    Happy Friday Everyone
I wanted to see if anyone here is going to the OFA Summit on April 24th? Our team is bringing a group of 7.

If any of you are going please let me know. We can try and find each other in the crowd. We also have extra time since we will be sightseeing Wed., Friday and Saturday. It would be such a kick to meet some of the folks who post to this blog and put a face to all the wonderful content we read here.

Also if anyone has gone to this event in previous years I would love to hear your experiences. This is our first time at the Summit. We will be trying to make sure we are close enough to the stage to shake his hand. I especially want the Fellows to have the chance to see our beloved President.

I have often wondered if the GOP’s tricks to block AG nominee Ms. Loretta Lynch is not only due to racism but also a fear that she is a potential nominee for SCOTUS. They used their viciousness to try and damage AG Holder and now they are doing the same to her

Lupita Nyong’o would have been another good choice as well…….i remember her speech about how she was glad that she could show lil girls like her that anything is possible…it can’t be overstated how important this is for young blk girls to see that they too are beautiful…

    Hi again everyone.
In a response to sherijr and meta about Elizabeth Warren and Martin O’Malley on the TPP, I am not sure what they are hoping to accomplish.

I do want to make a comment about Ed.
Big Eddie played the entire, unedited statement by President Obama on his show and then went on his usual rant.
Big Eddie sounded much the way a fieldhand from long ago might have sounded when things like tractors and bulldozers came around and fewer field hands were needed to get the harvest planted and brought to market.
Or when machines replaced factory workers.

POTUS was telling us that the world is moving and changing and we need to participate in the change rather than be its victims. This is common sense.

I am tiring of Elizabeth Warren, though. She and Martin O’Malley might want to educate themselves on reality a bit. A better platform for them would be 1) retraining of factory workers
    2) Extended Unemplyoment insurance payable while re-training for people affected by closed factories.

Ed I advise to sit down and STFU.

    • April 17, 2025 at 7:48 pm

Ed has reminded me of the Left’s Limbaugh.

I no longer have cable and used to listen to him on the radio. I found him to be too knee-jerk, emotional and had too many meltdowns for my taste. There were a lot of times I had to take a break from listening to him because he could be bullheaded and seemed to be incapable of looking at an issue from different sides. I will also never forget when he encouraged people not to vote.

      I see little has changed.

    Congratulazioni a Bill per primo!

I have been overwhelmed looking for a new place to live and preparing for a (working) visit to Italy, plus looking for a new cat sitter. This all has to be done within the next 6 weeks (I have to find a place, move out of here and into a new house by May first-ish, and then prepare for Italy and find a cat sitter by end of May)….arghhh!

Anyway, I am exhausted and numb and I peek in and see the press conference with Prime Minister Renzi is posted earlier! I had forgotten he was here! I am going to go watch it now.

Thank you so much Chips! I am grateful as ever for this place.

    Hope all are well!

{{{ <3 MadameSoph <3 }}} I will light a candle for you as this unfolds. You and I know it will all work out for the best. And kitty will be fine. _^..^_ That does not make the necessities any easier to manage, I know, May the Force Be With You!

Oh Mighty Pamela, my star-sister, thank you soooo much! I know that candle will help light the way! Thank you for your encouraging words and reassurance about the kitties. I’ve had them since they were one day old, so they are truly my children. The Force will be with me, now that you have reminded me to be aware of its presence!

        Love and light!

I glanced at the article on W trying to appease his self-image with his paintings - I hope he lurks on TOD, because this is for him: W, no matter if DaVinci or Michaelangelo painted you to look incredible, it would not change who and what you are, and it would not change what you did to this country and this planet, in the name of the American people. You may add lots of light into your features, but inside you are dark and lost. If a TOD moderator wishes to delete my comment, so be it. It is how I felt when I saw the article, as you enjoy your post-presidency, oil-baron lifestyle. Bah.

After watching this Reid interview, I think it’s a pathetically sad reflection on governance in the U.S. that the head of the Senate can admit (what we all here knew) that Republicans plotted against a majority elected president, deliberated and determined to stand in his path on every issue, and then to see that nothing has been done/can be done to hold them accountable. This is the only job I know of where you can publicly state you will not do your job, you will stop another from doing his, AND you can collect a lucrative salary without being confronted in any way. No wonder so many don’t want to give up the job (ex. McCain).

i understand..but democrats only win when we show up and show out at the polls…i am worried about all the talk of disillusionment with Hillary Clinton…i hope that we can energize folks to get them out to vote

Stonekettle, had a new post up today, I wish I knew how to link. He said to be careful who is putting out these articles about Hillary being against the Iran deal. The conservative pundits want to prevent democrats from voting. I think we have to be careful abut the source of this info.

I agree. I worry it will lead to apathy, our greatest enemy. If Democrats don’t vote, we will lose in 2016 and then ….. I am still focused on PBO, however, and am glad to be here while he’s still President.

i agree…and so am i…in fact the President has so much more to do…but we have to continue to be engaged in our democracy…even if we are not exactly happy with the choice of candidates…Having Barack Obama as our President has shown us what can be achieved and i think that this is one of the greatest gifts that the President has given us…we KNOW what can be achieved when there are a millions of voices calling for change…

I will be at the polls in 2016 because it is not about voting for HRC. I’m going to the polls because I’m voting for President’s Obama’s legacy of change. I’m voting for the Obamacare, a women’s right to choose and control her own body, equal protection under the law for LGBT folks, because BLACK LIVES MATTER, for repayment of student loans based on discretionary income, for veterans’ benefits, for no more UNNECESSARY wars, for a safety net for the poor, for early childhood education, for the Violence Against Women’s Act, for the global Let Girls Learn Initiative, for the fight against childhood obesity, for healthy nutritious school lunches, for access to fresh fruit and vegetables in low income communities, for climate change policies, for clean air and water policies, for the four potential Supreme Court Justice nominees, for a living minimum wage, for education to increase America’s competitiveness in the 21st century, to protect social security and medicare, both of which I EARNED. I will vote to make sure there’s a Democrat in the WH and that we take back both the House and Senate. My goal is to return all wingnuts to the rock under which they came. My President will always be President Obama. My First Lady will always be Michelle Obama. I have unsubscribed to most dem groups because they are doing their HRC thing. I did let them know though I will vote for the Dem nominee and blue all the way down ticket. I’ve told my family and firends, they must vote for the Dem nominee no matter what, because if we want to keep what President Obama has given us, we must must vote for the Dem nominee and blue down ticket. It is not a question of whether you like the nominee. You don’t have to like the nominee. All you have to like is the nominee’s policy agenda and strategies for getting there.

This!! Please post this in future threads. I am doing the same thing!! If there’s anything we’ve learned by this is that the Senate and House are important too, especially to protect Obamacare, social security and medicare; student loans, etc……
