Chat Away

***

On Friday, speaking before entrepreneurs in the Usina del Arte, US President Barack Obama told: “I came here partly because I wanted to come to Buenos Aires since I was young I enjoy literature Argentina I Read (Jorge Luis) Borges,.. to (July) Cortazar, and I was fascinated by the city. the only problem is that when read, people always drank mate and I did not know what it was. Today I took my first mate and I liked it, “he said. “My team thought I was very clear at the press conference today thanks to the matte, which cleared my mind,” he joked.

This is Ted Cruz’s last stand: Why the Wisconsin primary could be his final chance
If Cruz wants to maintain a credible shot at unseating Trump at the convention, he probably needs to win next week
    HEATHER DIGBY PARTON

So far, Donald Trump has won 20 primaries and caucuses. Nobody who has won so many has ever been denied the nomination in either party. If it were anyone but him, the political professionals would pretty much be going through the motions by now, continuing to wage perfunctory primary campaigns but beginning to ready themselves for the the next phase of the campaign against the Democrats. But because Donald Trump is the presumptive nominee the party is still flailing about, trying to figure out a way to wake up from their nightmare.

Right now, all eyes are on Wisconsin which votes on April 5th. The conventional wisdom says Ted Cruz has to win there in order to even sustain the argument that he might be worthy of taking the nomination on the second ballot at the convention if Trump comes up short. This is something of a desperate gamble, but it’s all they’ve got.

I hope these big business names keep the pressure on and make this a high-visibility mistake on the GOP’s part.

So true. They refuse to learn anything from seeing PBO sit at a black-tie dinner laughing at a Bin Laden joke having given the order to have Bin Laden killed.

Hi, all. Learned today that I have a very bad form of bronchitis. I am to take medication for three day and if I show no improvement by Monday, they will have to test for pneumonia. So I am a wheezing feverish mess who just wants to sleep all the time. Hopefully I’ll come back into the land of the living soon.

    Absolutely worth the read.

    View story at Medium.com

The path to revolution assumes that you can impose on a nation radical change. This radical change assumes that you have a majority of the people with you and that somehow the other side will not resist. The other side will succumb to your will because your will is the right one for your nation. Sure, revolutions have passion, fervor and zeal. But, they are short lived and divisive. When the other side resists, and it will, how will you deal with them and sustain the vision of the revolution? Revolutions are not sustainable, democracies are.

      March 25, 2025 at 1:13 pm

If a revolution was the right way to go, Hillary Clinton would have adopted it and used it as a tactic. Hell, back in the 90’s when Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton were running for the Presidency they would have used it if it was a viable option. As I said before Bernie’s thinking is stuck in the past, the more he’s confronted with this truth the more belligerent his speech will become. Thus he’s threatening the Democratic Party that he will not vote for the Democratic nominee should it not be him. Soon he might start to talk of running as a third party candidate.

        March 25, 2025 at 2:17 pm

Don, it’ll be interesting to see what his supporters say when he does this. They are so cult-like it’s mind-boggling.

Everything they claimed to be ‘cult of personality’ about PBO supporters is what they are doing and saying themselves: They totally believe Bernie, he’s the only honest politician out there, he doesn’t lie, he keeps his word, he can’t be bought, he’s the only one they trust.

Of course, that comes with the hypocrisy of defending anything he does while they flame Hillary for doing something similar or less overt. They go nuts over the idea that Hillary’s superdelegates could overturn “the will of the voters”, but shrug when the Sanders campaign says they might try to influence them. When he walked out on the AZ reporters, they loved it - not a whit of concern over whether that showed his short-tempered nature and whether that would be a liability as POTUS.

I can only imagine how quickly and easily Trump would get under his thin skin. Hillary should start needling on his policy specifics to start exposing his unfitness to lead, both in policy and temperament.

That was a huge fish! I think I just missed him landing with it. He took off again soon after and it looked like he was carrying a chunk of it with him! Eaglets were bobbing around like crazy!

GGail I have been watching the eagles and it is so interesting watching both parents feed the eaglets. They eat then they sleep. The parent feed them so gently. I hope many school children are watching this too. What a majestic bird.

    Good Afternoon TOD Family.

On March 11th, my youngest brother had a massive stroke and on March 20th he passed away. I’ve been in Northern California since March 12th and have been lurking whenever I can. Needless to say that this has been a very emotional time for all of us. As always, I so appreciate TOD being my port of sanity in the political storm. Peace and Blessings to you all.

I had to look it up, to find out what the heck is “Mate”, pronounced “Mi’ taye”

Mate is a traditional drink in some countries in South America, especially in Argentina, Paraguay,Uruguay and Brazil. It is also common in parts of Chile, Lebanon, and Syria. The drink, which contains caffeine, is made by an infusion of dried leaves of yerba mate (Ilex paraguariensis).
