Went to a Democratic fundraiser last night and was glad to see so many people running for state and congressional reps. It isnāt always easy to get people to run in a Republican dominated area, so I was glad to see people step forward and feel confident about their chances. Apparently, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee wonāt help anyone unless they reach a certain level of fundraising, but they wonāt tell candidates what that level is. Seems a weird way to run things.

A convenient and self-serving way to move the goalposts without too much squawking? If they like a candidate (one from their elite/favoured circle) who doesnāt meet the level they can discretely prop him/her up; if they get an aspiring candidate they donāt approve of who isnāt there yet (but could get their with grassroots help if they knew the amount) this non-support could shut him/her down. IMO high-level Dems are just as selfish and cliquish and as likely to pull the ladder up after themselves as ……..

Iāve been catching up and reading about the latest in the string of unethical behavior by the Sanders campaign….daily thereās something new that would make voting for him (if it came to that) a matter of really having to hold my nose.
And then thereās this that makes you go “hmmmmmmmmmm”…

According to an investigation by the right-leaning Washington Free Beacon, Sandersās spouse of 27 years, Jane OāMeara Sanders, and his stepdaughter, Carina Driscoll, both drew sizable salaries from Sandersās House campaigns between 2000 and 2004…OāMeara Sanders was paid āmore than $90,000 for consulting and ad placement servicesā between 2002 and 2004, while Driscoll received $65,000 from the campaign over the course of four years.
…revelations about Sandersās wifeās tenure as the president of Burlington College will certainly raise eyebrows. During her time there, the college paid nearly $500,000 to the Vermont Woodworking School, run by Driscoll, for classes…college also reportedly paid tens of thousands of dollars to an all-inclusive Caribbean resort run by Jonathan Leopold, the son of a family friend…Between 2009 and 2011, when OāMeara Sanders stepped down, Burlington College paid around $68,000 to the resort…payments to both the woodworking school and the resort stopped soon after she left.
Infamously, OāMeara Sanders was not known for her fiscal responsibility while president of Burlington, allegedly overstating pledge donations while filing a loan with the Burlington Diocese of the Catholic Church, forcing them to reportedly eat a loss up to $2 million.

Of course, Sanders says that he report is rehashed and discredited Republican attacks. Yet, that doesnāt stop him or his campaign from doing the same to HRC.
Wouldnāt be surprised but Iām not sharing this until it comes from other than a right wing source.
And since she wonāt, it seems to me that her supporters should apologize on her behalf. So here goes:
1. Senator Sanders, Iām sorry you broke your promise to campaign on issues rather than making baseless personal attacks.
2. Senator Sanders, Iām sorry that your campaignās original hopeful tone has turned so nasty.
3. Senator Sanders, Iām sorry that your policy proposals are so rich in slogans and so poor in practical details. And I wish you knew the difference between āuniversal coverageā (a goal) and āsingle payerā (one of many alternative means of reaching that goal).
