        So, do any of you know of someone besides Vicky Kennedy who might be interested in running? There has got to be someone. I cannot stand Brown. Smarmy little toad.

    MEDIA MATTERS:

    GOP Scrambles To Blame S&P Downgrade On Democrats

    ===========================

    When Standard & Poor’s downgraded America’s credit rating from AAA to AA+, they cited the tenuous reliability of our nation’s political system. They even took the unusual step of calling out congressional Republicans for their absolute refusal to consider revenue increases as part of a debt-reduction solution. Yet the same Republicans who spent the months leading up to August 2nd playing a dangerous game of chicken with our nation’s fiscal solvency are now trying to wash their hands of the outcome, deciding instead to blame President Obama and the Democrats for the downgrade. They’re also arguing that the passage of a balanced budget amendment would have prevented the downgrade, even though a day after the announcement S&P Managing Director John Chambers stated without equivocation that a balanced budget amendment would hurt, not help, the government’s ability to respond to the fiscal crisis.

      After Triggering Downgrade, Debt Default Skeptics Try To Run From Their Records — But They Can’t

      =========================

      Standard & Poors has a specific justification for downgrading the U.S. bond rating, and it’s deadly for Republicans. It wasn’t just that Congress showed itself to be reckless and dysfunctional, or that the GOP shows no sign of ever ending their anti-tax jihad. It’s that for a period of weeks, some lawmakers (read: Republicans) were quite literally shrugging off the risks of blowing past the August 2 deadline, running out of borrowing authority, and missing payment obligations.

      “[P]eople in the political arena were even talking about a potential default,” said Joydeep Mukherji, senior directior at S&P. “That a country even has such voices, albeit a minority, is something notable,” he added. “This kind of rhetoric is not common amongst AAA sovereigns.”

      If John Boehner (R- Wonka Factory) got 98% of what the GOP wanted, then what they wanted was not effective. That’s because they DID get what they wanted and it only proved that they don’t know what they’re talking about by yielding bad results.

    Also want to say that my heart hurts and I get SO angry when I read LTE’s in our newspaper. So many are the typical ones you would expect to see in this very red area……so filled with hate and either outright lies and half-truths. One can tell where the people are getting their info-either Faux News or right-wing radio. There’s two hatchet jobs in today’s paper. I was watching FoxSnooze at the auto repair shop getting my car fixed and I saw the news about some court declaring the mandate in HCR unconstitutional, as well as Meghan Kelly showing some poll showing that 70% of Americans believe PBO made our troubles worse. This is how low the right wing will stoop to make PBO a one termer, they’re shoving this crap down people’s throats and it really pisses me off to see people buy it as gospel.

      Well, that gives me hope. The only sad thing is that so many who live in red country will not be helped. I know my, our, state would go for that as long as teabagger Rob McKeena does not win the governorship. Tien, sometimes I get so angry that we do not have a state tax and taxes are not going up anytime soon. Maybe we should hire a hit man to take out John Enima.

    OT - but good news

    I am always pestering my family (in person and online families) about buying local. I am sure you folks will eventually get so tired of it you will roll your eyes like my children do. With that theme in mind I was delighted to find this story about Farmers Markets.
