Trump won’t say a word about Putin interfering in our election. Can you imagine Ronald Reagen not standing before that camera and telling Putin, we will fine out if you interfered in our election and if true you will pay. The big bad Trump who attacks everyone else will not say anything to Putin. I have to wonder why is that?

Trump has already incriminated himself saying he would lift the sanctions on Russia besides saying on the campaign trail all the things Russia wanted including getting rid of NATO. That is pretty much proof in itself of Putin interfering with Trumps blessing.

Good morning TOD Family! Another great good precious day in the Presidency of Barack Hussein Obama, The GOAT, the Best Ever Commander in Chief that our nation has ever and will ever know. Congratulations on First, Betsy! NerdyWonka, this post is precious and right and good on this morning. Your tweets on Rep. John Lewis, Superhero and Architect of #GoodTrouble, are of course witty incisive thoughtful brillliant and excellent. Thank you for all you have done and do. I am getting my coffee and sitting down to watch this final Weekly Address. The blessings. I love and adore and appreciate how he is finishing his time in office. He is present accounted for on the job taking care of us and all the business, right to the very end. Of course he is. What else would he do, given who he has always shown himself to be?

I know that Pete Souza’s photos will be in the archives at the library, is there any hope that they will put them on a platform the way they are putting all other social media?

      January 14, 2025 at 12:08 pm

The flickr and Instagram accounts will remain. Here’s the overview:

      Video and Photos:
Over the past eight years, we’ve racked up thousands of hours of video footage and millions of photos. That’s all being transferred to NARA, where it will be preserved and made available to the public pursuant to the Presidential Records Act. The photos that have been released on WhiteHouse.gov, Flickr, Instagram and the video content on YouTube, Vimeo, and other White House presences will continue to be available on these platforms with updated usernames and will also be maintained by NARA. Full resolution versions of all the photo and video content that has been posted online will also be archived with NARA.

      https://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2016/10/31/digital-transition-how-presidential-transition-works-social-media-age

NARA stands for National Archives and Records Administration.

        January 14, 2025 at 12:12 pm

I should also say that I think that Pete Souza’s photos are the property of NARA (he was an employee of the WH) and thus cannot be commercially reproduced unless there is some kind of agreement. But I HOPE I’m wrong about that. No doubt there will be many on display at the Obama 44 Presidential Library but as far as creating a coffee table sort of book or series of collections, I’m not sure about that. We’ll see what happens!!

I will the watching a dvd of PBO’s first inauguration and recent interviews, binge watching the 2nd season of Outlander, reading, listening to beautiful music and praying for our country, especially for the most vulnerable among us. Next day, donations to social justice organizations that have proven records and figuring out what I can do on a local level.
Last week young people at a local high school stages a walk-out and a protest because they want the A-A history course to be worth a full instead of a half credit. This is set by the state and is the case all over Florida. The organizer was a Latina student. The supt. (whose wife is A-A) was receptive to the idea and promised to see if there was anything that he could done. This is also the supt. who tried to remove the names of confederate generals from local schools. Even when he got independent funding (the racists always try to use cost, not their prejudice as the reason for their protest) to pay for the removals, white folks objected. These schools that are still named for confederate traitors are now predominantly Black, which is an even greater reason to have this mess removed. I stopped going to lunch with teachers that I had worked with for 28 years when I learned how they felt about this.
The GOP is now trying to pass bills (they have done so in Alabama and are trying to do the same in Louisiana) to keep students in college and universities from discussing anything about social justice of ethnicity. They are being threatened with loosing some of their funding (I got this info. from the SPLC). We are already living in an authoritarian society. The way to control people is to limit access to information and to control education. The GOP run states and cities have been taking away freedoms, opportunity, and access, bit by bit and piece by piece for years. They know the demographics as much as anyone else and they have played the long game for years to counter it with everything from voter suppression to debtors’ prisons, to stealing elections. They have a big lead on liberals and progressives because we do not realize that the war is still going on. We win a few battles, take down our banners, let our swords rust while the enemy finds new ways to victory. What we have feared is already here and what only remains is: what are we prepared to do? Marching is all fine and good, but political power, wielded with an unrelenting strategy is what we need.

Votes were stolen by GOP controlled states to put him in office and a communist country that he believes more than Americans in our Intelligent Communities. He wants to sleep with the enemy then HE IS an enemy combatant and belongs in GITMO.

Karma is already on the case. The Deplorable One got into office mostly through his efforts, supported by the media and the GOP, to delegitimize PBO and he is being tarred with the same brush. It is even sweeter that it is begun, with no apologies, by Re. John Lewis.

The traditional media has failed us and should be consigned to a relic of history if it is not revamped and re-vitalized. What is the use of having its protections enshrined in our governing documents when they have become tools to carry lies and misinformation that deeply harms the institution that it is to protect?

I have not exhaled since the Clinton Administration and I am exhausted. All of the political ups and downs, the few moments of joy and visions of our country moving forward have been marred by so much ugliness and disappointment, missed opportunities, mismanagement, foolishness, and true evil. The latter is not a word that I have ever used casually and have always been suspicious when others use it, but as I have learned more and more about what the republicans, at the behest of the 1% that have the real power, have done to keep the poor, poor and sick, people of color disenfranchised, and all women as 2nd class citizens, I am sick to my soul. What is even worse than what has been done to us, is that so many do not know, that they blame the wrong people, and despite of so much evidence to the contrary, they hold on to a vision of this country that has never been true. We fight over scraps, while our birthright is buried. I try to stay positive, but everyday I learn more and more about just how devious our enemies are and how fucked up almost everything is. My sister says “why do you let this stuff upset you?” How can it not? The one thing that I hope for as we live through our not-so-new reality (it is just out there for more to see), is that more people wake up and realize how we have all been deceived and used as pawns by the powerful.
This is one of those days where it is harder to feel positive, but I know how to pull myself out of this so after giving myself a little time to give in to these feelings, I will do what we must do when we feel that we are at the bottom: look up and begin to crawl back up.

Ridiculous. Laughing to myself, I went on a search to see what’s posted on any official website about the uninauguration. You don’t have to visit this .gov page to know there’s not much. No program or even all that much specificity on events listed and it’s less than a week away. Probably still confirming to get ANYBODY to participate or perform. Oh, yeah, this page is also available in Español - not that anybody Trump will invite would require that.

    https://www.usa.gov/inauguration-2017

The fake inaugural has a very lonely looking twitter account - @TrumpInaugural - packed with bigly gobs of nothingness.

I started to gag, so I couldn’t finish looking through it … hope there’s nothing too foul to read … but this is a snark website on the big day, which has more fake news on it than the fake news on the real uninauguration site: https://bullshit.ist/order-of-program-for-the-inauguration-of-president-donald-j-cd42541f0ab#.fwnfbhb2g

    “The Emperor has no clothes.”
It took a person like John Lewis with total moral clarity and courage to say out loud what needed to be said about Trump: that he is not a legitimate president. And, people needed a John Lewis to say this to accept it and give others the courage to speak out. One person can change a room, as PBO always said. One person is all that is needed to start the right.
