From a TPM Prime member: “Now I get it! As soon as I heard [Trump] say the line involving the bully that keeps getting beat up in his “policy” speech tonight, I realized that is where he’s got it all wrong. He really believes that’s our role. To push the world around. To pick on the world to make it realize how flawed it is. To get the world to do your work for you at gunpoint if you have to. Dangerous, reckless, short-sighted, nihilistic and just plain obnoxious to hear pitched as sound thinking.”

Interesting, I thought government business couldn’t take place through private email or non-government email accounts. I think it might be impossible to prohibit government officials from conducting business strictly though government email.

        September 2, 2025 at 2:30 pm

I thought I had read that part of HRC’s private server use was to overcome some of the limitations to accessibility of the government hardware/software …especially given her international travel. I agree that conducting business strictly through government email is an unrealistic expectation.

I’m amazed that the government hasn’t kept up with today’s technology, I remember President Obama speaking about this at one time or another. You would think that a Secretary of State would have all the latest technological tools at her disposal.

Very interesting, maybe her team waited for just the right moment to let her do her thing. Let Trump expose every inch of himself without saying a word, and then let Hillary chew him to pieces at just the right time. I think she was chomping at the bit to speak to the reporters.

Republican leaders claimed they wanted to avoid the possibility of another government shutdown, but that looks to be in danger. After what Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (Nev) had called the “longest recess in 16 years”, it’s about that time for them to get back to work before the inevitable happens.

  41. 82 swbluega
    September 2, 2025 at 5:59 pm

But what about the important issues,,,like Zika….

The exact language is still in flux, and multiple sources said discussions are ongoing. But Speaker Paul Ryan’s office and other leadership staff have been researching ways they can punish Democrats for their controversial occupation of the House floor to protest the chamber’s lack of response to the Orlando, Florida shooting massacre.

GOP lawmakers are expected to discuss the matter next week upon returning from their summer recess. While no votes have been scheduled, some members have been given notice that the response could come to the floor in September.

It’s not about stigma due to domination. It’s honest work. But it’s also back-breaking work, often in excessive heat and exposure to pesticides. So it’s really about difficult, toxic work. And in modern times, it wasn’t until Cesar Chavez fought for their ability to take bathroom and lunch breaks that it was even humane.

Aloha Arapaho and Meta! This is why I, and many Hawaii people, are so thrilled when he’s here- yes, to be near him, but mostly because we can feel his whole aspect relax into the comfort of this homespace. For anyone whose childhood included lots of beach days, bare feet, and easy friendships, highly charged work in a formal environment is doubly difficult. I salute him for taking on the world’s problems, of course, but I also yearn for him to jump in the ocean and let his cares wash away.

The Clinton Foundation on multiple occasions during Hillary Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state asked senior U.S. government officials to vet her husband’s contacts with potentially controversial international figures, according to emails released by the State Department.

The emails, reviewed by Reuters, were part of a batch of nearly 400 messages recently released by the State Department …show a top foreign policy adviser to the foundation sought guidance from the State Department on former President Bill Clinton’s interactions with people …

The emails offer a glimpse of the intricate relationship between a private charity with a broad global mission and the State Department under the leadership of a secretary who is married to a former president.

Former government officials reached by Reuters said there was nothing inappropriate in the interactions of the foundation with the State Department over the potential meetings, some of which did not occur.
