“Porsche would like you to buy a new 911. In order to convince you of that, it has created “the world’s first interactive hologram print ad.” Now, it’s not exactly a “hologram print ad.” It’s a print ad, included in 50,000 copies of Fast Company’s April issue, that includes a prism that you can assemble. You then take the prism, drop it on top of your tablet, and watch a special video on the Porsche website. Voila! Hologram.
Adweek says 150,000 total prisms have been created, 50,000 acetate versions included in the magazine, plus another 100,000 glass versions that will be distributed via direct mail. The goal with the ad campaign is to give the audience “a feeling of intrigue and curiosity,” said Marshall Ross, chief creative officer for Porsche’s ad agency Cramer-Krasselt, to Adweek. Both the prism and the video went through many levels of trial-and-error to get it just right, both to ensure the video looked right and that the prism survived the printing and shipping process to get to the reader in one piece…continued”

Oh I’m not surprised by what is coming, lovelyplains, whatever country embraces science today to the fullest extent will be the global leader of tomorrow. While Europe and Asia are building their third and fourth generation bullet trains, we’re still fighting to get funds to fix potholes.
My son got his report card yesterday and his grades were excellent, so I’m going to take him to see Dead Pool because that’s what he wants to see. Only we’re not going to see Dead Pool, we’re going to see Superman vs Batman because that’s what I want to see. So how did I bribe my son into going to see the movie that I want to see? I’m taking him to the movie-eatery where you can watch a movie and order your food from your chair which is a full-recliner which he loves. Its not that I don’t want to honor my son’s wishes, its just that I understand the power of bribery.

“U.K.-based tech enthusiast Mrwhosetheboss posted a now-viral tutorial on YouTube that shows how to turn any smartphone into a hologram projector. Here’s what you need: graph paper, a CD case (you’ll have to get rid of them one day), tape or super glue, a pen, scissors, a smartphone and a knife or glass cutter. “To build the projector, draw a small rhombus on the graph paper, use that template to cut out four rhombus shapes with the plastic from the CD case, tape the four plastic cut-outs together, place the 3D construction over your smartphone, load up a “hologram-specific video” (like this one), press play — and voilà! A homemade hologram! You can increase the size of projector’s rhombus template as much as you like, Mrwhosetheboss noted, as long as the projector fits atop your smartphone screen when you’re done.”
I suspect soon that smartphones will be capable of projecting 4k movies and images onto any surface, this 3D hologram is just the beginning. We are creeping closer to true artificial intelligence, the future belongs to those that seek the technology of today.
Just finished posting on the last thread and found it ended as I was posting. Wanted to say there was a good article on NPR this morning addressing medias role in Donald Trump’s rise. At the beginning I was ready to turn it off as a bunch of excuses for their irresponsible behavior, but stuck it through and heard the commentator’s own belief aired beautifully at the end. Maybe someone here can dig it up and post it.

“In you include contributions from outside groups supporting a candidate, Clinton’s total increases slightly to $333,000, compared to Sanders’ $54,000. Compared to Republicans, Democrats have received just a pittance from the fossil-fuel industry: 2.3 percent of oil and gas contributions in this election cycle. That should be no surprise, given that both Clinton and Sanders have been critical of the oil and gas industry — and have targeted it for higher taxes or reduced loopholes. As our colleague Philip Bump noted, about 0.15 percent of Clinton’s campaign and outside PAC money is from the “oil and gas industry,” compared to 0.04 percent of Sanders’s contributions. So it’s pretty hard to describe that as “significant,” as Sanders did in his interview.
..But Sanders campaign has its own math, which is borrowed from a Greenpeace analysis…There’s a further problem with this calculation. Greenpeace counts all of the money raised or contributed by lobbyists as “oil/gas industry” funds, but these lobbyists have many other clients besides the oil industry. Ben Klein, one of the lobbyists highlighted in the Greenpeace report, also lobbies for American Airlines, Cigna, and Hearst, according to the lobbying disclosure database, so in theory his contributions to the Clinton campaign could also be labeled as funds for airline, insurance or media industry….CRP is generally considered the gold standard for tracking campaign contributions, but the Sanders campaign rejects its method of counting. “When it comes to looking at how much a campaign has received from the fossil fuel industry, we believe that Greenpeace is the gold standard,” said senior adviser Warren Gunnels….continued”

Senator Sanders, over the past seven years you’ve had several interesting things to say about our president. In addition to calling the Affordable Care Act modest, you’ve also stated that President Obama let down the progressive movement with his support of legislation like the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal and you’ve questioned his leadership when it comes to his dealings with Congress. In addition, you penned an endorsement for noted President Obama critic Bill Press’ book titled Buyer’s Remorse and you even went as far as to say it would be a “good idea” to mount a primary challenge to President Obama ahead of the 2012 election. You’ve also added many surrogates to your campaign who have been critical of President Obama in the past including Cornel West, Tulsi Gabbard, Mark Ruffalo, and Rosario Dawson.
My question, Senator, is what exactly has President Obama done to earn your ire? You’ve insisted he hasn’t been progressive enough yet he has done remarkably well given the situation he inherited both economically and later politically with a blatantly obstructionist Republican Party. Some might even call his presidency ‘revolutionary’ in the fact that he has enabled systems in place for improved healthcare, wages, infrastructure, and Wall Street reform, all issues you are campaigning on yourself. What would you have done differently in a way that would have allowed you to enact your agenda while not alienating your political opponents? Do you think that it is wise to run against a sitting president who was re-elected with 65.9 million votes and a current 53% approval rating? And do you think that having surrounded yourself with surrogates who speak out against our country’s first African-American president might be one of the reasons why African-Americans are refusing to support your campaign?
