope you are enjoying the day!!
Love that video! Wishing him much success!
:)
This is a perfect list from Cozella. May it continue to lengthen into infinity.

Damn, that’s way too much upset for one day. My brother-in-law’s sister was given six months to live last week, she’s 49. Life is beyond cruel.
O no. Maybe she’ll prove the doctors wrong.
Oh dear {{{ Chips }}}, indeed cruel.
{{{{{Dudette}}}}}
here is hoping she makes it longer than what the doctors’ speculated;
I have a very close friend who was given less than a month to live, it has been more than a year and half and her health is now improving
prayers she will prove them wrong
Oh no, vc! Y’all are getting more than a fair share of tough times. Wishing your Mom & Sister’s Brother-in-Law both speedy recovery.

Never let the setbacks keep you from appreciating your blessings. Hold on tight to the good to help you through the rough timed.

vc, you are in my prayers. This is a lot to bear. We here will carry you in our hearts.

So glad to hear that. Keep us posted on her progress.
Sending love and prayers to you, VC and Chips.
Thanks, MtM. Both are vital.
Thoughts and prayers are with you, vc
TY 4 good wishes! Much appreciated.
Sending good thoughts and wishes you and your family’s way, VC.
Will keep your mom, you and your family in my thoughts, VC. All the best!!
Good night TOD

VC, I hope your mom fully recovers and that it turns out to be nothing really serious. God speed. 🙏

:) Yea, I’ve noticed that it does help when the siblings are females.
As a daughter in law, it is a role I shared with my husband’s sister. The men seem to go missing in action.
My maternal brother’s wife can’t be bothered…
So scary, vc! I hope they find out the cause and get your Mom back on her feet soon! Sending hugs to you all!
hoping for the best for your mom and your other relative who is facing such a challenging time;
time to hang tight as a family for mutual support

VC, praying that all goes well with your mother.
TY, SW.
Thanks for ending this Presidents Day with these POTUS moments, NerdyW. Definitely an uplift! :)
Also, thanks to all you guys and gals for your reassurance re ‘standard procedure’. It’s exactly what I wanted to hear! :) You guys are the best - thanks!
Best wishes to your mother and your family.
All wishes gratefully accepted; thank you.
VC, has your mom been missing her medication doses?
Maybe she should spend a few days with you so you can monitor her & ensure she takes her meds.
Gail, I don’t know re missing meds, but I *do know* youngest sibling is a better ‘nurse’ than I.
Hamilton on the Grammys — endless SQUEEEEEE!
I remember the days when conspiracy theories weren’t discussed by MSM.

Mexico indigenous people: Pope Francis asks for forgiveness
Pope Francis has asked Mexican indigenous people in Chiapas state for forgiveness over they way they have been excluded from society.
He made his appeal while celebrating Mass in three native languages after a new Vatican decree approved their use.
The Pope also used the open-air service in San Cristobal de las Casas to warn about threats to the environment.
Throughout his five-day trip he has condemned the evils of forced emigration and drugs.
He has urged Mexico’s leaders to provide “true justice” to suffering citizens.
